hmm... i remember someone ages ago with a 33 taking the headlights off and putting the plastic into some sort of solution which cleared it up like nothing else... i think it might be a matter of taking the clear plastic off and cleaning it with something.

tried running a search through these forums for something related to this?

mine did it too. i had to take my light apart and clean the inside. It was ball breaking, but my car looks brand new now. well worth the hastled, just make sure you set a whole day aside.

i unbolted the light. and separated the clear plastic from the rest of the light assembly using a hairdryer. cleaned the inside of the plastic using brasso (which works Shmiko by the way even on the outside). Then resealed it using windscreen silicon just incase i ever have to do it again.

mine arent that bad, so far its only the top section, ie eyelids for the lights would hid it,

i will buy some of that product and use it this weekend

thanks everyone for your help

Any cance of you running me through pulling the light apart? My drivers side light is completly fogged and I didnt want to damage it while taking it apart.

cheers

do repco and supercheap etc sell this plastx stuff or is it a special stuff from elsewherre

It should be readily available from autobarn. I looked in a few supercheaps but they've had to order it in. Ive had my car 18 months and the one bottle is still going cos you dont use much at a time.

1)the front bar needs to come off to ge to the two bolts underneath the light.

2)Once that is done their are about 5 bolts holding the light in. Unlbolt them disconnect all the electric cabling powering the headlights.

3)remove metal pins holing clear plastic cover on then use a hair dryer set on hot hold it 15cm away from plastic

4) slowly pull the light apart prying it carfeully with a spatula(same as one you would use when filling cracks before painting a wall)

5)clean clear plastic using brasso. rub on let it dry and polish. wash out iwth water

6)once it is apart clean out all the black silicon from the section where the plastic sits inside the black surround so when you glue it together again it bonds properly.

7)put small amount of windscreen silicon into area which you have cleaned out and put clear light cover back on push together and replace metal clips. i suggest letting it sit for as long as possible then puttig it back on say at least 6 hrs later.

Hope that helps. it isnt really that hard just time consuming.

please note. some r34 gtt's have had the oem xenon kit cut out of the bottom. if this is the case with yours make sure you cover the section that has been cut and glued back with the windscreen silicon and let dry. This can let moisture in and discolour the clear plastic.

    • When you say your cams are 272/262 is that 272in and 262ex?
    • We're arguing semantics. I am saying 45 accel and a 55 deccel ramp are "2 ways". Even a 45 degree ramp and an 89 degree ramp is "2 ways", because it is literally... two ways. The cusco 55/30 ramp is a 2 way. It's two ways. I get it though - in normal nomenclature a "2 way" would be 45/45 or 55/55 or 60/60 i.e the same locking in both directions. And something like 45/65 would be considered "1.5 way". I would then say if we're getting into the nitty gritty then every locking diff is a "2 way" diff and we should not speak in 1.5, or 2 ways but ramp angles instead. Which ofc if one of those ramp angles is 90deg, that side is not doing any locking. :p So Nismo don't obviously sell 3 things. The fact of the matter that they only sell two items really goes to show that there's a 2 way and a "1,5 way" which is really a 1 way. I believe the actual lockup for the 'adjustability' of the GT pro is really just setting preload for when the ramps actually start locking up. It's not changing how much 'wayness' there is. It is (somehow) horribly explained. People just buy whatever diff and go "locks up good bruh" and that's what ends up on socials forever.
    • No, you're wrong, and you've always been wrong about this. The Nismo has 2 sets of openings. One is a real 2-way, and the other is a 1-way. There is no 1.5-way possible with the ramps that they offer. A real 1.5-way does exist. That Cusco stuff I posted is a prime example. If the forward drive ramps are, say 55°, and the overrun ramps are, say, 30°, then you will get about half as much LSD effect on overrun than you do on drive. It is real, it realy works. OK, you're slightly right. The Nismo has 55° and 45° ramps on the 2-way, so it does offer less LSD effect on overrun. But, I think that just means that they've (probably) sensibly established that you do not want actually equal LSD effect on overrun. You just want "quite a lot, but not quite as much as the drive LSD effect".
