Figured I should probably throw this up for interest sake. In terms of power mods this time around:

- High flowed turbo

- Impul ECU

-* Plenumn Spacer

-* HDi FMIC

-* 3" exhaust dump / cat removal

-* K&N Filter

The *'d items are 'new' compared to my old 173awkw, so not a huge difference in terms of 'top power' but the power delivery is completely different - much more power early on in the curve, on decent boost heaps earlier.

gotta be very happy with that not being tuned yet,

get hold of the actuator mod off scott!

Definitely coming along nicely, its great to see the results and be able to compare between mods - essentially @ 80kM/h I putting down ~20% more power by really only doing air filter, FMIC and Exhaust dump.

More/Consistent boost would be nice

thats just it, the response of your turbo must be much better after opening especially the dump.

that actuator mod scotts doing gets you on boost earlier, and allows you to hold a better line!

or you get get a stronger actuator with a long rod, and bend/weld to fit!

1999 Stagea RS4S

HKS 2835ProS

Nismo 480cc injectors

Plazmaman FMIC (turnflow)

3" Straight through exhaust with mid muffler and massive rear can (very quiet car)

260 deg type B Poncams

Greddy Profec B

Nistune (car has run with auto base image for around 2 years finally figured out that it was supplied incorrectly and just re-imaged)

Tidy up tune with Jez to check what if any WOT mapping changes were needed after installing the manual image. It is anyones guess what Nistune is doing under the surface. Plus I wanted to work more on getting the car off the line. The Stagea bogs down quite easily unless you give it the beans off the line. Changes made to very low load fueling and VCT has sorted out these issues.

Thanks Bob. The car remains Ms. Wolv's shopping trolley so it is unlikely to see the dragstrip. She will be stoked with the improvement off the line. The car has always had a very quick midrange but this touch up tune managed to pull all the ends together. Jez tipped more fuel in from peak torque and it like it a lot. Each degree of timing was making big jumps in power. The neo's seem pretty sensitive to using fuel to cool the cylinders compared to my R33. No doubt E85 would be brilliant with this engine but it is impractical in Sydney at this point in time both for availability, cost of changing injectors, ECU, flex fuel sensor and fuel pump.

Changing to the manual image on Nistune sorted out some issues with throttle recovery and general smoothness which has been quite annoying for the last year or so.

s1 with neo and manual conversion.

3076r. 63 exhaust

38mm turbosmart waste gate

type b poncams

1000cc Bosch injec

nistune

044 external

walbro int

surge tank

extrem 6puck clutch

cooling pro return cooler

trust oil cooler

Mls head gasket

arp head studs

3" turbo back exhaust with nismo muffler

just need to stabilize boost and clean up under the curve but should have a bit more in her b4 exhaust housing runs out. but heaps of fun already

hell yeah e85 would not see that power on 17 with pump. reckon I can can get about 350 with a bit more playing but the .63 should choke about then. also about limit of the g box

Just got my NISTune done:

NISTune%20dyno%20AFR.JPG

Series 2 C34 with a boost controller and a home-made dump pipe. Not an amazing result, but not too shabby either considering the almost total lack of mods. Around 120awkw @ 3000RPM is nice with the weight these things are lugging around. Torque curve goes up at 2500 and then flatlines to about 5800, so she's very pleasant to drive. 13 PSI @ 2500, flat line down to 11PSI at 6000.

Edited by joorsh

My M35 made

168kw @ 17 psi

Had to bring boost back as it was pinging due to crap fuel.

Settled for 155 on 95octane @11psi (What i get for being out in the middle of no where with a shit servo around)

Not hard to fix

It's got:

full 3" impul Exhaust

Scott dump

Calsonic front mount

Impul ecu

Stock turbo

    • This looks great! Awesome to have the 5 speed with an LSD in this. The Recaro's look like SR2's or SR3's. It's a shame they've been retrimmed as they would have looked sweet in their original colours. I think I'd want my agent to be a little more up front and informative too. I've never imported but I reckon it would make me a little nervous, so the more info the better.
    • Thanks for doing that Duncan! Makes you a good person in my books. We don't get kangaroos or wombats here. But we have bats and it's similar. AFAIK it's often the mums with a baby attached that get hit because they drop lower when starting from a tree. If you hit an animal, check on it. https://www.ifaw.org/au/resources/wildlife-rescue-app An app to get the closest wildlife rescue contact.
    • My dream is also to have a proper hoist, but I don't think it will ever happen. My quickjack is probably as close as I'll ever get, it really is very good though.
    • Yeah we keep on in the dailies, it is pretty poor how many animals get hit and the driver leaves without checking....have saved a couple of little ones over the years. Bit of a gruesome job though, pouches generally need to be cut open because they are so tight and often the joey doesn't realise mum is gone so they are still locked onto the teat. I checked the modules in front of the DS wheel where an oil cooler should go.... There is the radar unit - that can go for race use) One of the 2 HX water pumps, the silver cylinder. That needs to be kept but might be able to be relocated But the bad news, the big computer mounted vertically in front of the wheel (blocking any potential air exit) is the electric steering computer. That is required until/unless i do a hydraulic steering conversion, and in CAD based modern car design it is not like I can just pop a big unit like that somewhere else (plus the loom would be too short anywhere else too). So, the passenger side is OK to clear out (just use a smaller washer reservoir, potentially elsewhere), but the DS no beuno
    • Well, all the best with the new camry It was interesting to hear about the UK process, it is generally a lot more streamlined here with a shipping agent looking after all the import side (noting the exact final price can still be a surprise.....) and I've used a few different brokers on the japan (or US) side, and never had any trouble with any of them....luck of the draw I guess. You mentioned you didn't get the auction sheet (understandable since you bought it from a dealer, not auction), but I always try and get hold of that because they are pretty thorough. I've imported 2x R grade vehicles over the years and both were fine, repairs in Japan are pretty thorough compared to here in Oz.
