Motorsport Round 2 - Winton Sat 14th Of March

70 cars, only 4 groups so 17 or 18 cars on track at once which IMO is too many for time attack at winton. So hard to get a clean lap given the big time spread 17 cars will have.

only every second session is timed.
Sounds more like a happy laps day.

Honestly if I knew this I wouldn't be going.... but I hope it's better than expected!!

would they consider running 5 groups x12min instead of 4 groups x15min or similar I wonder?

I'm still gonna have fun regardless... but... now I see why we haven't seen Supp Regs (still)... That email doesn't count for much at all...

Same here, it's my first time at Winton so it's just a test and tune now so I'm not taking it too seriously. :)

Good to see the timing decision got reversed. Recoveries were a bit slow but otherwise seemed to run ok, for the bit I took part in at least. Seem's I cursed myself complaining about tourist laps. Went sub 40's which is a PB but damaged a tyre at the same time so disappointed I didn't get another session to attempt a 38 which I think is possible. What wasn't possible was driving home on the damaged tyre.....

And the lap

Big thanks to Craig for lending me a wheel to make it home (lesson learnt, carry spares and a jack!) and Aaron for roadside assistance. Also cool to have a few people pull over and see if I needed a hand, even if they were in a bit of strife themselves. Though not the FA crew, they top gear'd me. I'd have done it to them haha.

The results don't list club so I'll need a hand confirming who are SAU Vic members for the motorsport championship update. I've assumed some of these....

That's some smooth driving .... you almost look relaxed :) The gearbox in the 86 looks super smooth to shift as well, wish I could say the same for the s15.

Richo - what goes on there? what issues did you have with the r33?

Was a good day even though i didn't know anyone. Was a bit hard to get a clean lap with so many cars.

Managed to do a sub 1:50 time with cheap street tyres. Happy to get my car home in one piece and working.

not the best day for me personally day ended short due to the cooler pipe that comes off the turbo splitting/melting twice once in the first session and then completely splitting in half in the second session

still managed to almost equal my old PB of 1:43.3 with a 1:43.8 on my 9th lap with a full tank of fuel and a passenger so was looking good to beat the old PB :(

A big thanks to John "ssxRicho" and Neil form Primal Garage for the help and assistance to try and get the car back on the track, hopefully get out there soon

I thought it was a pretty sketchy lap actually. Gearbox is nice when warm since putting in Motul 300, still horrible when cold though. Pretty sure its just a newer revision of what you've got in the S15, been a while since I had mine but I liked the gearbox in that car once I put decent fluid in.

Day started nearly an hour late and slow recovery. Probably cost at least an entire full session for everyone...

And there was other issues with some guys going 100% while course was under yellow's on more than one occasion, having shit like that come flying up behind you mid-corner isn't intelligent and very, very dangerous... People need to use some brains.

But that aside Circuit Club ran a good day, am very thankful all sessions were timed - good move that one. Some guys mention issue with traffic but I didn't have many drama's. I was fast enough that if I went out last, the guys that went out first wouldn't quite catch me. It wouldn't have been the same if I was 5-10 sec slower though.

So thumbs up from my corner! Would attend again.

Although I didn't make as good use as I should've due to exhaust gasket blowout which then fell off entirely on way home. Fixed it yesty and turned out the other side had *juuuust* started to come lose as well.

I suspect class A-C was more consistent. I was in class D where there was a big variation in laptimes anywhere from 1:48 to 2:00. Lead to overtaking almost every lap. Wasn't too bad once i queued up towards the front of the dummy grid.

Really happy with how the day ran, however, I suspect some people need to understand that when it's hot, cars overheat.

Lotus ran like a champ all day though, with the new Hankook Semi Comps, ran a good PB with a 1.37.37 in the third session.

Only got one more and got Dave to jump in the car to provide some tips and pointers, unfortunately, didn't get a chance to put that to use as the track got oil down and closed for an hour and I wasn't game to go out onto an oily track. Looking forward to the next outing.

Dunno why I waited so long to go to semis - these things are awesome.

Here's my vid of the best lap (Sorry about the clicking - it's the camera rubbing against the seat).
