I think the average age was.... hmmm, oh about 30 - just perfect for me! The short blonde with the yellow "Kicker" top was 38 but I'd still consider dating her, as she was a very interesting conversationalist.

ive got about 160+ photos from the show...............i can do a cd for anyone interested

also i was impressed with the number of cars..............pity there were no R31s though.......give me a few years and i'll work on it!!!!

To all, i was a little disappointed with the depth of good quality street driven cars. You always have a heap of true show cars (basically only a couple this year!) but there was definately a shortage of well presented street cars.Way too many near standard cars_magnas etc...

Regards,

SKYLINE...... :Bang: :bs!:

BlitzSSS, did you take a look at some of those heaps

I expect that autosalon cars are "part of the biggest car show series in Australasia" and I should see "some of the greatest modified cars in Australasia"

In order to enter Auto Salon your car must "be modified and well presented."

Whilst I agree that spending $2000 on a subwoofer and installing it in an otherwise shit box is a modification, it dose not mean thet it is a well presented vehicle.

I didnt expect all of the sound off cars to look like the ibrahim bros WRX, but SOME were literally $500 shit heaps with a sound system installed.

I am no show car judge (any more) but the cars should at least meet a basic standard, and even the sound systems in some were not worthy of competing.

I am sorry, if your 17 years old and struggling to afford a bomb (laser, pulsar or gemini) as your first car, then stick to some of the lesser shows, and leave the big shows to the grownups, if however you have got the time and money to build a car to a high standard, then enter it and know you are in with other cars os a worthy standard.

Don't start this as a personal attack on my age, income or choice of car because you have no idea.

Those cars were not modified for show cars and thats the point, they were there to compete in the sound quality (Saturday) and SPL competition (Sunday). Cabin decided to include these comps/stands in Autosalon so complain to them. You have no idea what was installed in some of those cars in regards to their sound systems, and not just a $2000 sub.

Anyways im not going to bother defending this any longer. There will always be criticisms from narrow minded people no matter what was presented during the weekend. There was also alot more positive and appreciative feedback given.

If it was only so easy to catch fish, then they wouldnt call it a soprt.

BlitzSSS I wasnt having a personal go at you, as you rightly point out I dont know you or your situation. What I was having a go at is the quality of some cars at Autosalon.

My quoted comments

"part of the biggest car show series in Australasia" and

"some of the greatest modified cars in Australasia"

"be modified and well presented." were all taken from the INFORMATION FOR COMETITORS section of the autosalon web page http://www.autosalon.org/generic.asp?id=20

I stand by my comments about car quality, and wasnt having a go at you personally, rather I was having a bit of fun making comments I hoped would start some discussions.

edit:

Some of the cars in for the audio comps were great cars and I apreciated the effort and quality put in by the owner, however some would be better off at Sims metal.

As a side note my original comment also stated that some of the cars entered for the show (not just the audio section but some of the "show" cars aswell"

dude u puit ur car in a modified  car show. Be prepared to cope peoples opinion, if u like it or u dont, thats how it is. If u decide to only modify ur stereo, then thats your decision.

My car wasn't at Autosalon.

If it was only so easy to catch fish, then they wouldnt call it a soprt.

I understand your point of view on the matter and i'm not denying that some of the cars there were stock. However Cabin considers the competition a valid and valuble part of the Autosalon series and it does attract a fair bit of attention from people who don't judge the cars solely by their looks.

I'm not sure which day you are refering to but ill presume your talking about the SPL comp on Sunday and the really old POS cars that had to be pushed into the lanes. I can asure you they are not daily driven cars and are bought and prepared (internally) purley for competition often because they have characteristics beneficial to SPL (and they are cheap = more money to spend on the system and materials). I don't know if you understand what really is involved with a vehicle built for SPL so [shamelessplug] check out CAA if you care to find out more. [/shamelessplug]

    • Bah! I can't see the point in custom number plates at all. I went to the rego office, fished through a box of "premium" plates (the ones that had the "not as tall" option for the front plate) and picked the one that had a 32 in it. That's the limit of the effort and cost I will put into number plates. The only plate that I'd consider paying for would be 2332, but that's not possible here because it already exists from probably 90 years ago, and it would cost a fortune to obtain it, if it were available.
    • After chasing my tail with LS results..... and cheaper than a turbo swap... How confident are you that the dyno is accurate relative to other results? How fast is the car - What MPH does it actually run? Is this similar to what people running this power would expect?
    • Hi mate I am having an identical issue with my 98 R34 GTT. The engie suddenly cuts out under load at about 3-4k, black smoke out exhaust. Almost feels like traction control kicking in. No CEL but still going to check codes later today. Car was sitting in the shed for about 5 months before hand and only idled a few times, took her out with about 1/4 tank, filled up and thats when the issues started happening.  Threw on a spare set of coils/harness and checked plugs which was no help. Recently had fuel pump/filter changed so surely thats not the issue unless condensation in fuel, I just havent had the time to drain it It's running a hi flow turbo, bosch 1000cc injectors, walbro 450L, Z32, Nistune etc... All about 2000km old.
    • I always wonder where the obsession with legal/illegal spacing on number plates in the UK comes from. Because it comes up in comments in every UK-based video I see on youtube. From my point of view all of your plates look a bit odd. Just because there are no markings whatsoever. In Australia we have the state that has to be on it. In Europe you get stamps and state logos. Yours look a bit like a throwaway draft that people then stuck with. And attached with blu tack so that it falls off at the slightest disturbance. Not trying to hate, but it's interesting how things are done in different countries. Do you have to follow a lettering convention when choosing a custom plate?
    • Hybrid sounds like a supercharger... It's half a turbo, with a belt to drive it! Oh wait, they're just called super chargers...
