Hello,

I was looking into getting a JPC RB30 water pump. It has a large brass impeller. Shouldn't corroded away and should pump more water.

Has anyone used or heard anything about their pump? Is it just worth sticking with a N1 pump?

Looks very nice  . . . however I have never see an impeller corrode out over time.

If you are using the correct coolant there should be minimal or no corrosion in the engine at all !

The bearings will probably wear out before the impeller has issues.

There might be an advantage if the pump is rebuildable as was done in dinosaur days of the past !

Just changed my water pump which was in there for around 14 years. Impeller was spotless, no perceptible play in the bearings but maybe the tiniest bit of moisture got past the seal. That's definitely a fair bit larger than a standard impeller though.

If its going on an RB25/26 then you are better off getting the proper pump.  The RB30 one fits fine but has one less mounting bolt up near the top......and they always seem to leak in that area albeit after a few miles.  The proper RB 25/26 ones seem to hold tight longer IMO.

I'll be install on a RB30 block.

Are you descriping the slotted hole?

When will yours be running? Keen to hear how your 9280 turns out.

It will be a ways away. I'm painting my car on top of waiting for parts all the time. I will definitely update when on the turbo when I get it running

Nice man. Can I ask about your head? What mods etc? I hit a fkn brick wall on my setup, so keen to hear others running EFR on rb30's.

I got my head worked on by Mazworx out in Florida. I went with their stage 2.5 package. Cams are Kelford 182-SE.

Looks great !

I took a quick look at their web site and the price is up there in comparison to other quite well know brands.

But in saying that, that's a machined bronze impellers and certainly looks the goods.

Still got to ask if its re-buildable ?

Overall its different. I figured I'd give it a try. If it's sucks then, i can at least say is not worth it and suggest an N1 or Reimax.

I forgot to ask about if it's rebuildable. I can only assume it is.

The price is a little higher but with the impeller material and machining I can see why.

How much was that WP? Just out of curiosity, what are the flow rates? I recently changed mine because Im a overly pedantic fkwit :D and decided to splash out on the Gr.A Reimax waterpump.. and it made a pretty good dent in the coolant temps.

I paid $327USD

I dont know the flow rate. I can imagine its high considering the length of the blades. Id have to measure the impeller and math it out

I saw your thread about the cooling issues with your intercooler and hypertune lol.

Yeah! Hence why I was wondering. Looks like it should flow better then OEM/GMB style pumps. Its similar to the one I have.

haha dam right about Hyperf*knshitTune. Honestly stay away from them. I should have gone with Plazmaman instead. At least they were straight up and honest when I asked them specific details.

Mind if I ask what specs of your head? Feel free to pm if you want to keep it low key. Id be happy to share mine, just trying to compare setups and understand why the f**k my turbos out of puff.

Yes in theory the larger impeller should flow more. from reading around, the vortex style impeller should be better than the open style

I have been dealing with them since last Sept for a radiator/fan combo. Stilll waiting...

Head:

CNC ported

Supertech Intake Valves, +1mm
Supertech Inconel Exhaust Valves, +1mm
Supertech Bronze Valve Guides
Supertech Dual Spring Kit, 92/82lbs
Supertech Titanium Retainers
Supertech Valve Seals

Kelford 182-SE

I chose the keep the quench pad as I havent read anything solid around to remove them for a street car. removing the quench adds about 70cc

Why am I not surprised haha. Peter is such an absolute cock. False promises after another. I was on the verge of threatening him. My advice, steer clear of them at all costs. He LOVES to take money, and once youre paid up, communications just drop and you have to literally beg for updates, where you will get grumpy short replies.

Anyways, your head is similar to mine, what duration/lift? Im running 278/286 with around 10.8-11mm lift. Did they do a flow test pre/post porting? Mine flowed 300cfm post.. which is supposed to be quite a lot apparently.

Yeah, Im not messing with them after this experience. I had to contact one of the fab guys on IG before pete sent me an "sorry we've been busy" email. The fab guy has been my POC for the last couple months. Now pending shipment.

274°-270°/280° | 10.55mm-10.50mm/10.50mm Valve Lift - 274°/270° split lobe intake, 280° exhaust. The head gets delivered today actually. I will see if it comes with e blueprint/flow sheet.

Hypertune, episode 2654264

I vote for a new sticky to steer SAU'ers away from Hyperf**kINGSHITTune.. at least that way their builds wont be waiting for Pete Griffin to pull his finger out of his vag and do some fkn work.

Perfect time for him to upgrade the tailshaft, diff, and axles...    And wouldn't need to waste money on redoing the Commos seats, as he could just buy race seats for the 5...   As a highly modded car he could avoid the ability to give it away to offspring too when they crash their cars...
    • It's really interesting how much it's moving left to right, and doesn't appear to be actually spreading. For this to be moving left to right, without flaring, means unequal forces being applied until equilibrium hits in one way or another.   Reasons it could be unequal; Piston sizes left to right are different sizes. Only minute differences. Pistons moving on different planes. That is, are they moving directly straight at each other, or slightly out of alignment. The fluid is restricted getting to one side.   Some tests you could do. Pull the bleeders on the left and right, fit each side with pressure gauges. It will allow you to make sure pressure is equal (and really, it should be as fluid flow is so damn low, so fluid flow dynamics shouldn't come into it).   With the calipers off the car, have both sides retracted as far as possible, measure very very accurately (think micrometre) distances between opposing pistons in four different spots per set of pistons. Firstly, on each opposing pistons pair, the measures on for different spots should be equal. If it's not, and especially if one spot appears to actually get closer compared to another, the pistons aren't aligned, and now the forces left to right won't be equal, as they're the forces fighting each other.   You can also pull all the pistons out, and very very accurately measure the diameter of them. If they're not equal left to ight in the pairings, and especially if the area of the pistons on one side is different to the area on the other overall, it'll all be out of whack.   My bet, is shit QC in making sure the pistons move in the same plane left vs right. Some minor out of square machining, and nothing will line up, things will want to move around.
