GT500_Racer
Hey guys doing some maintenance over the weekend since i picked up my first skyline and couldnt help noticed how loud the fan was, it seems it roars too loud, loud enough not to hear the engine... its worse when standing outside, u cant even hear the engine or exhaust, embarrassing lol I was told that its possible the viscous fan is stuffed, so i ask on your opinion here Now im aware they are suppose to be loud but only on start up when the viscous fan fluids are cold, but mine seems to be stuck on all the time, which makes me wonder is the viscous fan stuffed? I have some understanding of viscous fans, but ive always had electric fans on my other vehicles, so this mechanical fan is some what new to me haha cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/456503-rb25-viscous-fan-problems/ Share on other sites

Got a Pulsar
With the engine not running you should be able to spin the fan easily by hand, if not she's goosed. Having said that, the clutch fan on my R31 was a little stiff and noisey but a spray in there with Silicon spray or WD40 (can't recall which I used) actually freed it up alot and quietened it down too. Worth a shot and can't make it any worse. Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/456503-rb25-viscous-fan-problems/#findComment-7531519 Share on other sites
iruvyouskyrine
$173 for a fan hub seems a bit steep though, but I have the same problem, the fan absolutely roars even at low rpm Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/456503-rb25-viscous-fan-problems/#findComment-7531626 Share on other sites
scotty nm35
Did you try Amayama or just the Nissan counter? The UAE site is usually around half the price of Nissan Aus for some reason, although shipping can sometimes blow the cost out. scotty nm35
So Nissan Aus would want $400 odd for it? There could be a market for refurbishing the old ones at that rate. niZmO_Man
I thought some of the hubs (can't remember which ones) were sealed/non-serviceable. Just buy a second hand one. I threw an RB20 one on my RB30 when that seized up (no more sounding like an E-series Falcon). iruvyouskyrine
Most of the time you don't know if a second hand one works or not. I have had 3 different ones and none work properly.
