I've got the DVD's from Canman on SDU as well (I got his last set). 2 DVD's per race 1990, 1991 & 1992 including all of the pre-race coverage.

I've had some PM's about making copies of these for others. I am more than happy to do this but I am having trouble copying som of the discs. I have tried Nero, DVD Shrink and UltraISO, but they all seem to get stuck part way through.

Any of you guys have a DVD copy program that will copy all bits and/or ignore read errors? The discs are not encrypted, I think there are just some bad sectors.

The GT-R's, in terms of lap speed, are a long way off the current V8's.  Put that down to extra weight, boost restrictions and tyre technology.

From memory they were 1500kg. They had also had two and a half years of development put into them - basically with Winfield & Nissan money behind them money was not a object for GMS at the time. By way of comparison they were still appreciably faster than the four V8's entered that year. (Two for HRT, one for Brock, one for Glenn Seton)

The best bit was after spending the lead up to the race whingeing about how the cars would be unsafe at 1500kg Freddie Gibson had to do an about face & convince CAMS that his cars were safe to enter the race...

One of the guys over here wants to borrow mine to get a copy, so I'll see how he goes copying them and let you know. I don't know much about computers and that sort of thing, and I don't have a DVD burner so I can't try it myself

And going back to the 92 race, it was as a shame the race was stopped as the 2nd GTR with Crompton and Ollofsen (spelling) were in 3rd only 10-15 seconds behind Johnson and they were already on wets. Old Crompo would have won Bathurst if it didnt get flagged

Glenn Seton was driving a Falcon with Allan Jones, sponsored by Peter Jackson. He won the Touring Car championship the following year in it.

DVD decripter is the program you want.

I wouldn't mind a copy aswell. PM me if you get them copied.

I was lucky enought to hear one of the GT-R's at idle three or so years ago.  I went to the bathurst 24hr where they had one of the GT-R's out in the car park. 

They are a serious bit of kit and sound awesome.  So much harder than any GT-R I have ever heard.

9.4 to 1 compression ratio helps.

The recent track resurfacing and the current race tyre technology would see a good 6 second per lap improvement. Then there is the current minimum weight of 1355kgs, the V8SuperCars would get lapped 4 to 5 times in the 1,000k's.

And that my friends is why they don't let GTR's race with the Commondoors and Foulcans. The severe ass whipping would be very embarasing.

But fear not, you can see the R32GTR's whooping it up against the pushrod dinosaurs 6 times a year. Thanks to Duncan and the Man in Bulk (the current NSW Combined Touring State Champion).

The other Gibson car is owned by Terry Ashwood in the NSW club, he gets it out and about in it a fair bit which is great....group A historic races. He also has the skaife R31 and the Gibson Exa, the fury bluebird etc etc etc

drunken, any ideas what someone would pay for the fox or ashwood GTR? also I take it the GIO car isnt around anymore? and I think there might be 1 more? but Im not sure....

was the ashwood one in the condition it is in when bought? or did he bring it up to that show car standard?

Absolutely no idea of the cost...the mind boggles....collectable race cars demand huge prices, but at the other end of the scale cars with no history or impact on racing are basically worthless....eg you can buy an late 90s supercar for under $30k.

Terry bought pretty much the whole Gibson collection, so maybe he got a small discount :O I'm pretty sure the EXA needed restoring as it arrived crumpled from the big crash it had, not sure about the others.

But Terry has been very accessible and willing to come along to club events, so ask him sometime :(

    • Don't even try to run it on the stock ECU if you're going to have the boost controller bring boost above ~10 psi. I've already told you that. If you use the Nistune ECU, you will need to CAREFULLY read the available documentation for Neo tuning, and read some threads on the Nistune forums, to discover the various things you have to do to prevent the ECU from going bananas when the boost is too high. The is a table associated with th boost sensor that must be modified to prevent it from shitting the bed. This is just one of the things that you will need to do to the tune in Nistune, because the Neo turbo ECU will be expecting to see a number of things (such as the TCS) that are not there, and you have to block the DTCs on those. It is totally not surprising to me that you are having the problems that you are, but the solutions to these problems have been known for >15 years. So just get it done.
    • Hi. Sry iam not a mechanic and iam not at the car atm so i dont know 100% but they told they measure those and even try to change those. AFM they have two. Coils are new a they have my old one too. Plugs too. ECU...we have 25 NEO stock and Nistune 25 NEO.   But i dont know if any one those could be the problem and why/if/what can cause this, Only thing they did not check is fuel...but that walbro 255 is new(like 1,5 years)... That fuel pressure gauge idk...but i let them know Any suggestions?   EDIT: how can they know if it is like you say he ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high? Tha car has boost controler
    • Can you clarify what you mean by boost cut, do you mean it misfires both when under load (driving) and when stationary and out of gear? Or does the ECU pull power when it reaches a specific boost level that is too high (boost control issue)? Does it occur at idle with no throttle? When you say "the ECU is OK", what ECU is it and why do you think it is OK? Have you used the NEO ECU, and if so do you have a MAP sensor attached? Same for the AFM, why do you think it is OK? Do you have any way to put a fuel pressure gauge on it (even just a mechanical one between the fuel filter and fuel rail)?
    • Hi.. Just another problem. So maybe you can help. I(my mechanic) done swap from my RB20DE NEO to RB25DET NEO. Everything is OK but we have a boost cut. Coils/Plugs are ok...AFM is ok. ECU is ok. I have Walbro 255 but it "changed" sound few months ago(you can hear it ouside) you did not hear that when it was new(maybe faulty?) Sooo...what now? What can cause this boost cut? It is even when you standing still...
