Contrary to popular belief, body kits don't increase the power output of the vehicle. :headspin:

3" exhaust

Defectable (EPA)

aftermarket air filter

OK providing it's the only intake mod, and is paper element.

aftermarket B.O.V

Defectable, (EPA) all BOV's must be plumbed back.

They are the ones with all the answers.

There is also no need to create multiple threads, and bump threads which are less than 2 hours old.

I hope you have more patience behind the wheel than behind the keyboard!

Mate, unless you go to whatever mob of bereaucrats who police this, what you're likely to get here, is sombody's opinion, which they may, in good faith believe is right. It may, however, lead you up the garden path. Of course, the R32 GTSt would be the safest bet of the 2, but try to find out officially.

THERE YOU ARE FROM A FELLOW VIC Good move , call Vicroads

heres a news flash...

ALL R32 GTSTS are P plate legal... according to the law it is based on the cars factory outputs in their little black book...

so to answer ur question... YES it is legal for you to drive either one of those cars on your Ps based on the P:W regardless of mods.

based on the mods it wouldnt matter wether ur a P plater or not...

NOT an opinion... FACT

and yes if u like u can confirm with the VICROADS office.

ps. theyre both R32s...

I'm driving an R32 GTR on my Ps.  You won't get caught (with the exception of some areas...knox, dandenong) unless you're doing something stupid.  So my advice...be selective towards where you drive and don't do anything stupid (only on the backstreets ...).

please disregard this advice...

driving a GTR on P's is not legal. we do not advocate doing anything illegal.

we would rather you have fun an live, than have extreme fun and die

Further to that, if you have an at fault accident, your insurance company will disown you. (If you can get insurance at all)

C'mon, he wanted to know what best he could do, and remain at least reasonably on the right side of the law. Why not confine our comments to that. I, personally don't agree with what I believe to be over restrictive and overregulated approaches to traffic and vehicle matters -- If I want to take risks with that or push the limits, that's up to me and for me, and I wear any consequences. Does'nt mean I should give bad advice to someone else. Neither should anyone else. There, Ive had my winge for the day.

Seeing they're both Skylines, how can you lose? I prefer the appearance of the GTSt. The 4 I think is less a target with the cops, because of it's more "sedan' look. Onthe other hand, I'd like the 4 door for convenience, though I prefer the look of the GTSt, but I'm almost you're age if we reverse the numbers. If I was in your place I'd have to have the GTSt, and do my own mods, and put up with the extra attention. Come to think of it, that's what I've done anyhow. That's a long way round to say, you've got to make up your own mind, is'n't it ???

GTS4 doesn't necessarily mean it has 4 doors, the 4 means that it came with the AWD system similar to those in the GT-R's. Choice of going GTS4 (All Wheel Drive, more grip in the wet) or GTSt (Rear Wheel Drive, easier to get the tail out) is purely your own personal preference, not that of some randoms posting over the Internet in a forum. If you really need to, take a test drive of both GTS4 and GTSt

R32 GTSt's are below the power/weight limit, but judging by what's listed for mods, the police'd have a field day going over it..

As mentioned before, BOV's that vent to the atmosphere are illegal, same with certain types of pod filter. If you're going to put an FMIC on later down the track, the pod WILL give you troubles (maximum of 1 intake modification, so its either a pod filter or FMIC).

...regardless of mods.

I think you will find that if you modify a car so that it exceeds the P/W limit, it will become illegal for a P-plater eg fitting a RB25DET or RB26DETT to a GTSt will make the car illegal for a P-plater.
I think you will find that if you modify a car so that it exceeds the P/W limit, it will become illegal for a P-plater

im a bit confussed does this mean if i bought a R32 gts-t and fitted a 3" exhaust or a coooler it is illegal for me to drive because it exceeds the P:W ratio??

i thought it went on factory figures

I'm not 100% aware of the rules but just from a quick scan of the Vicroads website it says that 'if your car is modified, you may also need to obtain an engineer's certificate and do your own calculations.'

So from that if you started to mod your car you'd need to work out the new P/W ratio and if it did exceed the figure then it would be illegal to drive.

By the way, welcome to SAU. If you have a question, you just need to post it once in the relevant area, not multiple times. That way all the answers will be in one place..

If you enjoy a more traditional manual, its the choice no question.
