For those unaware, there is an AutoSalon display of cars at the GP this year. As a combined SAU/Fangartists effort, we have 11 cars on display. If you at the GP at all over the weekend - please come and say hi :(

The display is on the Golf Course, north of the lake, just east of the pontoon bridge - at Brock Hill.

Day 1

-------

Great atmosphere from the 'open day' crowds and weather. Sure, some stupid questions, some VERY stupid questions - but all good fun. Apparantly some guy's cousin owns Nigel's Supra... ah, no. Have set up a very comfortable camp of deck chairs, umbrellas and an esky - not quite a corporate box, but next best thing :P

The utes, V8s, classics and Porsches were all out today. Nothing special - just practice sessions. The V8s do sounds great though. Only event of note was the 'handicap' race between a BMW 120i, Jim Richard's V8 supercar and the BMW Williams F1 - run twice today, the later session at 4.00pm hat the F1 beat the 120i by mere centimetres. Good stuff!

The Roulettes were doing acrobatics right overhead which was great to watch. Plenty of corporate 'eye candy' - which mostly looks best from a distance :D

We all ended up tired, sunburnt and drunk - in true SAU fashion. The next few days should be even busier and more action packed so if you able to come along, don't forget to say hello :P

James

hmm. I might have to come and say hello to some fellow GTR owners. I'm 6 feet tall and I'll be wearing a Williams Jacket and Webber hat, so if you see me before I see you, yell out!

lol....im sure you'll stick out of the crowd:D

good on ya's SAU!! some eye candy pics please.

DAY 1 - Great day, great weather... very civil.

DAY 2 - I lost some SAU respect... Fell asleep in a drunken haze in my car... I'm sure everyone had fun taking silly photo's of me sleeping... I think I won't be sneeking in 14 beers today. Pretty good effort though, you think you could sleep through the sound of a F1 car zooming past only 30m away? I was very wasted!

Day one, a few beers.

Day two, more beers and a little bit tipsy.

Day three, smashed and walking with a pronounced drunk swagger. Mate even more drunk and sleeping on the train.

Awesome fun being had by all.

Pics to come afterwards

My head Hurts.

Was a great turn out of Skylines I thought. Saw a few of you under the umbrella next to Leewahs car. Only recognised Adz and Leewah. Saw James' hat under Golgo with some red writing on I seem to remember. Got some pics so I will post them up later when I have finished uploading them to photobucket.

    • I know people cry at the price of the Getrag 12-14k for a conversion now, but it really is a nice mid point. Not going to get change from 10k on a gearset installed.  $30k++ for sequential.   I know you run the risk of a damaged used one and parts are hard to get but as a street car gearbox its really hard to beat. If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
