is it jst me, or does that list make as much sense as anything else the government do lol.

oh and the comment up there ^^ about mummy n daddy payin for it.... no offence dude but thats a lil unfair, i only have a 33 gts-t n people assume that and it pisses me off, dont be quick 2 generalise :P:)

Anyone else notice a vehicle that is missing? Look at my sig. Single turbo and quite capable of 500+ bhp. When RACV insured mine, they had no idea what it was and classed it as a Ford Sedan and I paid $1000 fully comp to insure it.

Having said that, P platers and a lack of turbo is a good idea IMO.

Dont think it covered the R34 GTR Nismo Z-Tune. I was luck in a way with p's as i got them 2 weeks b4 the 3 year crap came in.

Does this list mean they can't drive it, or own it? Both i guess

how are they going to police this ?

Simple. Pull over any p plater that has a car that could possibly be modified or on the list. (note that you can't drive ANY modified car under the new rules..it's not just fast cars banned) With a bit of luck this will get rid of those annoying fart exhausts.

Unfortunatly for the next 3 years there will still be p platers that can legally have the cars, so they better carry rules with them

There are quite a few cars missing I'm sure but you'll note-

Prohibited vehicle condition

The prohibited vehicle condition restricts all new provisional (P1 and P2) drivers from driving certain vehicles while on their provisional licence.

Prohibited vehicles are those with:

   *

     Eight or more cylinders.

   *

     A turbocharged engine (diesel exempt).

   *

     A supercharged engine (diesel exempt).

   *

     Engine performance modifications.

   *

     High performance six cylinder engines.

A list of prohibited vehicles is available to view and download from the box at the bottom of this page.

Please note: the list will be updated as required.

No more m3's and gt3rs as I thought would be the case initially :)

Also the fart exhausts might not be considered "engine mods" but "exhaust mods".

Silly implementation of a valid idea. But what else would you expect from the NSW Govt. and RTA??? :)

Looks like they got the work experience kid and a level 19 clerk to figure it out during their lunch break. Seriously how hard could it be to go through every model of car registered in NSW and filter out the obviously non-performance models?

Counts out several models of Merc, Saab, Volvo etc. that are by no means a performance car.

Bob Carrs report card: "Sets a low standard and consistently fails to achieve it"

bah!

Looks like im gonna have a sh|tfight on my hands for the next 6 or so months until i get off my P's

great :stupid:

Shouldve gotten them earlier when i had the chance ;)

Tell me again why they can't compile a banned car list based on power to weight? I seems that would make much more sense than this system. It may be a little more difficult to compile a list of cars and their power to weight ratios initially, but surely it would be alot easier to police in the long run?? As I mentioned earlier, a Holden HK Brougham with a 253 in it is going to have a vastly different power to weight ratio compared to an Integra Type R. As SW20-GT mentioned, you can still do a hell of alota damage in the family wagon.

Dimwits who want to speed and act anti-socially in their cars are still going to do so. They will be just doing it in cars with crap brakes.

Thats my opinion anyway. (Be it right or wrong!)

power to wieght makes more sense.

Problem is policing it. If they say "any modified car" it is very broad, and can get someone with any modified car, plus the cars on the list (which would have been determined i assume by power to wieght.

The problem would be that if they came across a car that they thought was above the power to wieght, they would need to send you to a dyno to find out if they are right. This way they just get you if it has mods.

Time for the rise of the sleepers!

I'm thinking an SW-20 N/A with huge camms and quad throttles. perhaps a stroker if i can find one and raise the compression through the roof. i'd like to see them pull down the engine to charge the driver with driving a modded vehicle! Oh, and your still allowed to strip the interior and add light weight wheels etc.

Welcome to the new scene people! Gone is the flashy BOV days, hello street sleeper weapon days. and i'm all for it! Nice breath fo fresh air if you ask me.

    • Ha ha ha, that's fair mate! We have the crackhead dogs now. Mainly because the missus wants the crazy dogs while she still has the energy and capacity to be able to keep up with them! Ha ha our current two are both Working GSD, there brothers and sisters (from the same litters) are in Police, Corrective Services, and I believe one did end up in defence force too. They're wild and fun, yet right now, both curled up asleep on the lounge room floor while we watch some TV. Mal is very likely the next dog (unless I get my couch potato guardian dog 😛 )   What are your Kitties names? Are you planning some house work, like those high kitty shelves, built in scratching post, and some cat passages from one room to another room?
    • Maine Coone, did look at but to big and fluffy As for performance dogs, we had Mals at work, performance dogs are fun to watch, but, way to much work for this old rooster
    • Yep, it was only an option on the Q50 Hybrid.  Same in Japan as far as I know. And doesn't use a centre diff like the Suby's do, so not the same as the WRX.  But it also isn't a reactive AWD like other Nissan AWD vehicles are, eg. Murano/Xtrail/etc.
    • You should have got a Maine Coone then. Only thing is they're big. But so cool, and just like a dog. Or, just get yourself a high performance dog. That'll teach you for wanting Parkour indoors 😛
    • Are you thinking of Bens R32? I don't remember if his went through the bonnet itself, but it went through the chassis rail. Brad (RISKIN) bought it, and turned it into a track car. It's funny how anti people are of Jim Berry now. I remember when I pulled mine out (during an engine change) and inspected it and found it cracking badly. At that point in time so many people were even on SAU, were so pro Jim Berry, and that was after Bens GTR exploded his quite publically.
