You must be damn excited to have it back looking soooo good... with all the dodgy stories I hear about panel beaters, it actually looks like you found someone to do an A1 job

can't wait to check it out in the flesh... and pick on any imperfections I can find because I am terribly jealous and insecure...

Thanks ALL!

I am soooo glad/happy to get such good feed-back from everyone, makes the wait that much more worth while. Having said that i truely do NOT want to go through it again.

From day one i had a look that i wanted to create on the car, and done/bought various things, while the car was being painted. It all has come together nicely and i couldn't be happier.

Best news was when i went to get the allignment done, once i got the car back from my mechanic. Centre Line measured it all up (camber/caster/toe) and confirmed that the settings were just as they set them, 3 months b4 the accident, and they didn't even charge me for the half hour :D

Engine bay has coped a little work too :), but i will wait till all parts are installed b4 posting any pics. Nothing too major/obvious.

Front bar is already chiped due to the drive to Shepparton, but there is plenty more chips to come :D. Did consider a car-bra but am not convienced that the bra itself would not mark the paint from all the rubbing and vibrations. I have spare paint so i prefer to respray the front bar when the time comes.

Anthony, i am "on-call" all weekend and next week, so i will give ya another call at a later date.

YAY

Congrats Al - the car does look awesome.

I had the privelage of seeing this car on a certain skidpan in Shepparton recently - the sun does look awesome on the paint.

PS. And remember, I did prove ya wrong by being able to drive it.

You also proved you could drive my car much better than Malcolm can :uh-huh:

Was really surprised, even in my intoxicated state of mind :D.

oh thats an awesome paint job i love it... what size are them rims too? very nice :D

Rims are 19", just the right size to fill up the arches :D

They are the same rims i had on previously, just powder-coated in Steel pearl.

My god that looks hot! Well done :D The overall look is bordering on perfection :)

Wheres the 'Skyline' light? Are you gonna put it on?

The 'SKYLINE' rear facia is sitting in my bedroom, all painted with lettering all etched out. The LEDs are in the shed, mounted on a PCB board and working. All i need to do is mount the board to the rear of the facia and seal the whole thing, but i have been lazy :(.

It will be done, soon :D , and will be nice and bright with 16 red hi-intensity LEDs :)

  • 2 weeks later...

AL Thats things GORGEOUS!!! Where did she get sprayed up? Im looking for a place for my car also.

Did they have to door the door jams and stuff? Or the colour wasnt different enough to bother?

Al can i also grab the offset an width of your rims please.

Trying to do a bit of research meself.

Cheers

The car was sprayed in North Coburg, on Bakers Rd. Not 100% but i think the name of the shop is John(maybe: Ron) Mace Pannels; i am bad at remembering names :). Door jams done, windscreens/windows removed, etc. Boot and engine bay was left the factory red-oxide colour. The colour is very different to std, especially in the sun.

Wheels are Lenso Muse, 19x8 all round, don't know the offset.

    • Thanks mate, couldn't find in VIC, ended up ordering one from NSW, getting rwc to get new plates and registration done.
    • Before all the EFR fan boys come in, have a look at: https://www.garrettmotion.com/racing-and-performance/performance-catalog/turbo/g-series-ii-g30-825-58mm/ It also comes in a T4 1.06 divided housing. I would dare say if you want response & also decent power, this thing would chop.   AND apologies, just re-read your post, you've already bought the turbo... whatever you do, make sure you stick with divided housing and proper twin scroll manifold.
    • People have got to stop doing that. ShatGPT is not a search engine. It is a hallucination factory.   I also would recommend the 1.05. The .83 will "work" for you , in that it will be more responsive, but I think you'll find that it won't be anywhere near as good running it out to 8000rpm as the big housing will be.
    • Decided for the first time ever I would tow my car TO the track day on the same working theory as bringing tools and spares "if I have it I wont need it, but if I leave it behind i will 100% need it" all setup and ready to go out and try these A050 for the first time First session showed I needed to stiffen up the dampers a touch but still managed a few 1:21's without much effort. things were looking good. Came in a dropped the tyres down  to 26/28 as they had gotten to 35/33C from 22C cold The first lap of session two I managed to drop into 1:20's. Then in the second lap into the second session. Coming into T3 and I suddenly lost brake pedal followed by some huge rear end vibrations and scraping sounds. Got it back into the pits after session ended and found this. in the attached video, all of the wobble is in the hub its self, wheel is mint, and bearing feels tight. lKXLqpd - Imgur.mp4   Deciding it was a bent spindle I tried to find bearing/hub assembly locally but was unsuccessful so it was loaded back onto the trailer i luckily brought it on to drag it back home
