  1. Which indicates the Mazda 3 has a higher average power over the rev range.
  2. Maybe - and not my cup of tea. But keeping up with a GTST in an in-grear roll on and around the track deserves respect.
  3. At least in gear I reckon a 3 MPS would take off. The launch of the 6 MPS gives it the 1/4 time advantage. Roll on would be a different story.
  4. I stand corrected! Cool. Things move quite quickly, and I s'pose premiums are going to be more consistent now (apart from the massive, obvious state differences).
  5. Yeah and underwriters load or discount to their discretion depending on the sitiuation of the client (competitors etc. - aside from built ins like multi vehicles), and also depends on their level. They may refer to higher up for either.
  6. I ment 'official'. Who did you speak to there?
  7. My car is being inspected Wednesday. Fingers crossed for a pass and I may be spotted somewhere out there too!
  8. It's not about a discount per se, Shannons don't do any official national 'club member' discounts. They used to but not anymore, I was told by a Shannons employee it all stopped because people were joining clubs to get a discount on insurance. It's about getting offered cover by them at all, you can be declined for not fitting their underwriting guidelines. Shannons insure the 'motoring enthusiast'. It is their main underwriting criteria so you have to demonstrate that. Frequenting a forum of your chosen vehicle or even one you don't have (ie. your favourite or dream car) is one of the hundreds of ways you can show you are into your car(s). Going to car shows, watching car oriented TV shows, reading car magazines, watching motor racing are all ways to show you are into cars.
  9. Great photos.
  10. Is it really as common as people say - giving them haircuts? Unless it happens in Australia I can't see why the Japanese would go to the trouble, for the dollar value and the fact they have a culture of honour and respect. I have bought several imports and imported myself. One was a 1985 RX7, didn't have logs (as most Jap cars) but the steering wheel, pedals, gear knob and handbrake all had zero wear. Those are what I would consider to be typical signs of a genuine low kms car if logs aren't available. My RX7 only 45k on it was in crazy condition for its age - even smelt kinda new. My R33 now only has 30k on it. Again has zero wear on all the above bits and smells new. Granted it has been complied since 1999 and owned by an old guy so history is kind of known (he threw out the log books!!! ). I looked at a 1993 GTST today which had 70k on it. Had been in the country since 2002. Had little wear on the usual parts and the engine bay was clean. I guess all I'm saying is they exist, but I have seen ones that have been wound back - saw a 1993 R32 GTR displaying 40k and it had paint coming off the plenum and wear on everything. Maybe I haven't seen enough with wound back speedos to have lost faith yet? So is it common place and where is it done are my questions? Japan or Aus? And why?
  11. Stock GTR, mod later if need be (which it probably will). You forgot resale too (although it has been mentioned now), a GTR will always hold its value over a GTST.
  12. I would go for an inbetween R33 GTR and that is exactly what I did! For me it has to be GTR, but GTTs and GTST are still very nice - particularly the R34.
  13. What darK said. Bring back Natural Selection.
  14. So true. That's how I live. V-Tec yo.
  15. Have to agree. The fact you are on here posting, being 'enthusiastic' about your vehicle is enough. The person you got on the phone didn't ask enough questions.
  16. Fark me I would have paid that for it! It's usually the way. Good luck with the sale.
  17. Put it in any one of the bank's online calculators - it's a lot of money unfortunately and not feasible for one person unless you are on a lot of cash. EDIT: Spelling!
  18. Very nice dezz - tasteful as.
  19. Spotted 3 (!) Sonic silver GTSTs on the 5 min drive home from Civic today.
  20. Very tidy r33madd. Car looks awesome campbell.
  21. Thanks ToF. And sorry I asked the question!
  22. Damn that's cheap. A whole system for only $300?
  23. Aside from the noise, do these offer any tangible performance benefit over a decent panel filter in the airbox on stock to mildly modified cars?
  24. Email here: [email protected] Hopefully you get a response, otherwise I can dig out an email address for a contact I used there - except it's at work. I think his name was Brendan? Emails are better than speaking over the phone for making a contract - it's all recorded as it went. Although domestic undwriters probably prefer to know who they are speaking to, hence the phone thing.
  25. Same thing happened to a friend of mine that had a GTiR a couple of years ago. It was reinspected a month later. Maybe I should just take it to Dickson to get the hassle out of the way.
