Rears can tuck 17x9 +30 with stock arms (bought camber arms all round just in case)

Looks really nice, good work

Except that it is clearly too low at the rear (and presumably at the front) and will handle like a bucket of puss. The suspension arcs are not supposed to work with the wheel pushed that far up into the well.

If you're going to run it that low then you really should be using different bushes to push the rear subframe up towards the floorpan as far as it will go, and drop spindles. Drop spindles at both ends. The GKTech ones are good, and you will need/want to use their upper and lower arms with them also.

Coilovers are how they came out of the box. Only just got the car home today.

Got camber arms for front and back but don't really need them.

Got the car home for the first time in nearly 6 months.

Fresh kit, paint job and wheels.

Next on the list is chucking in a non hicas subframe which I'm in the middle of doing the gktech reenforcement plates on, and also will be looking at new injectors and one of mine has a leak.

Now that I can go back to working on this thing. Back to trouble shooting.

One of my problems is the car doesn't like to start again after it's hot (hot start). I have to disconnect the fuel pump to starve the motor, reconnect and start.

Got the injectors tested and cleaned, pretty much all above board. Will wack them back in, take the car around to Jaustech (SA), get the hot start config looked at.

What GTSBoy was mentioning has nothing to do with if they fit or not while stationary.

At super low ride heights, the top and bottom arms, along with the tie rods, move into some very odd areas, where as the wheel travels up and down, it will actually start to turn left and right.

Low ride heights, end up with bump steer.

Perfectly fine if you have a show car, but if you want to actually be able to drive down the road and have the car NOT automatically turn left and right unpredictably (with no steering wheel input) then super low height won't work. Camber isn't the only thing you need to worry about...

I know what he meant haha. I've raised the car since then but the moment I got them out the box without adjusting them, that's how they sat.

Been a minute. Haven't really done much with the car. Just enjoying it.
Pretty much finished my non-hicas subframe.
Figured I'd re-enforce the tabs and mounts before it gets painted.
It's not pretty but for my first time welding, itll do alright haha.

Pulled my knob too hard (haha) and shifter bushing became non existent. Went to get a gktech solid bushing from Sleekas and it turns out the bushing has worn that much, I need to get a new/not f**ked shifter.

If anyone has other aftermarket options they have used, hmu.

Turns out there are 2 different sized shifter balls, and therefore 2 different size shifter bushes - noting they might both have the same outer diameter where they go into the gearbox

Looks like R32 sedan is the smaller shifter ball

    • I wasn’t able to replicate the sound anymore. It was a one time sound so maybe it was just coincidence but it was like small pebbles being dropped in a coke can.   should I try cleaning the MAF? It could be it’s functioning but dirty? I don’t know.
    • Update 4: Hi all. The car drives again! Haven't driven for long, only to store it in the garage again, but the test drive was successful. The coolant and oil leaks seem to be fixed for now. Temps on the engine were also very good, while moving I never even saw 80C water during the approx. 30 minute drive. Ate up all the coolant in the reservoir though so will have to fill that even more when I go to the car next time. One thing that pisses me off is that the RPM gauge is still f**ked, I even resoldered the board twice and used copper paste on the silly screws that are used as connections. Next time I take it out I'll take apart the board and fit new components, I'll see if I can get a replacement IC for it.  I have an appointment set for 22nd of September for the engine tune to 370hp. Alignment also still needs to be done. My hope is that I can get all the legal stuff over with by the end of this season. Anyone of you have advice regarding intercoolers? Currently there is an APEXI core fitted, one of those weird hybrid ones, 600x270x76. I don't think it's bad but it's not new and now I still have the chance to change it now to legally include it in the paperwork. Only issue is that the only options that would arrive in time are a HKS Type R intercooler or generic Ebay spec intercoolers comparable to a JustJap one. Ideally I'd order a Plazmaman but it takes over a month to receive which would mean making the car legal has to wait until next season. Would love to hear some input on this. Same story for my injectors, the previous owner was a nunce and put ID 1050x on the engine. They work but are obviously not ideal at "normal" power levels. But I don't see a reason to change them unless the tuner says it's necessary. I read online before buying a different exhaust that the top secret style rear diffusers won't fit due to the size of the rear resonators. My buddy and I made it work by slightly "adjusting the shape" of the mounting bracket and making some spacers out of 3d print for the mounting bolts. Fits like a charm. Just putting this here in case someone has this problem. Even the hefty HKS Silent Hi Power rear can fits without hitting anything.
    • Well they got my money but they are not getting my gearbox !
    • It's needed for rolling idle up, and I think it is a decider on VCT also.
    • I mean, not really. Link ECU's can absolutely still have errors from the ECU thinking it's getting a sensor it's not expecting. I would imagine the speed at the ECU level in Nistune does absolutely nothing anyway? I assume the ECU does not do any fancy TC stuff with regards to front+rear wheel speed or anything of that like anyway. Someone who uses Nistune may be more fluent in it.
