Skyline GTR cigarette lighters. Not especially cheap either at AU$85ish a pop.

Proof that riced junk exists the world over. Note roof-mounted ski racks for superior handling.

I remain unconvinced. :D I can still picture the yellow sign in the train station as it was the most exciting thing in my life at the time (I spent a whole day walking around looking at Super Famicom and Neogeo consoles; ended up buying a some SNES games and bought the console later in the UK). Either way, I can probably cover a beer (long as its none of that pansy imported stuff) :)

Edit: Oh, and keep the pictures coming. Great stuff. I particularly enjoy the everyday sort of stuff (as weird as it sounds, the normal stuff is in someways the most interesting)

I used to pass through the station 2 times a day for a year and a half. thats a lot of times :P

I think those old Bluebirds are actually pretty quick when you do them up a bit. 2 ltr turbo u13 engine from memory with Atessa 4WD system. It may look ricey but I bet you it can move. Japan gets all the good shit.

yep you could be right but gee it looked like hell. but you'd have to really want a bluebird given the taxes on old cars and the giveaway prices on other cars in the second hand magazines (e.g. Car Sensor) here. :)

awesome man. i spent a year over there. (i actually bought my host familys stagea) as an exchange student. i lived in asakusabashi, which is the next station from Akihabara. some crazy cars there. found i had to head out of town a bit to catch some of the truer speed shops and garages. most of them are on the outskirts for some reason. saw some crazy street racing. genuine 11 and 12 sec cars, driven by 18-20 year olds, racing lambos and ferraris even. none of this "ill gun it in my commodore til i hit the speed limit" crap. these guys are crazy.

Suuupaa ekksutora speshyaru numba 1 fasto caaaru! if youve been there youll understand that.

yeah man these guys are serious, most of the time when they buy a fast car, they actually get out there and use on the odd occasion.

i guess cops in toyota crowns isnt much of a deterrent for them, hey?

roppongi is where its at - i worked in a club there for a while. (as a doorman, not a dancer).

Hi y'all,

More pix. :)

Even though this is one of the most ordered and recycling-aware places on the planet, there's also frankly quite a lot of garbage about the place. Things are good here right now, so people throw away lots of stuff. Here you can see flat screen tvs, fridges...

Even a pair of Bose 901s. They're still there day after day, slowly gathering silt and dirt.

An old arcade machine no longer wanted. Still had screen but no Jamma board (didn't check very closely).

    • There's restrictor pills in the stock boost control hoses. That's how they set the amount that was bled off and hence the "high" boost setting. The usual mod in the day was to remove it and send the "high" boost setting up to about 14 psi.
    • Thanks Duncan, that's the best info I've read. Furthermore after learning about the PCM programming side controlling the factory boost solenoid, the purpose of the solenoid is to "bleed" boost when pin 25 is earthed, thus allowing spring pressure in the wastegate actuator to overcome diaphragm boost pressure, thus closing or reducing the position of the wastegate flap creating more boost as the turbo is able to spin faster. It's pretty cool to see a designated Pill to do exactly this, would have liked to have seen it with a tiny filter over the end for those moments in vacuum.  The constant bleed pill has now been removed completely from the system and solenoid boost control has been restored once again.   Case closed 😂
    • The wideband reading is meaningless if it's not running. Why are you using shitty old sidefeeds on any engine, let alone a Neo? What manifold and fuel rail are you using to achieve that? Beyond that, can't help you with AEM stuff as I've never been their ECU/CAS combo.
    • Manual boost controllers (where a little of the boost was bled off) were quite common back in the day, because they were cheap and easy. Generally they had a manual adjustment screw rather than being fixed like yours. Down side is they always bleed boost, not just when you want them to so an electronic boost controller that uses a solenoid will have less lag.
    • Hello , im new here and i have A31 home build  RB25det neo stock eng / turbo  aem ems 2 blue connector  aem 3.5 map aem cas disk aem wideband connected to ecu  355 lph pump 550 nismo yellow injectors side feed aftermarket regulator  and won’t start with base aem tuner basic tune eventually flipped cas 180 degree so it triggers on correct stroke not in exhaust cycle  Now it won’t start Wideband reads 10 and 11 at lowest fuel setting  and will share calibrations soon for aem tuner i think something is wrong in aem tuner    please if you have any information, am very grateful
