Ask Chris at inline, he has my old triton ute with 8 inch wheels. I put them on with nothing done to the suspension, Going from stock skinny ute wheels, and it was a huge difference. In a bad way. You have to really hold onto the steering wheel, or its all over the place.

My Volks are wider than the gtst wheels and i can feel it with them as well, but not as bad as the old ute.

Because ive got adjusty bits i have compensated a little, but it will affect other stuff if i go too far.

Fine tuning the camber and castor helps. But it takes ages of fiddling around, and you really have to diy because most suspension shops wont be that specific.

And say you did go to inline with exact specs, you need to measure it very carefully to get those specs, so you might as well diy while your at it.

So....

Its actually very easy, just time consuming. Youtube taught me how to do it. If your careful it will be very accurate.

You only need: A ruler, a level, a piece of string, a pencil and paper for maths. Some fancy angle measuring devices allow you to skip some of the maths.

To get the car perfectly level, you need, some vynil tiles, clear tubing, a bucket of water, and a ruler.

Dont give up on the beast, it just needs the right touch.

If Inline and Capital S+S cant find and fix it then thro car away - It's bent !

No Richard I'm not throwing it away  .. it's not bent, I've had the car for 5 years and have only had the problem for about 18 months and twelve months of that I hardly drove it, had a company car etc.

So, I'm at the point of either 250-300kW or doing cosmetic changes.

I've spoken to a few people and getting mixed thoughts. I'm siding with cosmetic for the time being.

Option 1-Cosmetic:

1.CF Boot lid:

2.Top CF vented bonnet:

R34GTT_Nismo_Bonnet_Chipped_01-500x500-5

3.CF mirrors:

screenshot86tz.jpg

4 a few touch up paint work on a few chips.

5. SAFC setup

Option 2- Power:

98

highflow/big turbz

nistune

+supporting mods.

Now, I'm siding with the cosmetic with a SAFC piggyback given that my mirrors are absolutely shot and need to be repainted (replaced with CF mirrors in this case). Bonnet has a few marks and well, the boot is a nice touch to it. I'll be going wingless and that's pretty much about it. Cons for Cosmetic is that the car does live outside :(

And, one day when I do finally upgrade to a GTR the mirrors and boot lid can come across with me

Power:

No real pros except for... the thrill of acceleration (My ultimate joy).

Cons would be more things to break, more fuel usage etc.

Anyone with their 2cents of experience?

Thanks for the input everyone, I really didn't mean to cause such a fuss

During the past 6 months of trying to rectify this I was amazed by one thing, both Chris at Inline and Capital S + S told me that the brand of tyre can make a huge difference. When I had this proved to me and I changed all tyres from Pirelli to Yokohama it was an amazing difference, like a different car. So with the trye change I came from a huge problem to a minimal one, I think from here it's in the 'fine tuning' as Mik suggested.

So like the lady she is I'll continue to fiddle with her, treat her kindly, service her regularly and give her a good hard drive every now and again, and life will be good.

Thanks to one and all ...

Don't bother with the SAFC imo.

Only something you will need to replace down the track

If you don't want to change the turbo etc

than Nistune is a good option to make the car drive much nicer, have more power, and better economy without needing to change turbos/injectors etc

As for the carbon bits.....it just screams "defect me"

if it lives outside don't get anything CF. CF gets damaged by the sun really badly. you will have to coat it alllll the time. Also what zeb said.

Speaking of Nistune, who does it locally? or should I say, who should we go to locally to get this done?

Only choice is Ed at Autotech in hume.

He did mine and got 245rwkw with Nistune

will need a few extra bits (like injectors + Fuel Pump)

hmmm worse than red? :'( man that sucks. Was getting a tad excited.

Might just get the mirrors and some power

Jeremy, excitement is in the eye of the beholder .... fast mirrors are always cool and a little 'classy' and power will give you that warm an fuzzy feeling inside, power is the gift that keeps on giving.

    • Put a fuel pressure gauge on it. Replace the turbos. Probably completely separate issues.
    • What copper washer do you guys use on the bleeder bolts? The existing one I have I had no idea where to find it in a local store, I did buy some online but that are only 1mm thick whereas my old one is 2mm+ thick and when I put the new washer out and squeeze the top radiator hose I can hear a bit of air but not with the old one. Does this matter? The new one doesn't leak, but the inner diameter is a bit loose whereas the old one threads on the bolt.
    • Howdy all, after being out a few weeks ago on a spirited drive in my GTR I have 2 issues that oddly have appeared at the same time. Whilst accelerating quickly through the gears all of a sudden i’ve lost power at the top of third gear (below redline around 6000rpm) for no obvious reason.    From that point onwards the car has been running rich on idle, won’t really rev under load without a ton of black smoke and the odd backfire, and dying as a pull up to a set of lights unless I keep the revs up around 1500rpm. In addition when shutting down the car that same night (I was 10 minutes from home) I noticed one of the turbos was significantly noisy on wind down when shutting off the engine. After letting the car cool down overnight it starts up fine, although once it gets to temp the revs start to creep up and down, the exhaust is darker than it should be and it also sounds like it’s running rich (fat note) I’ve put a new set of plugs in it - no change, the old plugs all seemed OK with two of them being somewhat richer/fueled up than the other 3 with 1 being borderline. I’ve smoked tested the intake system via the front of the Turbos, found a split vacuum hose going to the factory boost gauge sender, which I have since replaced.  Also found another leak on the gasket coming off the rear turbo outlet, have also replaced this. After fixing both of these leaks - still have the running rich issue. I’ve also tried another pair of AFM’s - no change here After pulling off the front turbo intake pipes, there is obvious shaft play in the front turbo, which now hisses loudly on light revvs although I can’t see why this would make the car run funny even under idle. I’m curious to know why it’s running rich before I potentially replace/rebuild turbos. The car is completely stock <50,000kms  other than an exhaust. Oil and coolant are all clear. I haven’t bothered with coil packs as it looks like they won’t be the issue due to condition of the plugs. Any help appreciated as I cry myself to sleep!
    • No probs at all. I used to love trying to dig up obscure info for those in need where possible going back 20+ years on SAU.  I did have another look and couldn't come up with any closer match. I'm leaning towards those skirts in your first pic are custom fitments, cut down/extended or from another car entirely and modded to fit an R34 sedan. I would've thought someone in Japan had them and taken a photo at some stage over the last 2 decades but there's nothing. Someone out there must know surely.
