the reason for insurance to be more expensive at youger age because teenagers are hot blooded; lesser patience, drink driving, has higher tendency to get into accidents, with or without powerfull car...

are promises powerfull enough to tempt you from vrooming ~~

Drink driving with teenagers is a bit of funny statement - you make it sound like(Probably don't mean it tho) that it is kinda a teenager specific thing....

Ah well - I just arc up when someone mentions drink driving and teenagers as I personally think you couldn't do anything more stupid...

never mind me... :D

1) It is highly unlikely banks will give you a loan.

2) Buy yourslef a bunky for a first car. Mine was a TR Magna, Big comfortable and not overly quick. but still looked great for a first car.

I tell you now.buy yourself a bunky and start saving some cash. When you have the cash for a deposit go to the bank, or keystart and get yourself a house loan. Buy a house. Once you have bought the house banks will throw money at you because almost instantly you have equity. Then get yourself the car of yuor dreams.

Cars are a massive sinkhole. You never make money from them and bank know this too. Houses on the other hand, unless you treat them like utter shit, will always make you money and you find banks will be more open to lending you the money. Or as dan (i think) said. Go on a holiday. At that age you dont need to get yourself in debt that is basically lost money that soon.

P.S - im sorry if this is fairly uncoherent.. I have just been woken up by a mouse at work and my eyes are hanging out of my head.

Sammie,

The number of replies this thread has got since you started it certainly shows that the community is trying to give you the benefit of their knowledge as there is nothing closer to a Sau members heart than someone getting their first skyline.

Talk to your Dad and if he is cool with a 32 as your first car he obviously thinks you can handle it and the responsibility and may even go as a guarantor to help you get it.

My only advice is to perhaps think about something a little cheaper, but always get the best example of whatever car you choose to buy as it will likely save you in maintenance and help with re sale.

P.S. I started with a 31, got a 32 GTR before i was 21, got another 31 and have recently bought another GTR. Sure i'd be a bit further ahead financially but the reason why we drive these cars is because we love them and the joys of owning them sometimes out way logical thinking :(

Cheers,

Rhino.

I have 4500 saved up and getting UP TO 10,000 from my parents, at no interest paying back over 3 years (I know im a lucky kint)

I got quoted from Just Car insurance yesterday for an 11,000 Skyline (r32 GTS-t) to a 18 year old at $2446 Premium with a $1800 excess for comprehensive.

I think im going to go for 3rd party for the first year or so, which is $338 a year and $1.4k excess

Fark there is a big difference between 18 and 19 yo's... mine was for an 11,000 sale price(would only cover for 10,000) and it was ~1800 a year... what the? maybe its cos i'd had my license for nearly 2 years already - with no claim bonus', clean histry n shit... what you guys reckon? and thats with minor mods - intercooler, non-existent stereo, bov, air filter etc...

    • HFM BM57 has a "bad" knee point, IIRC. It's not the same thing as the later R chassis MC.
    • The ATTESSA is functionally identical to R34; there were a bunch of JDM models that continued ATTESSA including Fuga/Q70, Skyline/Q50, Cima etc as an option. All with Auto only and I think mostly for snow regions. AFAIK there were no AWD VR30DDTT sold in Australia - it is on my to do list to check regs for racing a LHD car in Targa/ATR/AASA/CAMS events because if I can get the auto to work it would be interesting to run a 4wd car The Ecuteck TCM tuning is the same model as their ECU tuning, they already have it for R35 and Dose's favourite, BMW. You buy "points" to allow your computer to be tuned, buy either a bluetooth (phone app) or bluetooth+USB+Key (phone and PC) dongle, and pay for a tune that will be locked to your tuner ( ). You can also access the tuning software yourself but 1. it is mega expensive and 2. these computers have a billion parameters that intersect, so how could you ever spend enough time on it to get a decent result.
    • Or, is it a case of what it is like owning an R series Skyline? NFI what the previous owner has done or fiddled with... Ha ha ha After reading through this thread, I went on a bit of a research about the Q50/Q60. Now I'm quite intrigued by them! Is the AWD in them more like a WRX where it's always AWD, or is it more like the ATTESSA in the GTRs? By the sound of this TCU tuning, this sounds like a case of someone has made some real software for it, and you just need the right piece of hardware, and then you license that specific vehicle/TCU. Or is this a case of the software will be really expensive so only a few tuners have it, and you still have to pay a license per vehicle?
    • By popular demand.. it was a coil. Got my hands on 1 new OEM coil, replaced with the one that made the less noise difference when I unplugged it while the car was running and started the car up. No stutter and the engine light was gone. I guess I’ll buy the other 5 they have lol
    • No, code 21 is very straightforward. It can only be the things described in that diagnostic flow. In fact it has no way of knowing that the spark plug resistance is out of spec.
