Hello everyone. I just got a power fc from ebay and the guy claims it's a pro version. It can from Australia. And I paid 2500 Australian Dollarstore for it. Now he sent me a video of it booting up and on the commander it said pro. I have a r33 gtr I plugged it in to but my commander freezes up I'm thinking the firmware is different. He claims the new El commander will work.

I just bought the EL commander but will take 2 weeks to arrive.

What I would like to know of is there any other way to tell if it's a real pro. Here is a link of a video he sent me

Any ideas???

2500 for a powerfc? fark me. time to start hoarding and shipping them to the states. can get a link g4+ for a large chunk less than that and they are infinitely better.

I have nothing further to add...

except get a link.

That's funny cause that's what I told the guy that I got it from. None the less I wanted a power fc pro for the last 10 years. Just wanted to know if I got a real one.

Congratulations! You have bought an Ecu that won't get massive timing scatter at high rpm. Now you can tune it to make more power safely.

They are fussy on hand controllers and only work with certain versions.

I paid to much I know. I didn't really care for the price but at 2k usd. That was my limit. I've always wanted a pro version. I have 6 power fc from D jetro to L jetro for gtrs and gtst. So when I got this one I know I paid to much, and this is why I want to make sure I got what I paid for.
I bet if I was to say I'm looking for another power fc pro, and will pay 2k for another one. No one here would say they have one.?
Other than the price I just wanted to know of all the things to look for, to find out if it's a real pro.

After all I look at it this way. I helped a mate out by providing him the cash to get another Skyline closer to his goals.

yes it's a pro version, does your car start with the ECU plugged in? You can configure launch control to some low rpm like 1500, and check that it holds at this limit

I didn't start it as yet. I have ordered the El commander and once it arrives I will try starting the vehicle.
I guess that may be the catch. I notice all the screws are marked so if they are broken it will show.
I'm trying to ask a mate I know to borrow his commander so i can try starting it tomorrow.
I spose you did upgrade from a Haltech. Paid a tad bit much though!

I didn't upgrade from a Haltech mate. I sense the sarcasm. Lol. I know power fc is old. Just wanted one for a long time.

It's ok he is being serious

Kml. Hell.no. he can't be serious mate.
Then tell me how a power fc is an upgrade from a Haltech. Tell you the truth I'm so comfortable tuning a power fc. I guess change is hard to do. I need to stop being so lazy and start messing around with my Haltech ecu. None the less. I've wanted a pro for the last 10 years.
You have f**ked up. Get a PayPal refund and buy an emtron KV8 right now.

Farked up is how you make your money. That's the most important thing in life not how much you have. I hate even bring this part of me out. Imagine your rich and all your money is gone, your poor again. Now imagine your wealthy. Then you have lots of cash but look at the way you make your cash and the security attached to it. You ever heard of very wealthy people that are very insecure. Or rich people that are very insecure. I'm sure we all do. That's because of how you make your money. Money is just a false sense of security.
Again I hate leading this thread away from the topic.
In short make money the right way.
And you will never care about how you spend it. Associated with this comes low stress if that, none. Real happiness. And a perfect blood pressure.

You upgraded to a PowerFC is like me upgrading my Samsung S6 to a Nokia 5110.

You're building a $10k motor and it's being controlled by technology that's more primative than my microwave.

    • Yeah, that's fine**. But the numbers you came up with are just wrong. Try it for yourself. Put in any voltage from the possible range and see what result you get. You get nonsense. ** When I say "fine", I mean, it's still shit. The very simple linear formula (slope & intercept) is shit for a sensor with a non-linear response. This is the curve, from your data above. Look at the CURVE! It's only really linear between about 30 and 90 °C. And if you used only that range to define a curve, it would be great. But you would go more and more wrong as you went to higher temps. And that is why the slope & intercept found when you use 50 and 150 as the end points is so bad halfway between those points. The real curve is a long way below the linear curve which just zips straight between the end points, like this one. You could probably use the same slope and a lower intercept, to move that straight line down, and spread the error out. But you would 5-10°C off in a lot of places. You'd need to say what temperature range you really wanted to be most right - say, 100 to 130, and plop the line closest to teh real curve in that region, which would make it quite wrong down at the lower temperatures. Let me just say that HPTuners are not being realistic in only allowing for a simple linear curve.
    • I feel I should re-iterate. The above picture is the only option available in the software and the blurb from HP Tuners I quoted earlier is the only way to add data to it and that's the description they offer as to how to figure it out. The only fields available is the blank box after (Input/ ) and the box right before = Output. Those are the only numbers that can be entered.
    • No, your formula is arse backwards. Mine is totally different to yours, and is the one I said was bang on at 50 and 150. I'll put your data into Excel (actually it already is, chart it and fit a linear fit to it, aiming to make it evenly wrong across the whole span. But not now. Other things to do first.
    • God damnit. The only option I actually have in the software is the one that is screenshotted. I am glad that I at least got it right... for those two points. Would it actually change anything if I chose/used 80C and 120C as the two points instead? My brain wants to imagine the formula put into HPtuners would be the same equation, otherwise none of this makes sense to me, unless: 1) The formula you put into VCM Scanner/HPTuners is always linear 2) The two points/input pairs are only arbitrary to choose (as the documentation implies) IF the actual scaling of the sensor is linear. then 3) If the scaling is not linear, the two points you choose matter a great deal, because the formula will draw a line between those two points only.
    • Nah, that is hella wrong. If I do a simple linear between 150°C (0.407v) and 50°C (2.98v) I get the formula Temperature = -38.8651*voltage + 165.8181 It is perfectly correct at 50 and 150, but it is as much as 20° out in the region of 110°C, because the actual data is significantly non-linear there. It is no more than 4° out down at the lowest temperatures, but is is seriously shit almost everywhere. I cannot believe that the instruction is to do a 2 point linear fit. I would say the method I used previously would have to be better.
