Hyper Gear Atr43Ss2 Or Precision 5858?
Blackkers replied to s213b's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
8:1 and e85? Boost the crap out of it -
Sell the blown motor throw a 2nd hand stocker in there, back to the tuner for a touch up/test. Then sell Cheapest way and it will do the job just fine

Running Without A Boost Gauge...
Blackkers replied to colourclassic's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Sounds like you've got a good plan but I just want to add something about the TurboTech MBC. I used one on a turbo honda prelude about 2 years ago and I had trouble with consistency, even running external gate low boost (10psi). The adjuster bolt can be locked using the supplied lock-nut however it would come loose after 10 or so days and it was the gauge that told me. I tried tightening it however it was cheaply made and broke in my hands. Having said that, the ball & spring type MBC's are generally well liked as they provide the best response compared to simple bleed valves. I wouldn't buy a TT MBC again. just my 2c, good luck with it edit: Just also want to say that running a modified turbocharged car you probably should have some sort of boost monitoring equipment in the cabin. If you don't like gauges there are digital options too -

What fuel are you running GTSboy? -
Just make sure he errs on the side of safety. and that he checks for knock with a KMon or similar. Sounds like you won't get an amazing tune but if he has a decent idea then it should be okay and hopefully safe

R33 Gtst - Getting Ready To Tune & Want Some Advice
Blackkers replied to GeeDog's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
+1 for this. if you are considering E85 in the future then this is the pump for you. The 255 is okay but if you switch to e85 on a highflow you will need the big pump. as far as turbo or injector upgrade. I would actually suggest saving a bit longer and doing both. A hypergear hiflow or a brand new turbo from hypergear + a set of injectors and a fuel pump before tuning that nistune ECU along with the Z32 AFM and a metal intake pipe will net you a very responsive 300rwkw +. If this is too much power for you simply turn boost down a bit. The JECS highflowed injectors from FIVEO will do the trick, they are pretty average injectors and I'm not really happy with them for street use but they will be fine for a mostly track car. This is expensive, but cheaper than tuning more than once. edit: didn't realise you still need a FMIC and turbo back 3" minimum to fully maximise a new turbo -
It shouldn't be a problem. no such thing as an auto PFC anyway. Did you change the loom at all? if not then plug and play. From what i've heard, not sure if its true; you can run a PFC in an Auto but it doesn't pull timing on shifts and will destroy the box in a week or so. So don't worry about your wiring and give it a go

Diff is 100% undisturbed, never opened and the shims are factory. I'm not worried if I have to bin this one after a year or 2. anyway I'm going to grab a 2nd shim to throw in there seeing as the diff itself is quite worn. The gears in the diff center are visibly worn so I'm swapping out the factory 0.8mm shim with a 1.2mm + adding a fresh 0.8mm (increase of 1.2mm preloading)
-
never in my ownership but that's only since June. The oil itself was okay, bit low maybe 1.2-1.4 liters in total (should be 1.7 according to the manual) I'm throwing another shim in there, its possible that it has extra shims already which caused extra wear. I'll find out once the thing is apart. on a side note; having a rattle gun saves a lot of swearing!
-
I'm not sure how much detail you can see but there are large shavings of metal on the plug itself. I'm planning to pull the diff and throw a shim in there today. Looks like my diff centre has taken a beating. I've got a single 0.8mm shim which I'm thinking won't be enough if the gears are quite worn. any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks

rich is better than lean when untuned but mate if you can hear it pinging I'd be pulling the CAS back a couple degrees until you get to a tuner; don't blow the motor

Good stuff mate looks exciting. I would love to convert my turbo/manifold to ex gate for many reasons! edit: which turbos are you going to test on this set up?

Stock Turbo Exh Housing Thread Size
Blackkers replied to mrsr32's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah stainless is a no go. they look good but you have to be careful where you use them. I had a mate who used them to attach the steering wheel on his go kart and the 3 of them sheered off from a bit of paint trading, scary stuff they're strong but they have no give in them, they just break clean off -
High Idle And Next To No Vacuum Built Rb25Det

geez 297/310 thats huge how much power you chasing? -
I'm on a fresh set of KU36's and apparently soft tyres are no good on the dyno. oh well should have thrown my old wheels on. doesn't really bother me though, never really had a solid power goal to begin with.
-
I think so. he wasn't comfortable with that amount of boost at first but the car performed well and made heaps more power as we kept adding boost
-
This was on the new 21U r33 hiflow. E85 touching 20psi backing off to 17.5-18. It was wheelspinning uncontrollably on the dyno. Managed to get a 306kw run but it was still spinning. you can see how the power curve goes dead flat. I was sitting on the boot lid getting covered in shreds of rubber. tyres were cooked. Tuned by Toshi, who did a great job on it. I would recommend to anyone in Sydney.

Rb25 Turbo Upgrade, All Dyno Results
Blackkers replied to Nacho Vidal's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Back again with E85. 1000cc injectors unopened rb25. R33 21U hypergear hiflow (new revision) touching 20psi, back down to 17-18ish top end splitfires FMIC walbro GSS341 3 inch turbo back exhaust with quiet-ish muffler 3 inch intake from scotty. Pod filter Z32 AFM. Z32 ecu nistune. etc Wheelspinning on the dyno with soft 235's made 281rwkw but the power curve was up and down when the wheelspin kicked in. We upped the ramp rate to 35km/h/s and had 2 blokes sitting on the boot and it made 306rwkw but Toshi reckons that's a bit high, more like 290-295 realistically . anyway here are both dyno sheets make of it what you want. E85 is pretty amazing. So much knock protection -
have you got any mods to begin with or is it 100% factory?
-
alright I'm leaving soon. I'll be there probably on my own. send me a PM it will come to my phone if you want to meet up. My R33 doesn't stand out at all looks pretty standard just silver colour with the factory spoiler in black
-
yeah just go with hypergear, the new 21U profile is pretty damn good. someone made over 320 kw on e85 with it which is amazing for the stock r33 turbo housings. other than that it performs well as a stock replacement with a bit more oomph. responsiveness is about the same as a stockker because the stockers are just old now anyway. edit: forgot to mention its cheaper than the competition too
-
nope i'm pretty new here

Yeah Wednesday 28 and sunny ill probably head down with a couple mates
