The rotors are RDAs, they are OK, imo not the same as DBAs but thats my 2c.

I have NFI about the pads, never heard of them, but heavy duty means sweet F. all. Seems like a fine setup for a daily car, but its not going to perform at a high performance level.

All good chaps. Ordered a set of RDA non brembo 350Z Touring slotted and grooved rotors and some RDA heavy duty pads to match.

$250 all up.

Not a damn thing wrong with the RDA H/D pads.

For the $35 per end I paid for mine a couple of years back they did a damn good job.

You're right about RDA's but only compared to 4000 series and up.

My understanding is, they're basically a trade servicing rotor; whereas DBA 4000 & 5000 series are a much higher carbon content, and hence much tougher & resistant to repeated heat cycling.

On a street car (which is 90% of Stageas) the RDA's are up to the job.

The Tuners Group is selling Porsche calipers for ~$611 each. Apparently they will fit DBA's 350mm 5000 series discs.

Still an expensive package, but getting comparable in price to some of the BBK's out there. Performance would have to be OK I'd imagine.

I thought it was worthwhile consolidating all the Stagea brake stuff in one place.

Series 1

Front Pads - Bendix Premium 1398BP

The generic Bendix code is 1398, the last 2 digits are the pad type (BP = Bendix Premium).

There is an alternative being 1250, this pad is 14 mm thick and the 1398 is 15 mm thick. It seems 1398's are hard to get at times, so 1250 is a good alternative. I found a set of Lucas Premium pads in the 1250 part number. They are the TRW manufactured, European spec material, so they should be OK.

Front Disc Rotors - DBA 4909

These are the same as the S14 200SX

DBA have these in stock currently

Rear Pads - Bendix Advance 1144 or Ferodo XL 1144XL

As for the front, the generic Bendix code is 1144 the last 2 are the pad type.

Rear Disc Rotors - I am going to try DBA 4908 (R32GTR), modified by maching down the OD by 30mm, all of the other dimensions are the same. This is a rather drastic reduction, I will have to check them for cracking for a few weeks before I sign off on their suitability.

DBA has these rotors in stock currently.

Series 2

Front pads - Hitachi HP63H FF

The guys with S2's haven't found a Bendix equivalent yet, but I am sure they will post it up as soon as they do.

**edit by mods** this information is not correct as the offset is wrong for S2 stagea

Front Disc Rotors - DBA 4963 (R33 GTST) modified by machining down the OD by 6mm, all of the other dimensions are the same. Unlike the Series 1, this is very minor machining, I would not expect any problems with this, we do it all the time on the race car rotors.

DBA have these in stock currently

**/edit**

Rear Pads - The generic Bendix code is 1399

Rear Disc Rotors - DBA 4908 (R32GTR), modified by maching down the OD by 5mm, all of the other dimensions are the same. Unlike the Series 1, this is very minor machining, I would not expect any problems with this, we do it all the time on the race car rotors.

DBA has these rotors in stock currently.

I will post up some pictures of the front rotors and the pad install as I proceed through it

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned, but has anyone checked the Bendix online catalogue lately for Stagea pads? They have pads for all now just having a look at this link.. except gtr.

http://www.bendix.com.au/catalogue?manufacturer=Nissan&model=Stagea#

I was looking around for pads as i got that squealy reminder from the rear shims today.

nice find

best to take the p/n and order elsewhere tho

for the price of Bendix ultimates, you may as well pay a few more $$$ and get QFM HPX or Remsa pads from GSLrallysport

Buy they already know the numbers for Stageas anyway

have had my stagea awhile now and just had some lenso 18" fitted today to replace the crappy stocks

and my brakes definatley need replacing, she's mainly an everyday driver.

what should i be looking at for brakes? not wanting to spend over $300 ideally, but ive no idea on prices.

Look at the post directly above yours; it holds the answers you seek.

This has probably been covered.. but hey, worth the info..

I wanted a bigger set of brakes on my S1 M35, but without the big $$ price tag.. I need to tow my race car. ( under 1200kgs).

I found the 14mm caliper bolts hard to get a set of 4 spots for. I rang around a few wreckers & found that the R34 GTT calipers had the same bolt size.

The only mod i needed to do, was to remove the existing backing plate. The R34 GTT kit , bolted straight on. Even the GTT brake hoses fitted up.

Great easy mod for $350. I fitted hawk pads from http://www.vsport.com.au/ .. Been to Phillip Island & back with ease..

Hope this helps..
