I dont mean no disrespect Dan, but I read your posts and build thread(s). and yes, right now I have time on my hands.

Created ~250 threads since 2010, majority not for the For Sale section. though, back then SAU was a different place.

Recently:

Oct 2015 - In the market for 33 or 34GTR. but not really sure. But then contemplating Evo. but then not really. but then thought the 34R was too old. But 32R wasnt out of the picture either.

Nov 2015 - decided on R34GTR. asks if anyone is familiar with the car after buys it

Nov 2015 - Build thread starts. 100+ pages in under 12 months. Mostly discussions about what to do or what to buy.

April 2016 - contemplating E85. Wants to use drum fuel only. wants to transport 200L drum in boot of a car.

Oct 2016 - Inquiring about R35's.

Oct 2016 - Inquiring about Euros. all of them.

Nov 2016 - Inquiring about open wheelers.

Lol I'm not sure if I should be impressed or concerned with how much effort went into that, you must be fun at parties :D

Some threads relate to my weekender, some to my track car. All have promoted quality conversation imo. Something a forum needs to survive. #noregrets.

I come here to talk to like minded car enthusiast and bounce ideas around with subject matter experts - I make no apologies for that.

P.S. New C63S is sexy as!

Not dissing you or your methods. Just providing some background info when someone asks if this thread has come to some sort of conclusion haha

When you were considering a GTR you never seemed convinced. And now you have one. And you still dont seem convinced.

Guess what lol, mind changed again! I spent some time with an M4 and an R35 over the weekend.

M4 is a muuuuuch nicer car. I cannot believe how rough and noisy the 35 is. M4 was almost as quick to highway speeds and it was stock. Would be line ball with a tune and exhaust but a much nicer car to drive.

R35 = Transaxle noises, road noise, suspension noise. This was a MY11 with an exhaust and a tune, 48ks, full service history. Tried it in comfort etc, barely any difference. Reminded me of my 34 in terms of harshness and my car has aftermarket coil overs/clutch and is 17yrs old. Seats are uncomfortable as hell.

Convinced me there's not enough of a difference between a tuned 34 and a fairly standard R35 to warrant the change. Might sit on 34 for a while and see what M4 prices do.

R35 low down torque is delicious and makes me want 3L+ in my car lol, the continual pull well beyond legal speeds is just dead sexy.

Comparing 2017 M4 to 2011 R35 seems abit unfair. Maybe 2017 R35 is a better comparison.

Not sure how BMW warranty is with tune and exhaust as mods. Probably need a set of wheels too, get rid of those nasty run flats and might save yourself buckling a few OEM wheels

Wasn't brand spanker M4, 2014.

When talking to the owner of the 35 about the harshness of the transaxle/ride he said he'd also commented on that to Nissan and they let him drive a 2017 to compare, he said there was barely any difference which was in part why he just bought a cheaper second hand one.

I also realise the M4 will likely depreciate much worse.

oh and warranty on the one I looked at expired in November and when discussing warranty options beyond that, the dealership had no issue with an exhaust and tune "within reason".

When questioning that he said the exhaust should have cats and be of legal sound level, tune should not be for any other fuel type - no e85.

This was an independent prestige dealer though, not a BMW specific dealer.

    • This car has run before on this z32 ecu can get the part number for you, I have tried with no AFM it didn’t change anything, I compression tested today 140-150 across all 6 cylinders, also set fuel pressure to 43psi. The only weird thing was cylinder 1 plug was black and fouled other 5 cylinders were just wet with fuel. Spun cas by hand and confirmed injectors are clicking
    • Since you came here to ask for help, have you thought about answering our questions, that might help us lead you to why it was skipping, or have you given up on getting advice?
    • A 1.5 way is a 2 way. It is just a 2 way with a less aggressive ramp on overrun.
    • The ABS and/or TCS being missing/broken will not cause the engine to misbehave. It just casues CEL to come on and annoy you. The CEL is useless if it is always on, so you have to do the things you have to do to get rid of it, so it can be useful. Being a Stag ECU, then yes, it will not expect TCS to be present. But it will expect ABS to be present and working. You will need to either make the ABS CU talk to the ECU (don't ask me what that will take on an NA R34), and make sure the hardware is working....or, you just need to blank it out in Nistune. Do not persist with the stock ECU. You will just have problems. Gte it Nistuned. Start from there. DO YOU HAVE A BOOST SENSOR? The ECU's boost sensor that it. It is connected to the loom at the rear of the coil cover. Usually rides on the firewall on an R34, but is usually bolted down to a bracket along with all the other crap at the back of the coil cover when a Neo is dropped into another car. If you do not have it, the ECU will shit the bed. So, do you have one?
    • So sadly the fuel pump etc was not it. The pump and filter is new and it is still cutting around 4000 rpm. A read something about ABS/TCS (engine is from stagea and ECU too so no TCS) and i dont know for 100% that my car has ABS. It has ABS "cube" in engine bay but i dont think it works(or at least from my braking experience). Can be something like that?  I will be driving the car next week to Nistune tuner to properly see what is wrong...
