Haha yeah, I'm all for having a laugh at myself but there has to be a line in the sand at what's funny or not and that crossed it I think

Well he does drive two really fast cars and a silly fast bike so he might be compensating for something :/:D

You have to be careful what you write, you never know WHO will see it, haha :woot:

If that's to case I think I need a few more really fast cars and a couple of big Bikes :yes:

I remember seeing the video of this, bought a tear to my eye watching it :(

Reading this it reads like you think the guys building did something that cause it ?

there is a video ?

Fancy having to watch it over and over again, no thanks

Experience Peter, I was sitting in a HQ ute while one mate was filling up and the numbnut next to me decided to play with a lighter just rolling the wheel on the flint

It ignigted the fumes in the cabin (Boom!) and lit up the filler neck. The attendant refused to come out with the extinguisher.

So I went back over after about 30 seconds and put the cap back on which extinguished the flame.

(Only the fumes were burning from the filler neck.)

We all lost eyebrows, some hair and a few years.

Farkin idiot

Sorry no vid ...

Fark, you blokes were lucky, it does not take much to cause what could have been a lot worse.

I had a 1936 Dodge when I was a kid, had just filled it up and was going like a DH , lost it and wrapped it around a light post, bent it in half , we all got out OK, well sort of OK. Petrol all over the place and my mate lit a smoke, everyone shit and he threw it on the ground, yes into the petrol and it went out, windy night no fumes I guess but it scared the crap out of me :nuke:

Yer thought I would go to my local racecraft engineer to get some end links made for my sway bar. I gave him the instructions & measures. With rose joint ends , a short and long extensions for a soft and hard setting. Left & right handed threads with matching locking nuts and tapped spacers. You get the picture, and a price tag to match. Only to find out later none of my measurements even came close to working . Engineer says to me try these, a male and female rosejoint screwed together 40 bucks.

release bowser handle (natural reaction) and close lid (unnatural reaction) when fuel neck catches alight

maybe difficult to comprehend if first time and/or fear sets in

Man i wish i knew that, at first i thought the whole servo was going to blow up. But 2 seconds after I didn’t care.

I was more worried with saving my car then anything, i understand the servo attendant did not want to help but heck i just wanted my car. He could have at least given me the key to the fire exinguher box, i asked him like 6 times and was yelling at him towards the end.

Even the firemen said what the hell why was there no key in the box as that’s not compliant by fire safety standards. Also it was blocked by the servo bin that they have were the water bucket ect is.

They now have a key in the box, the break glass section is removed so even quicker access and no obstructions, yet they still claim no fault at all.

It took him like 2 min to hit the fuel cut emergency button when i ran in and told him there was a fire, he didn’t believe me.

The funny thing about the fuel vapours is. The servo was only renovated 2 weeks prior, it was the first service station in Aus to have this new technology installed that has a vacuum in the nozzles to suck out any fuel vapour.

I remember that for next time and I will have my own extinugher in the car.

Yes and no, two different mechanics built the car and put it all together. Then a separate tuner.

I had also taken it too another two mechanics locally to get a few small things fixed up, i.e. catch and BOV issues and they never picked up on anything

I had also filled up about 5 times prior to this time so I was not expecting it

My worst modifying experience would be when i was being bloody ignorant by using only a scissor jack to hold up the car while changing my brake pads. The jack snapped and the car plummeted onto the rotors, luckily my foot wasnt under the car and my expensive brembos didnt take a hit. Since that day i bought 2000KG axel stands and 1800KG hydraulic jack as well as watching countless number of youtube vidz on how to properly jack up a car.

I've only got a scissor jack. do carry your hydraulic jack in your car at all times? aren't they big? or do you just use scissor for spare tire change? and hydraulic from home.

Throw a wheel under the car, under the sump or something. Will stop the car from Crushing you if it falls. I have had a car snap a jack as well. Always have something as a failsafe.

    • That's not a transistor --- it's marked ZD1 which makes it a zener diode. As to what the breakdown voltage is, not enough there to divine.
    • Hi all, Long time since I've posted here. Looking for some advice on what I can remove to further identify the cause of my issues.  I can move the passenger seat forward and back but the knob used to adjust the seat angle is pretty much free spinning, there's very little resistance.  Removing the side cover I can see that the chain is intact but the shaft for the adjustment spins without the gear attached to it moving.  What's my next step for disassembly here? Is this a common fault? Just being a little cautious as I didn't want to start removing bolts for a spring to fly out or something equally as stupid.  Cheers
    • The incentives are mostly the same, yes. Ethanol is cheap compared to the cost of doing 98-100 RON with crude oil alone. 87 to 93-94 AKI all with E10. In 2020 Canada mandated E10 as a part of their "renewable fuel standard" and is supposedly going to go to E15 in 2030. In California where there are only 8 refineries with two threatening to shut down next year it's been over 20 years now of E10 and 91 AKI maximum because there's just not enough refinery capacity or crude oil supply relative to the demand for premium unleaded fuel. And CARB's low carbon fuel standard means functionally none of the diesel available at the pump is made from crude oil anymore. It's almost all entirely 20% biodiesel blended with 80% renewable diesel (hydrotreated vegetable oil) now. The number of gasoline vehicles that support E15 or higher ethanol concentrations is surprisingly low, I can't imagine it being wise to play tricks like this without flex fuel sensors in most of the fleet.
    • It's almost certainly the same as the one next to it. • South Australia, which is hardly as far behind as the rest pf Oz makes out, and who is also not a paragon of progressiveness (read that as over-legislation) in the area of vehicle standards, has this to say on the subject: Adjustable coil-over suspension Aftermarket adjustable coil-over suspension components are suspension units that incorporate an external thread on the main body and corresponding threaded spring saddle that allows the vehicle's suspension height to be varied. If fitting aftermarket or coil-over suspension components you must submit an Application to modify a light motor vehicle form and a report from a light vehicle engineering signatory (LVES).
