  • 2 weeks later...

A very full field again. But after lunch it thinned out.

I wasn't supposed to be in the skyline, so we threw the old a050 on and bamb 1.40.5 with traffic.

Car has a 37 in it.

I had a late night with some mates and went out to my car to drive home at about 3:30am Sunday morning, and the ice buildup was about half a cm thick, I can't imagine what it was like down at PI.

How chilly was it down there? I'm guessing the Siberian air came and cut through everyone?

I managed to reel off a 1:53.8 in my Little Red Rocket. It's my first time out at Phillip Island.

LOVE LOVE LOVE The first and last turns. G-Forces for days. May need a better seat!

Looks like I've busted the clutch bracket and I left after three sessions, but this is an easy fix.

Can live with that one!

    • Yes they do. For some maybe. But for those used the most by abusers, ie Skylines, the numbers are known. The stock eyebrow height for R32/3 Skylines is about 365/375mm or thereabouts. The minimum such heights are recorded in adjacent columns in the database.
    • Hmmm, interesting. Makes me wonder whether there is bias as well. It's the cheapest fuel, so it is used for all kinds of ill-maintained shitboxes which are bound to have issues regardless. Nicer cars tend to require higher octane rated fuel and can't use it anyway. FWIW, the official NSW E10 facts page is decent.
    • Out of curiosity, how do officials determine what the OEM ride height and suspension specs are? Do they have a book of truth? I'd think that would be quite obscure knowledge for random JDM cars.
    • This is the check list they sign off on. This implies that adjustable coilovers of the type we're referring to are not a "Variable Ride Height" system. This very much is in the ethos of "I can change the height while moving/while parked without pulling wheels off the car and mechanically doing so"
    • Just an update  ... Put the cat back on no issues with the car running wise ... maybe alittle longer to spoil up the turbo. Still running rich but waiting for my tuner to come back into town to retify the situation. WOT runs fine with the cat.
