I've never heard of someone blowing the motor as well when the stock turbo lets go.
-
personally I'd run the thing at way more boost until the turbo shits itself then get hypergear to highflow it. 11psi is still within what's acceptable on the standard ECU

Chinese turbos?

I changed my 4 inch catback to a 3 inch catback with an x force mid and rear muffler. 4 inch was overkill and the sound was ridiculous. I also have a 3inch turbo to cat. (HKS off the shelf whatever) The muffler shop said it would be much more restrictive however I made the exact same power. I was expecting to lose some boost in the top end and maybe some response, but nah its the same shit. so +1 for xforce from me

better boost control (generally)

yeah you really need a datalogger to assess that though.

Help Me With My Dyno Problem Please!
Blackkers replied to clip14's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
a new short block wouldn't be a bad thing but it won't fix that nasty dip -
do they actually soften with a few heat cycles? I just put a new wastegate and spring in mine. supposedly 1Bar spring in an aftermarket actuator (internally gated). It worked around 12.5psi when I first used it yesterday, now its about 11 psi. I loved the extra response it gave but now I can't keep the damn thing shut

I think you must have read what I wrote. Toshi tuned my car and when I asked about E85 he said its no good for a weekender (or less). I'm just going off what he said to me; water absorb = more chance of knock & potential to rust injectors if the car sits. I don't know anyone who's had that problem and I'm not going to let it worry me at all. I'm tuning on e85 later this year because everyone seems to love the extra knock protection, lower EGTs, Higher power and it's readily accessible for me so why not!

Hey Tao I was just wondering which turbo this result was from? I've got the standard R33 highflow (non-PU with 21U rear housing, standard comp housing machined out by you). I made 241KW on 15psi (standard injectors) I'm looking to change to E85 and put more boost (around 20psi or more if safe). Do you know how much power I can make? Thanks

Looks good mate good luck with the sale

RB20 wastegate actuator $75 - Holds more boost than the standard R33 actuator but still within what the standard ECU can handle, roughly 10-11 PSI depending on your intake/exhaust setup. Fits stock turbos (including OP6 rear housing) and Highflows. Engine mounts (pair) $120 - Fits non-hicas R33. I bought the wrong ones, these are brand new. They also fit S13/S14 180/200SX according to the packet. not sure if thats on the standard motor or with an RB25. Inspections welcomed JJR silicone intake $20 - used as an interim part. Trimmed for stock airbox. Useful to get you out of trouble or for stock applications, I wouldn't use it if you're running any more than about 12-14psi though. Series 2 AFM and Plug $75. Can be wired in as an upgrade to the S1 AFM. If you have a Series 1 I can install it for you its simple enough. Selling as I'm running Z32 with nistune. "DRIFT" brand adjustable Blow off Valve, adapter bracket and genuine nissan gasket. $50, Came off my R33. Please note this is not a road legal blow off valve as it vents to atmosphere. Standard S1 ecu. Not sure what these are worth? Asking $80 Single DIN tray with door. Not sure if this is a standard nissan part or whatever. $20 ALL PRICES ARE NEGOTIABLE. PM for my phone number, Will reply within the hour

Wanted: R33 Skyline Series 2 Gts Return Bov Pipe
Blackkers replied to jhall82's topic in Wanted to Buy
If you have the standard GTST BoV use a straight silicone joiner 28mm. If you've got a GTR BoV get a straight reducer 38mm to 28mm. Search ebay theres a guy in Sydney called ProFlow or something -
I can't tell you how pleased I am with a Nistune ECU. Set and forget. exactly like hondata for hondas but probably a bit cheaper

Manifold Shortening For Bigger Turbo ?
Blackkers replied to CALEBSNZ's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
yeah agreed. People hang shit on the stock turbos but if you've got a daily with only a couple stage 1 mods then they're pretty perfect. +1 for the neo turbo +rb20 actuator -
Quick question regarding "e85". Is it always going to be the same amount of ethanol? I've read that you can get varying degrees of ethanol content from the same supplier. I know Shell sells E70 and United sells E85 I'm talking variance within the brand. Also if I ask the guy at the counter is there any chance he would know the exact content? I'd only really want to know when tuning initially so that I don't tune on E70 thinking its E85 then one day run E90. I know an ethanol tune isn't particularly sensitive and I've got a wideband for security but I'd still rather know than find out later. Also if I tune on E85 then fill up with shell E70, yes rich is safe but won't I potentially lose some knock protection? or does the tuner account for this and bring timing back from the edge slightly?

you can disconnect the actuator
