Autohub is processing 75 (approx) vehicles at the moment and a major percentage of these are going to Edward Lees *cough - Sun Rise Cars.

They (Edward Lees) have just sold an R34 GTR and three R32 GTR's with more coming in according to their Youtube/website. Appears he is still selling quite a lot despite his reputation..

I wonder if he is doing it legally and if the powers that govern them know he is back in business ??

Not trying to hide the association with Edward Lees  Imports ?

... inch deep dish alloy wheels, front and rear air-conditioning. Call Sunrise Cars 02 97440539. Go to SUNRISE CARS .com .au to see a detailed video of this car

What's extremely surprising is that I only know of 2 people who have taken the company to court over fraud. Tristan with his 260 being wound back over 100k and Peter with his 34R. Seems everyone else just lays down and takes it till their black and blue.

What happened?

Hi Hayden , at the risk of boring other members that know the story, lol

I knew nothing about Skylines and bought the car on a whim form EL, paint was crappy looking but liked the way the car looked and felt good behind the wheel.I was lucky, the car was sound, no rust and had a new worked motor +. The price was good considering the work that was done on it and I had the paper work to prove it.

BUT , Edward Lee advertised it as a 800HP R34GTR and only need the final  tune to get around that mark. It went to the tuner, he said it would need a boost controller,  contacted EL and told him it need the controller, he said OK and I gave the tuner the go ahead to install the boost controller and was going to sort it out later with Phil, when I finally contacted EL (Phil) he virtually told me to piss off as they paid for the tune and would not pay for the controller. This pissed me off but I liked the car and thought I would see how it drove home after the tune.

The car had an OS Quad Clutch, T78 turbo. It tuned to 338awkw, this sounded OK for me, more than enough for a street car, little did I know until I started to drive home down Pennant Hills Rd just how wrong I was, nothing much happened under 5000rpm , had not driven a stick for 8 years and with the Quad clutch and no torque down low, it was ride em cowboy in peak hour traffic all the way to the freeway, it was a crappy ride home 330klm and it broke down 40 klms from home, it did get it  started again :(

Asked EL again to pay for the Boost controller and he told me not to bother him, deal was done, not so.

I contacted Consumers Affairs and they went to see him, Phil had the bloke wait for over an hour outside his office and when he finally spoke to him, to was rude and dismissive. He had no fear of Consumers Affair as they had no power in this type of situation as they could not make a judgement to have EL pay for anything ( as I understand it)

But the CA bloke phoned me and told me to try NCAT as they did have the power to do something about it. I did and I also told them that EL misrepresented the car as being an 800HP machine , just to rub it in a bit, I only wanted the boost controller paid for. EL said they would take the car back but not pay for the boost controller, in hindsight, $1100 would have been real cheap to get rid of the car if I knew what was going to happen, lol

EL had to go to the NCAT office, as I was living over 200klm away from Sydney I did not have to go to the first hearing and we used a conference call. I will tell you this, Phil did not act like a dick with NCAT as he knew they had the power to force him to abide by the judgement. If businesses do not abide by the NCAT ruling they can have their license suspended and I guess in some cases , revoked !

I was paid for the Boost controller and that was just the start of shit with my car dealing with arseholes in the Motor Performance industry. But there was a happy end and the car is mad :)

Then not long ago Edward Lees finally got caught up with and closed down. But as everyone expected,  here they are again. I would have thought they would have had their Motor Dealers License taken off them,  forever!, BUT with the dumbarse  weak laws and the people that administer them, others will have to suffer with this mob!

ANYONE that buys a car or has work done on it should document everything, try to get answers on emails or texts, phone conversations are next to useless. Keep everything until you are sure,  VERY SURE everything is OK

I appreciate the detailed reply, he does come off as a douchebag in his videos (Phil). He really makes himself marketable and seem like a nice guy to people who don't know much about cars. Good to hear you got one back over him mate.

Like most con men, they are believable, so you never know.

By the way, I bought 3 cars from his father and had no problems :)

Does anyone know about this " Sydney auto house oz " ? It's the same as prestige auto house?

If it associated with the dodgy tampering import clowns?

so many dodgy importers.. what they do is have a seperate company in Japan buying cars from auction, change auction sheets and the " import " company here buys the car from that car yard in Japan.. which is the loophole to get away without any backlash.

To this day i don't understand why anyone would buy an import through anyone other than Iron Chef.

Yep, been in contact with Troy and they're nothing but helpful. I'll be bringing in a car through them, wouldn't even think to trust anyone else

    • Assuming the current ECU is stock, it might be worth getting hold of a nissan data scan cable. It could be as simple as voltage at the ECU
    • You need to test for spark when it matters - ie cranking. Kill the fuel supply, pull a plug and earth it, set up a camera and go crank. The spark needs to be consistent, every other turn of the engine. Not some sputtering of occasional spark. The reason I say this is because spinning the CAS in the air is not the same as spinning it installed, and if there is a bearing problem in it, the disk might work differently in the air than in the engine. You won't want to try to set the timing unless you know the spark is happening right.  Also, reconsider running the R35 coils against the stock ECU. They like a different amount of dwell cf the originals. It's not massive, you can actually run them, but it is better if you can adjust the dwell (which you can with Nistune in the stocker, or with an aftermarket ECU). Besides any of that - when you had the multimeter out, have you got power where it needs to be, earth where it needs to be (and when, in the case of igniter triggers), etc?
    • Apologies for the long post, but needed somewhere to lay out the entire timeline of events and actions taken:   I've got an 89 GTR with a R34 RB in it. It's been running great all year, driven probably 500KM in the last month. It's not my daily driver, just a weekend fun car.    Build info: R34 RB26 - HKS 2.7 stroker kit, HKS adjustable cam gears, HKS turbo upgrades, Trust intercooler, R34 factory DENSO 440cc injectors, JUN chipped/tuned R32 ECU. All of this work was performed in Japan back in 2019.    Thursday 10/2/25 - It's a nice day and decided I'll drive it to work, I start it up in the garage and I notice it took a few extra cranks and sounded a bit funny. I figure maybe it was just because it was a pretty chilly morning. I pull it out into the driveway to warm up a bit before leaving. As I leave the driveway, it feels very off and sounds like a misfire. I pull it back in the garage to deal with after work and take the daily to work. I was able to diagnose it as a cylinder 5 misfire with the old spark plug test (unplugging each plug until a sound change with the engine running). I take off the whole ignition system, ignitor, plugs, spark. *Important note, it is still on the R32 ignition system with the separate ignitor system. I test each system with a multi-meter and nothing presents as a smoking gun. I put it all back together and it starts up no issue. I go ahead and order the PRP R35 ignition conversion kit. It should arrive today (10/13/25)   Friday 10/3/25 - Another nice day, car starts up great and drives great all day. Very pleased that everything seems to be OK   Sunday 10/5/25 - Decided I'll take it to play some golf, load up and drive to the course about 25 minutes away. Drives wonderful the whole way there, I pull in the parking lot and the engine completely comes to a stop. I do not recall if it sputtered at all, but just remember all of the sudden the engine was off. I roll it into a parking spot, try to crank it back on and nothing.  It'll crank and crank and not even try to start. End up getting it towed back to my house and push it up into the garage.    Items I have checked: Fuel in the tank Fuel Pump relay Fuel pump fuse  Spark Plugs & gap Coil packs Ignitor    I know the cylinders are getting fuel as the plugs smell like fuel after a start attempt. I tried spraying starter fluid into the manifold and cranking and not even a sputter.    I decided to do the live CAS test (removing the the CAS, ignition on and spinning the CAS stalk to see if the injectors pulse and spark is active). All of the injectors were pulsing and I have spark at the plug. The half-moon end of the CAS did seem very loose, I'm not sure how much play is supposed to be there, but it was more than I expected. There was no in/out play of the shaft, just the tip end that is pinned on had quite a bit of play.    CAS Play video   When I put the CAS back in, I stupidly did not re-time the engine. I know I need to do that tonight, however, I do not think it will start given it seemingly was not the issue. My plan is to do the PRP R35 coil kit and retime the engine at the same time.    I plan on ordering the Haltech Nexus Plug-in ECU once they are available again, but ideally would like to get this sorted before firing the parts cannon at it and potentially adding more variables.    Anything glaring that I am missing here, I'm a bit at a loss?
    • Get it on a dyno. Get something logging Consult. Run it up and find out what is causing it.
    • Looking for a plenum for rb25 de+t neo  Not looking to push much power maybe 300kw at the wheels, is there much difference in flow for Freddy “Greddy style” compared to original Greddy or options like Proflow or Otaku garage?    I won’t be porting the de Neo head for now as I think it’ll be fine 280-300rwkw but appreciate the help and any experiences anyone has between them and any advice. Thanks  Looking at this plenum for now below
