best of getting something cheap to run to start of with so you save for something better. that's what i did

corolla auto, hyundai coupe, s15 200sx (aus delivered)

one of em is my real first car, not sure lol but the s15 was definitly mine, but learnt to drive on the corolla, learned manual on the coupe, then drove on Ps on coupe and the s15 (manual). i should've just gone manual from the start but mom tought me how to drive lol

I agree with nsm034,

My first car was a 1986 KC Laser Ghia. Went pretty hard for a 1.6L manual, started first time every time. Did wiked handbrake turns  And it was also faster than my mates 1998 Lancer! I had that car for 2 years so that I could save up enough money without taking out a huge loan to import my own car. Save money and don't be in debt.

R32 GTR ... had been driving for a couple of years before hand though... thought to myself why waste money on a sh!tter when it can go towards my dream car... three years of savings later, and i had it  Been driving it for almost 2 years now without a problem (besides the mandatory "im an rb26 and am going to rape your wallet, bank account and silver coin shrapnal bucket/container" problems).

Man after my own heart. GT-R or bust :)

Lucien.

1988 Series 1 VN Commodore Executive. V6, 5 Speed. Base Model, weighed nothing.

Was a bloody weapon.

I did Extractors, Custom Cold Air, Splitfire Plugs (!!!) LSD, Clutch and Suspension, Tyres etc.

It's the car I learnt to drift in. It was crazy fun in the wet and sometimes dry.

Learnt a lot of things about car control in that thing.

Great fun.

the gti was awesome . handled the best of any car i've ever owned including the skyline. don't knock them till you drive one , you'll be suprise what they can do

I always thought the "suspension tuned by Lotus" was a bit of wank factor and nothing more... until a friend took me for a ride in his (and let me drive it). These cars are damn impressive, and be up there with one of the best handling cars I have ever been in... and it came from the factory like that!

Said friend is now putting a 4G63 in it, should be a weapon :)

1984 Cordia GSR Turbo

1983 Nissan Exa Turbo

1985 Telstar TX5 Turbo

1987 Laser TX3 4wd Turbo (Ex rally car)

1987 Corolla twincam 88kw 4age

1990 MX6 Turbo

1992 Liberty RS Turbo

1986 Corolla SECA Twincam (run about to keep km's down on RS)

1992 R32 GTST

1990 Gallant VR4

1994 S14 200sx series 1

1996 Barina City - Auto 1.4L

This is from 1995 to 2005

The downgrade from R32 to VR4 was due to purchasing unit.

The downgrade from S14 to barina was due to Thieving Kunts and no comp insurance.

saving for wedding now so barina stays for another 6 months or so.

out of all those cars for a first car I'd say the corolla.

was going to do the same but opted for the skyline instead

My first car was a 1990 Ford KF Laser TX3, jet black resprayed from white....

I loved that thing, that is, before I bought the GTR

before the Laser myself and my dad shared a 1979 MKII Escort 2.0L Carby, that was a very cool car....later on when I have a spare couple-a-thou I wanna buy and do up an old 1976 MKI Escort, the best shape I rekon :)

.....besides the mandatory "im an rb26 and am going to rape your wallet, bank account and silver coin shrapnal bucket/container"

I is waiting for my shining day....I have a $6,500 ING account that I am not allowing myself to touch

Had the GTR a month and a half, so it shouldn't be long now  :uh-huh:

    • Hey all  im wondering if you can help me please I have put a rb20 box in my r34 gtt as my auto packed up and a friend had a spare box I know it’s not ideal but it will get me up and running for now. we have done the conversation and everything is working great but my Speedo we got a s13 speed sensor but my Speedo reads double now and I bought a speed converter but still not having any luck.  so I thought I’ll reach out and pick your brains  any help would be appreciated please as I wanna drive my car again
    • Drain it. I got official Matic D but you can get whatever is listed as Matic D compatible.
    • Thanks guys,  Yeah I should at least have them dynoed, at least then I know what I've got as a starting point.  The springs on these are hard as rocks. I vaguely remember Russman saying he was going to sell the shocks to me with the rocks fitted, as he was keeping the softer springs for his new setup.  I didn't click at the time but of course that was to let me know the shock/spring wouldn't be matched.  I also remember pricing up new springs around 2014-15, but, house, money etc. it never happened. So that was another reason to have them rebuilt. I have rebuilt the forks on many motorcycles so I think I could handle the seals on these easily enough, but getting the valving right would be a rabbit hole I cbf exploring.  Duncan, interesting to hear RP was tuning these back then. I might give them a call.  In the mean time I have been busy fitting sway bars. The Whiteline rear sway bar I purchased 15 years ago finally got fitted, along with the Whiteline front bar that showed up last week. Just waiting on new links for the front sway bar to finish that off.  And my spare set of advan AVS VS5's should be back from the powder coaters in a Pearl White finish sometime this week, with a set of Hankook RS4's lined up for fitting.  And then I just have all the suspension bushes to do. A comprehensive kit is on the way... Lots to do before the Ararat hill climb. Cheers guys 🍻
    • Nice car! I’m glad folks in the US have gotten past the FnF and are buying real cool cars like the 260RS I was with a bunch of mates in Portland about a year ago and spotted a green Stagea (just a regular 2.5T AWD) parked about 2 blocks away and they were like “a what?” So I made a bet with them for a round of beers and said “ok one of you run down there and tell me if the steering wheel is on the correct side” 5 mins later the American comes trudging back up the hill and goes “he’s right guys. Ok what beer do you want?”
    • Should replace OR drop the tank, give it's good clean. Might be worth replacing that entire fuel level/pump/cradle thing with this: https://frenchysperformancegarage.com/products/fpg-s13-180sx-r32gtst-single-pump-hanger-kit-billet-hat-6-v3-fpg-089?gQT=2
