dont forget, even if you buy one, there will always be things going wrong, and they are very expensive to fix!

dont think that just because you can afford to buy a GTR you can afford to "own" one, you need to be able to comfortably be able to be paying to fix, rego insure, mod it etc....

Its interesting. Perhaps I am biased, but it seems to me that outstanding examples (Grade 4+) have always been quite expensive, but what has happened lately is that Grade 3-3.5 cars have started reaching stupidly high prices (and Grade 4s have maintained a -- somewhat reduced -- premium).

LW.

the cheapest atm is around 23k already in the country (carsales had 2-3 for this price) I was hoping that around christmas they would hit around 20k but who knows

id love to get one for 20k but im thinking maybe its not a great idea since chances are it will need atleast another 5k done on it almost straight away unless you get lucky...and then if you have an engine blowout or what ever you will be paying big bucks to get it on the road again.

89's are going for 800-1.1 mill yen at the moment and that is crazy

last year they were going for 400k yen

91 models that are just as crap are going to 400-800 yen

crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

but yet people think they are getting a bargain

Fatz I agree that prices have risen a whole lot, but it is just one of those supply/demand issues. I know you're aware of what a Series 6 RX-7 sells for, or a WRX - compare that to the Trading Post over here. Many people happily part with $30,000+ for an RX-7 you can buy in Japan for Y200,000 [edit: well maybe not that cheap, but close]... If a buyer cannot access a particular market (ie. R32 via SEVS - until recently) then the prices of other cars isn't very relevant?

As 'they' say, something is only ever worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.

I hope I don't sound rude or simply stating the obvious - that's not my intent - the bargain is in the eye of the beholder and that doesn't necessarily make them stupid.

Mark

As an aside, I wonder what a VL Calais would be worth on a Japanese market.

My 2c

If your genuine and going to buy one now

Check this one out

I dont know what its like but the cars in perth

and worth a look at 22K.

Otherwise wait till early next year as there will probably be plenty of 89models

already in the country to inspect yourself.

    • I am yet to see anyone ever regret a quaife or helical. ...other than drifting/skidpan duties. I kind of want to upgrade my factory helical with a Quaife (but really it's not ultimately that different, and is a MASSIVE UNDERTAKING), that's how good the hype is about them, that I want to try them 'just to see'
    • D2 and Ksport are essentially the same thing and basically just generic Taiwanese manufacture. Better than ChinaBay crap, but... not top shelf. Öhlins have got to be some of the best dampers around, so likely to be a good option. It's going to get to the point though where I suggest you buy from Oz. We have at least 2x excellent options here. If I were you though, I'd be talking to KW about doing something for the R33. There's bugger all difference between that and the 32. In GTR land, anyway.
    • KW only offers a set for the R32 GTR. Popular options are D2 racing, Ksport or Öhlins. I have a D2 Racing coilover set, though I don't know for sure which one.
    • Well, the good news is you have more than one very good option for new coilovers in and around your country. Worth the drive over to KW to talk about GTR stuff.
    • Fair enough, I am in no way a tire expert so I'm not familiar with all the terms and conditions. I'll definitely note down the AD09 to potentially try in the future. Rain is not too big of a concern for now as I will probably only drive in the rain when I have to. And considering I still lack experience driving the GTR I'd more than likely take it easy too. I have coilovers in the car but as I barely got to drive so far I never bothered to even check if they are adjustable haha. The suspension is almost entirely old and worn as well so I suppose when I eventually fix that in the future that would make a huge difference.
