Matty George
Hi all, looking at putting slotted rotors on my GTR. John from JMA auto in Melbourne suggested Dba T2’s. Any suggestions or recommendations from the people??Cheers Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/479161-which-rotors-for-gtr-r32/ Share on other sites
Murray_Calavera
I'd be surprised if you could get T2's for the front, might be able to get them for the back though. If you want better advice, we'll need to know what you use the car for Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/479161-which-rotors-for-gtr-r32/#findComment-7919552 Share on other sites
Matty George
The car is a weekend cruiser that’s it. Sumitomo calipers on it. It’s not a track car and I don’t thrash it. Just after something that will perform the best if I give it some. Dose Pipe Sutututu
They don't even make T2s in 296mm (non-Brembo) or 324mm (Brembo)... whoever that person suggested you those rotors might have no idea I would (if I were you) run DBA4000 T3 all round (non slot, longer life, less cracking, less warping, good cooling compared to OEM & OEM styled rotors). Get slots if you want the looks. Dirty plug, I can source & supply DBA rotors, Elig brake pads & Intima brake pads for you Link to comment https://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/479161-which-rotors-for-gtr-r32/#findComment-7919556 Share on other sites

I would recommend good set of Elig Sport brake pads, DBA4000 T3 all round and some good brake fluid to go with it. Matty George
Yeh sweet thanks for the advice. If you suggest that combo I’ll jump on line and get a set all round. I do prefer the slotted look but to be honest with the original rims you can’t see to much of the rotor anyway. Then dont waste money on slotted rotors as they only make a difference on the track and even then not much. They do, on the other hand, do as below. Just go buy some RDA rotors. Cheap and they work just fine. Worry more about the pad than the rotor. Even plain rotors crack, see in your pic above, the little micro cracks. Once you have a lot of those, they start to join up and become the big gash. All rotors do it eventually, some just last longer than others. I just replaced a pair of $1100 stoptech 2 piece rotors due to micro cracks. Didn't feel like living dangerously any longer. Id been ignoring them for a while but recently got to the point where there was just too many to ignore any longer. djr81
Yeah track rotors die by cracking. Road rotors either warp or run out of thickness. Cant see the sense in paying twice as much for a rotor just becasue it has slots in it. Dose Pipe Sutututu
I never get slots for myself, however everyone that buys off me has always wanted slots - so yeah customer is always right However, I did find (might be all in my head) that DBA rotors cool better than OEM style rotors, as the internal cooling channels have more surface area through those kangaroo paws. This is purely based on bro science, where I notice I could do 8~10 laps at Wakefield when I moved from OEM rotors to DBA4000 rotors with the same pads, and same calipers. GTSBoy
I put slotted (the ones with dimples also) RDAs onto my car, against advice (and also against my own opinion, but I thought I'd try them anyway). I'm not sure I'm convinced by the pedal feel. Probably wouldn't do it again. FWIW though, I don't think that slots are guaranteed to make rotors crack more/worse. Not like drilled holes do, anyway. They might increase the chances of cracks on discs that get the shit kicked out of them, but not on a streeter. admS15
Rear rotors ive cracked plenty of, quite frequently. Slotted, plain, dimpled they all suffered the same fate. Surprisingly the plains cracked the quickest but also had the harshest pads. Definitely heat related issues, the rears being smaller, thinner and getting less airflow. Im currently running some dim sim brand rda dimple copy rears. Yep copies of rdas, wtf. Have done a few track days and show no signs of cracks, yet. Matty George
Thanks for the discussion fellas. I appreciate the advice and I’m loving the slotted look. I don’t track my car so I’m figuring the cracking thing won’t happen on a weekend driver. BrianR32GTR
I run DBA 4000 T3s as well and Yellowstuff pads for street use... love them! Haven't had any issues what so ever and have a lot of mileage using them.
