Well I bought a car through Geoff at prestige motorsport in Perth getting shipped to fremantle in November and I'm still waiting for shipping. RORO ships are booked out for at least the next 3 months so i'm hoping my car will be on the next ship.

Hopefully.......

Damn its taking so long... Makes you feel like you've been stooged and that they've taken your money and ran off with it.

Hey I have 'just' bought a skyline r32 through Geoff; funds have just been received in Japan today.

And boy it looks like I could be up for some disappointment with shipping. But one thing I have notice nothing has been mention about my port of loading of my car...

My car is "Shipped Per- Mitsui OSK” and is getting loaded on at Kanda, Japan.

My destination port is Fremantle.

Has anyone had any experience with cars getting loaded in at Kanda and what to expect in delays?

Andrew

Who bought the car for you in Japan.

I bought the car myself through the aid of Geoff at Prestige Motorsport

The supplier who the car was bought through was Mark Hocking in Japan.

Have you had any experience?

Over the Christmas period only Yokohama was serviced so their is a back log everywere else.

Through Mark you wont have a problem as he will be working his but off to get your car on a boat, it is back to normal so they should catch up soon.

My rx7 landed in melb on the 25th Jan '05 (not thru kiwicars cause it was on Kanda port where kiwi dont go)

Had import approval in october, so not as long as some people. My bro's r32 4 door had import approval in october too and his arrived next month.

The shit of it is, the air cond wasn't degassed in japan and customs wont clear the car now. The bigger shit is i was told the aircond would be degassed in japan. The biggest shit is j-spec knew it wasn't degassed, and could have told me to write the letter any time before the car arrived so i could have had DEH (deparment of enviroment and heratige) approval before it arrived so it could have zoomed straight thru customs...

What a bitch, my car is so close and the longer it's on the wharf the more shit will go missing :P

You've probably sorted this out already, but for those who read this thread, you don't actually apply for the DEH exemption until the car has arrived in country. Your application is made through Customs. You'll need your letter and either a copied passport or JP'd driver's licence copy. It doesn't cost you anything either.

I doubt whether shipping is returning to normal just yet. Found out from geoff today that only 3 cars got onto the ship bound for fremantle. Not a single car got on from kawasaki, so that means more waiting for me.

GOT IT!!!!!!!

got there yesterday, gave it a quick wash over, put some 8000 in it and then straight back on a til tray to the workshop for 1 week of TLC

turnd up in better condition and more on it then I was told about :)

    • There's a good German place in Brisbane if youre up for the drive 😛
    • The German place in Cabramatta was rock solid, fresh pretzel cooked to order back then. Then it went all quiet, after all the poker machines were removed, then I believe it closed for good. I did drive past the other week and noticed outdoor lighting a big screen, but no idea what is there now.
    • Yeah I suspect even if you hold airmass per cycle/cylinder constant if you get too far away from stock you're still going to have problems running the factory tune within the bounds of the factory load scale. Cams, different displacement/rod ratio, etc. I'm just lucky that the GTIII-SS with wastegate boost + CA compliance cats is pretty much equivalent to stock turbos. When I have actual space I can finally get it tuned and modify the fuel system for flex fuel to 100% handle any detonation concerns when cranking the boost to whatever those dinky turbos can put out.
    • I would say no, why, because my daughter, who also lives in Goulburn, hasn't recommended us going there Pity, as we miss all the German joints around in Sydney, actually, the restaurants are the only thing I really miss about Sydney, and a special mention to Ishibanboshi at Bondi Junction, their Kara-age Don is heart cloggingly deliciousness (always added a special boiled egg...or 2) 😋
    • Does that German restaurant still exist in the old place out the NW end of Goulburn? When I say "out the NW end of"...I am really being vague. It was 1997 when I was last there, and the only point of reference I can recall is that it was on the opposite side of the main drag from the big merino. And when I say "opposite side of the main drag", I don't mean "on the main drag". It was either a couple of streets back from there, or might have even been out in the sticks a bit further. Was an old farm building or mill or somesuch. And when I say "the big merino" I might actually be thinking of a completely different part of town, because I just looked on maps and the big bugger is not where I remembered him to be! The food was good, consisting largely of various German mystery-meat sausage/loaf things and kartofflen.
