Drove it tonight, gave it a bit of a squirt on the new motor. Does feel strong, but haven't given it a beating yet as it's still the 1st batch of oil.

Will dump out the oil then drive it harder this weekend :)

Not a bad turbo, comes on (gate pressure) about 4000rpm, from the trace you can see 0.8bar of boost by 3600rpm. Mind you this was all in 2nd gear. No 3rd gear squirts yet hehehehe

@Piggaz told you I was going to give it not pussy it around!!

But does it dose?

not VL dose, but it is because running low boost and also has a stainless intake..will take the car and get some fab work soon ish :)

Haven't driven the car since but installed a modern head unit with bluetooth for hands free life :)

Some modern features for an prehistoric car.

If you can hear the radio you're not driving it fast enough...

That's what i tell myself anyway, need to get mine working again...

Haha its got some decent audio, Vifa splits and a DD ported sub. At the back there is a 4 channel and a monoblock to power the speakers lolol.

So late arvo yesterday, dropped the oil and put in fresh 15W50 Penrite Racing and decided to check the base timing. It was a whole 4 degrees off. Explains why the car had a bit of a boost creep running stock gate pressure.

Fixed that, then took it for a spin (in between that fixing the fuel table which didn't require much change from the old motor setup). Got the AFRs a bit leaner so now its hitting 11.7 and flat lining.

And yep, I raised the boost too haha.. Running it in at 1.2bar of boost with crap all flat timing it's baking shitty 245 section Dunlops. Took it to Mexico and wound out 1st 2nd and 3rd, think I'm starting to hate the car less. Followed by that ended up at my mate's shop in South Mexico followed by a session of donuts to bed in the motor further. Gave the keys to the other boys at for a spin too. One didn't mind the lag as the motor revved out to 8.3k the other said was a bit too laggy for his liking but nevertheless still put a smile on everyone's face.

Late last night thought I would try to download the footage from my dash cam, turns out the memory card is corrupted :(

I'm running in this car a shitty Laser branded dash cam. It's the same as the G1W you see on OzBargain.

Also isn't the first time it has corrupted a memory card. Instructions clearly state only use memory cards in this list, clearly I'm not lol.. Have a SanDisk SD card in there it doesn't like.

I don't think it matters, I've got an older GoPro4 and a quality SanDisk card and it never seems to capture anything when I'm doing illegal stuff, it's really odd.

Ordered 2x 3.5" v bands, came next day.. Woo! (One pictured)

More exhaust mods, 3.5" into a 3" axle back isn't going to be optimal for 400kW+ worth of exhaust flow. Gotta open up that shit

A bit of raw data from the car, we can see it's making boost within 200ms or so from gear changes. Not bad transient response :)

It's no EFR or GTX but for what it is it will make many GT-R owners with twins pretty sad lol

Haven't had the chance to give it a full belt and do logs because of the long weekend

    • Its also worth mentioning that 30 years after it left the factory and god knows how many missed oil changes since, there is every possibility that one or more lifters are ticking because they are sticky/gummed up. To resolve that you need to pull the cams then pull each lifter, disassemble, clean, reassemble, soak in oil and re-install, and they should come up good as new.
    • What air filter are you running? Is it a panel filter in the stock air box, or a pod filter? Is the air filter the type that is oiled?   If you unplug the IACV, what rpm does the engine idle at?
    • Reading through the engine service manual their advice is do a cylinder balance test. Unplug one injector at a time and see if the idle drops a consistent RPM. You can also do this using a Consult cable which is easier. They also call for unplugging the power transistor, then with the engine off and the fuel rail unhooked from the manifold verifying that you have good fuel flow (even injection, no dripping/leaks, etc) when you twist the CAS by hand. Also verify the spark by pulling the spark plugs and allowing the plugs to ground and turning the CAS by hand. I would also start doing the sensor checks and idle valve checks in service manual. Make sure the MAF tests reasonably, the intake air regulator is sane, etc. You may have to get new spark plugs.
    • This sounds very old of me, however since buying the Tiguan shit box, my view on shit boxes have changed.
    • I've looked up the parts number (41011AL501). It's around $700 OEM. Usually our Infiniti G35 here in Canada have interchangeable parts with my Stagea but the parts number are not the same. I have looked around and it seems the JDM 2005 V35 Skyline (which is the same as our G35) has the same caliper but I cannot confirm. And I can't find a repair kit. The inner brake pads drags on the rotor, seems to be rusty piston. Thanks for the info by the way
