  1. performance wise it would be better to remove wastegate-bound exhaust gas from the manifold at or near the collector. Once it has been forced into the turbine housing you've already lost some power. The question is how much of a difference would it really make? a slight EGT drop? a small increase in timing in the top end? higher boost capability? less boost taper? All of these are good things. ARTZ am I missing something? this would be fundamentally better given all else is equal; but have we known one to fail yet or are we speculating?
  2. Nice setup. You can probably pick up a used powerfc quite cheaply 2nd hand. Otherwise you could contact Toshi in sydney for a Nistune ECU with a base tune on it. I'm not from WA so I can't recommend any workshops that could help you. But if you're asking which is better for you then neither really. Nistune and PowerFC are both good options that will serve you well. Make sure you don't buy a nistuned RB20 ECU though if you go 2nd hand. they don't have VCT control onboard so your tuner will have to wire up a switch and their time is $$. Good luck edit: also a decent dump/front pipe and 4"ish cat will net you a nice gain in response and maybe a bit of top end hp for what is a fairly cheap and easy job.
  3. the voltage you're reading across the maf comes from the ecu; you could unplug it and still read the same voltages. there is a 0-5v signal but only when the car is running.
  4. all you tested was that it had power and that pin 5 is likely earthed.
  5. Hate to say it dude but you're going to have a hard time selling those wheels for more than $80 and the coil packs are pretty well a throw away no one wants em these days
  6. Really? Back to normal?
  7. If you do that mate it's going to sound like shit idling around town. going from 3" to 3.5" on the catback is the BEST option but if you want to do it on the cheap then chop out the muffler and see what happens
  8. good nick. For some reason my S1.5 had these and a S2 bonnet when I bought it. I just replaced them and now these are up for sale
  9. That valve will do what you need if it is hooked up to recirculate properly. Should be some kind of adjustment on there. unfortunately that will score you a defect notice though if the police know what they're looking at. If you want to replace it the stock GTST valve or GTR valves are good enough
  10. Mate, highflows won't make that sort of power at that sort of boost level. 233rwkw at 12 psi is no where near a stock turbo. a GCG highflow will make around that power at 20psi. hypergear's will do it around 15psi. So unless you have a massively inflated dyno figure I'd be willing to bet your turbo isn't stock! The guys on the forum are pretty damn good at identifying turbos if you want to throw up some pictures? I'm sure someone can figure it out,
  11. OP did you hear it pinging?
  12. RIP bottom end
  13. I'd say that would definitely help
  14. Don't go too hard on the stock intercooler
  15. The settings will vary greatly from car to car even with minor mods. Just make sure you have no boost leaks and increase the duty cycle doing 3rd gear pulls until you get the boost level you want. It's not that hard. The first time is actually pretty fun
  16. It wouldn't be wise to start planning a rebuild now just because it's burning some oil. 20+ year old motor out of a turbo sportscar is bound to have some wear. I wouldn't worry. Getting it checked out by a tuner wouldn't hurt though. Use a higher viscosity oil and thrash it. I'd be willing to bet you couldn't kill it if you wanted to
  17. Should be quite driveable so long as you haven't fixed the leaks
  18. relax man just having a stab. Those results seem pretty good for a gtrs on 20psi with a whole heap of boost leaks to the point where it feels laggy. I wonder how much the cams helped that figure. Also do you have vct? Might be a factor in the laginess you're experiencing
  19. I don't think you know what unopened means bro
  20. What's the fine for that? I'm sure you can get away with it. You'd have to be really unlucky to end up being escorted to the inspection facility like some of the idiots who hoon around the city on a Friday night. Most of the time they just give you an EPA notice. I was given one a year ago because the car was too loud, I just needed an excuse to drop some money on a decent catback really; previous owner thought a 4inch catback was a good idea..
  21. yes but if you wanted 350rwkw you could have had a much smaller and more responsive turbo. and who doesn't want to maximise their setup Something must be wrong if others are making more power with less boost on 98. I'm not convinced that cams would be the only issue here
