Hi Brad - like I said, just rough calculation - I was using an average of about $30K per car. And used what I thought the car would sell for - not what $$ the owner put into it - If I used the later the Value would more near tripple my guestimate. I did also consider the GTRs retailing for >$100K each - but there were a fair few R32, etc there which would have brought the average down. Anyway - it's not a competition - no biggy - just thought I would put some reasonings behind my assumptions. ;)

oops ;) my bad

:)

I would make the judging easier my grouping the cars.

For example when the cars were being parked. R34 GTR's are located all together, R34 GTT etc etc. This will allow catagory by catagory to be done quickly. The sub total of exterior etc etc can then be pulled out.

I think this will also allow people to get some great pics as well

Paul, this was already suggested, and addressed earlier in this thread, or the one in the Events forum...

In short, I think it's a bad idea as people will tend to congregate around some models more than others, leaving owners of our earlier generation brothers with a drastically reduced walkthrough rate.

What a fantastic idea - I think that with a possible 100+ cars entering next year that the event could afford to spread the love about more by having at least 30 categories to help ensure that most of the cars entered were appropriately considered for their often unique and original attributes - this will also  help to ensure a friendly and sportsmans like atmoshere as the event grows and that the focus of the day is on all of the various cars entered and the individual tastes and influences of their owners - cheers Malcolm.

Although I'm all for expanding our trophy range next year, I don't think awarding more dinky trophies and seat belt pads will do anything to "ensure a friendly and sportsmans like atmosphere"... This lies solely on the attitude of entrants.

In fact, the whole idea of awarding more prizes to promote "sportsmanship" is ridiuclous and completely backwards in my opinion.

As I've said 100 times already. If you're concerned about winning a trophy, you've entered the wrong show.

I have to say I think 30 categories for 100 cars is a bit over the top. perhaps we could make it 'everyone wins a trophy day'? or 'bring your own trophy'??? I think too many trophys would detract a little from the people who actually deservedly won trophys. having said that a trophy for gun metal R32 GTRs with owners names starting with R and surnames starting with C would not be a bad idea.

Also FTR I don't believe MSRB26 receives any sponsorship for her car. I know it's had a lot of work done at Advan, but the build is all of her own hard work and $$$$$$$$.

EDIT: just realised that's already been posted. now I look like a tool

Merli,

From what I read about last years Show you might have been right, but this year the number were doubled and so had the quality. The R32's this year I believe ruled the day. But there were still heaps of interest in all other groups. I still think its a good idea and who ever does it next year will have the hard task of making it better.

Whats ridiculous is not accepting everyones constructive input at face value and using all suggestions as possible ways of constantly improving a forever changing medium.Sure there may not be 30 seperate categories to consider - but as Ive already stated a few more wouldnt go astray next time around - I cant wait - (it certainly isnt about who wins what/simply that fair principles are the constant goal to adhere to. ie:sportsmanship.

- cheers Malcolm.

p.s. no more posts from me till next year - thanks again to all concerned for an awesome day.

most of the entrant's turned up in group's and with a diffrent range of car's,some just cruzd and entered , and seemed that all group's were parked together so they could all sitt together and mind each other's car's while they get lunch or to do a wee wee . u wont be able to do that if we line all the 31's 32's 33's 34's all together, just an opinion

Your criticisms after both this years and last years SNS's have been focused purely because you didn't think that the judging was fair. I'm sorry, but you simply COULD NOT have had fairer judging system than we did this year, within the allotted time frame. All judges came up with different ideas on who the winner of each catergory should have been, and averaging them out led to the eventuating winner. Simple and fair.

And your input into the judging criteria in the first few SNS Organising Committee Meetings was greatly appreciated, I'm sure we made that clear... but some tangible help during the actual organising and running of the show would have been greatly appreciated instead of just showing up for a few meetings to put your 2c into the mix.

I just wonder whether your posts would be different if you had won a trophy this year dunno.gif

And we are taking constructive critisism at face value.

Meh - I had a pretty good time. A shitload of other people had a pretty good time. We all win. Yay for us:).

No one has any need to get antsy. Nothing is perfect. Life goes on.

I'll be seeing you all at the Drag Day, the Putty Road Cruise, the next Track Day, one of the monthly dinners, a drift event, a skid pan day, any other cruises, track or drag days not already planned, or next years Show and Shine.

hahahaha.... man.. i think no matter what you guys do, there will always be a few unhappy people! :D

it was an awesome day!!! i couldn't stop drooling!! hot skys wherever i looked!! well done guys! :) if i get me some nice rims, i may just enter next year! ;)

i cant believe this whinging get over it ffs

if u wanna win trophies build a car that is better then the other competitors simple as that

u dont win shit for having a car thats not as good as the other cars ur competing against.

congrats to the organisers

it was a great day everyone had a good time so just leave it at that

imagine if it rained then there would be trouble. i dont see any point having 30 prizes dosent that beat the fun out of winning?? come on if we go to that extreme!!! we might aswell all bring a trophie and hand it in and recive it back . i think the prize's were just an extra on top of being able to make it , didnt think there would be so much bitching. if you wanted to win something that bad buy a ticket in the raffle there were another 12 prize's there.

I tried that. When I put my form in the class was "Best R33 GTSt - Factory green, series 1, stock body and wheels".

My trophy must be in the mail.

Enjoy!

Thats what i was thinking. I feel sorry for all those R34 GTR owners because everyone will be crowded around R32 Gts-t's :D

Your car looks wild in the flesh Anthony, well done:)

And for what its worth, seing as we have gone over this so many times, I want to echo Merlis previous comment that those of you who entered the show and shine because you were chasing trophies really did enter the wrong show.

The bitching is pathetic, and those of you who are still complaining and criticising how the judging took place need to give it a rest.

Thats MY 2 cents.

    • Yeah i found that alot of parts can be wrong or "very" hard to get the real right one. I already bought some brakes years ago on me "old" GT calipers and they were wrong too 😄  I told them too. Even send them pictures...but they said "EBC catalogue has them on my car... So i dont know what their answer will be. I call monday them and let them know that they are really not on my car. If they were they would be already on a car...
    • Welcome to Skyline ownership. Yes, it is entirely possible parts websites get things wrong. There's a whole world of inaccuracies out there when it comes to R34 stuff (and probably 33 and 32). Lots of things that are 'just bolt on, entirely interchangable' aren't. Even between S1 and S2 R34's. Yes they have a GTT item supposedly being 296mm. This is incorrect. I would call whoever you got them from and return them and let them know the GTT actually uses 310mm rotors. Depending on where you got them from your experience and success will obviously vary.
    • Hi...a bit a "development" on the brakes. I spoke to the guys where i get brakes from...and they are saying that 296mm EBC are for R34 GT-T. I then went to their site: https://www.ebcbrakes.com/vehicle/uk-row/NISSAN/Skyline (R34)/ and search for my car(R34 GT 1998 - it has GTT brakes) and it show me this USR1229 number and they are rly 296mm rotors... So now iam rly confused... The rotors i have now on the car are 310mm asi shown... So where is the problem? Does the whole EBC got it wrong or my calipers are just...idk know what?
    • Oh What the hell, I used to get a "are you sure you want to reply, this thread is XX months old" message. Maybe a software update remove that. My bad.
    • This is a recipe for disaster* Note: Disaster is relative. The thing that often gets lost in threads like this is what is considered acceptable poke and compromise between what one person considers 'good' looks and what someone else does. The quoted specs would sit absurdly outside the guards with the spacers mentioned and need  REALLY thin tyres and a LOT of camber AND rolling the guards to fit. Some people love this. Some people consider this a ruined car. One thing is for certain though, rolling the guards is pretty much mandatory for any 'good' fitment (of either variety). It is often the difference between any fitment remotely close to the guards. "Not to mention the rears were like a mm from hitting the coilovers." I have a question though - This spec is VERY close to what I was planning to buy relative to the inboard suspension - I have an offset measuring tool on the way to confirm it. When you say "like a mm" do you mean literally 1mm? Or 2mm? Cause that's enough clearance for me in the rear :p I actually found the more limiting factor ISNT the coilover but the actual suspension arms. Did you take a look at how close those were?
