... won't be twinscroll tho. So buy it in T4.

The hype over transient response is real for those turbos.

I'd rather have a fabricated manifold change and not have to change all your other stuff, versus using an adapter and have to fabricate your intake, dump pipe, and have a gasket, bolts that come loose.

Plus all the other shit involved with mounting a turbo which I cryraged about many times with many failed f**kin turbine to manifold gaskets and shit, why double up. Get a f**kin twinscroll Vband manifold :D

You could realistically also just change your manifold entirely. That may be cheaper or more expensive depending on what the quote is, versus buying a new manifold, selling current manifold cost, waiting for fabricator versus waiting for delivery on replacement item, then dealing with "It mounts in the same spot!" to find out that alas, it is slightly different requiring fabrication anyway :D

Or you could just YOLO it with a single scroll rear housing... but we're well into 'but what's most optimal...' now.

You’re one high-energy passionate enthusiast and I’m here for it! Haha. But too late! Went with the G30-660 with a custom built housing! I asked Tao from HyperGearTurbo if he could add the option on the website and he agreed! So if there ever is another poor soul in my situation they now have the option to buy it ;) 

Total for supercore + housing: ~$3585AUD

and I was considering turbos from Pulsar/ HyperGear for  $1400-2500 AUD 

…Well! I’ll post up the dyno results when I get to that stage! Thank you all for your input!!

If you've ever followed his many builds, you'll see he constantly gets Greged or Gregged up.

Him a few others on here are masters of BW EFR propaganda, don't mess with them because you'll get EFRed up

It will work great. Water under the bridge by the time it's up and running. The G Series platform is probably the most absolutely rock solid option you could have possibly chosen.

Some of us.....like me.... have travelled many paths and know from experience that some options, decisions, paths are better than others.... :p

Sorry I don't agree, at least for the G30-770/900, The G30-660 isn't far off to a 700 response wise and doesn't make as much power.  Referring to my last few dyno runs from Rb30det. Power and response of the two G series tested were no where near to the current model ATR43SS-3. But I respect everyone’s preferences. Free data for everyone who’s interested to know the performance ceiling of those two G series turbochargers. 

All three turbos run to a point that no more power could be made / no more boost could be held. Everything else apart from the turbo stay unchanged.

UPDATE:

Hi all! 

As we are getting towards the end of this thread where I’ll showcase final dyno numbers and graph, I wanted to provide an update.

Tao from HyperGear has done an amazing job building the custom divided T3 housing for the G30. Communication was flawless, price was great, and now the housing is estimated to arrive in 7-10 days! Very very pleased.

I must add, if someone is looking for an affordable turbo and end up reading this thread, I would recommend HyperGear. Genuine brands are the way to go as their proven reliability, predictable performance, and there’s a plethora of information available for specs, flow, and more. This HyperGear recommendation is based on their excellent communication, dedication, and willingness to listen to their customers. I particularly liked their ability to create custom adaptations tailored to specific needs, which is a HUGE benefit over other brands. And if we consider the HyperGear provided dyno results, it adds reassurance knowing their turbos can compete against genuine brands.

Next update will be after the dyno!

Okay! I finally have the results! RB25DET with authentic G-Series G30-660. I wish I could share logs and tuning other details but the tuner was very reserved and didn’t want to provide it… anyway 
 
I’ve met my power goal! 521HP on pump and 620HP on e85. The sad part is I had a small boost leak that was discovered after finalizing my pump tune but with there being a schedule to uphold, the shop fixed the leak, and moved on to e85. I think we would’ve seen a better boost response and HP increase. 
 

The tuner said this:

starts building pressure at 3,300RPM

max boost at 4200RPM (27PSI)

Drops off to 22PSI short of 7000RPM and at 7700RPM it starts choking the engine 


Overall, with my goal of hitting full boost within 3,500-3,800 RPM, I was just 400 RPM short of the latter target. My other goal was 450hp, but the setup exceeded expectations with 521hp! I'm super happy with it! MAN, let me tell you, the car felt absolutely violent on my way back from the shop. Haha. I did a pull from third gear and I hit the rev limiter hard because I wasn't expecting it to go from 3k to 8k so much faster than when I had the GTX3076R.

What do you guys think? I welcome all feedback!

You're making 27psi by 4200rpm, savage!

Meanwhile I'm making 14psi lol.

Very fun street setup, I bet the tyres want to turn to butter each time you cycle through the gears. I hope you have a proper LSD at the back, i.e. not the factory centre.

Proof twin scroll is worth the effort/cost.

    • Checked with amayama and nope, the full S2 manual set is not available anymore. Unsurprising, but still disappointing as the ? on availability gave a glimmer of hope.
    • I've heard the Tomei USA head gaskets are decent if you want to o-ring the heads but otherwise not recommended.
    • The 296mm rotors are the R33 turbo brakes. The 310mm rotors are the R34 turbo brakes. The calipers are nearly the same, but not. They're the same caliper but the R34 caliper has longer legs so that it sits out far enough to go over the rotor. The pads are the same for both. When you say, "I bough tsome EBC"....did you just mean pads? Or rotors? 310mm rotors fit under 17" wheels. There may be some wheels without enough clearance though. I can't fit my fingers between the barrel of my wheel and the "corners" of my R34 calipers, but there is plenty of room behind the spokes. This is on Enkei RPF1. You can fit 324mm rotors inside a 17" wheel, but I'd be willing to bet that it would be close to impossible with the Nissan/Sumitomo caliper (using an adapter, of course), because the Sumitomo caliper is fatter than the Brembo caliper that is supposed to go on the 324mm rotors.
    • Hi. Can someone tell me what brakes(and mainly WHERE) can i buy brakes on R34 GTT? I bought some EBC which SHOULD go on my car(i have GT but it has GTT brakes) but it does not fit, Brakes are "too" small(296mm) Are 310mm be good or? I have 17 inch wheel so no "big boys" but for me driving i just need one that fits and i can get here in EU/Czech.
    • Since winter isn't that harsh anymore in Poland, i will definetely drive it 365 days a year 😉. But if the snow hits i will try it for sure and let U know. Only swap i am planning to do is of course R34 GTR front 😍.
