Dodgy Things You Have Done To Your Cars
CEF11E replied to rgr34's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I once had a celica that i bought off a dude that had it stolen and returned 2 years earlier. it sat in the front yard for 2 years with no windscreens and was full of mud and bugs. i had a motor installed at a wrecker and he put "good 2nd hand oil" in it. I had to have the new windscreens sickaflexed on because i was too cheap to buy new seals. middle muffler was stuffed so i had a 2nd hand cat welded in there insted. I didnt have the locknuts for the wheels so i bashed the them off with a socket and had some retreads put on the rear with BF goodrich written on them. The carbie died so i went to a holden wrecker and got a webber off a gemini and some sort of adapter plate and bolted it on and attached the throttle cable with about 50 turns of fine copper wire. then didn't even tune it. I drove it like that the whole time i had it. one of the seat mounts was busted and it would not pass rego so i god kneed it and hid the crack with it and painted over it. I ripped out the dash because it had cracks and left the bare metal backing in there insted of replacing it. The car was made of bog, mud dents and cut springs with fibreglass flairs but i loved it... it sounded like an animal and went hard it was the best fun i have ever had in a car. -
The first mod i would do is search the forced induction performance... best $$$ to performance mod out there

I also have a car but no wheels at the stage... new ones coming from brisbane via horse and cart. I will be spotted at revolve digging thru scrap piles looking for some 4 x 114.3 dorifto rims. Woo Hoo I would like to see a skyline riding on fat 14'z yo... I will be there and drifting even if I have to make some damn wheels...

Rb20 Afm Some Questions For The Wizz's
CEF11E replied to R32-PSH77's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Mine maxes out at around 210rwkw. and reads 5.05 volts the car is making 240rwkw. the AFR's are a dead flat line as the VE goes down at higher revs. I am going to check it again in the colder weather to see if it is still fine. 300hp will be ok with the stock afm. it will max out but only by around 20hp and your AFR will not chance more than 1/2 1 afr. -

Shimming Your R33 Lsd And Your Results
CEF11E replied to Trust33's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I can confirm that it will only last for a matter of weeks/months. I shimmed mine 2 months ago and it starting to open wheel on tight corners under hard throttle. it is coming out and a 2 way LSD is going in soon -
This has never been done. you would be breaking new ground. pls search.....

there is another brand of coils available. FET. ther are direct replacements like splitfires. CLICKY CLICKY they are a bit cheaper than splitfire and said to be very good. Cheers!

I may be able to shed some light on it. you were not suffering from blow by before the cams by the sounds of it. but since they were installed and even on the dyno you were getting blow by I am guessing the cams have a much longer duration. if that is the case the overlap would be greater. and it has to go somewhere I have seen it once before and the problem was cured with adjustable cam gears and 3 deg retard on the exhaust and a whole 5 degrees advance in the inlet. There cars were regrinds and i do not remember the specs. the car was making more power after the cam gear adjustment and no more blowby Hope this helps! did the cams produce more power?

you will laugh, but it took a bit over an hour. you need a 13mm ring spanner and a long 13mm socket. also a really short 12mm spanner. use heaps of wd40 and let it soak. the nuts are those load breaking nuts that have tension from the time they are on till they are tight. it is a bit of a pain in the A$$ you will need to take the spline out of the rack to slide the spacer on. make sure you mark the splines so your steering wheel goes back on straight

last time we had 8 people we all got 3 x 20 min runs and a 5 min run at the end Good Times! Here's a tip : check the level of your power steering fluid before you go and make sure it is topped up. Also take an old sock with you and cover the power steering fluid canister as it usually over flows a bit. Also full boost is not needed. i turn the boost right down to give the car a bit of a break.

Aghhhh. I am going to have pike. anplanned things came up

I just put one in cubes. NVH? wha? The steering feels so much more direct you can feel the road a lot better. I took the car srifting last weekend and found that if the car was understeering badly i could FEEL when the front wheels got grip back. it made the car a lot easier to handle. 1 downside I can now HEAR the p/s pump working if i am parking and putting lots of load on the steering. it's a SSSSSSSHHHHhhh noise. it seems to act like a microphone seeming as there is no rubber damper there anymore. I got mine for $35 delivered from NV101 on these forums. it was well machined, fitted perfectly and was annodised black so you cant see it Stock looking is best!

Edit: Sway Bars Links & Bushes
CEF11E replied to RBwhatever's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
grease the saddle bushes and put them over the swaybar and screw the saddles 1 or 2 turns in so they are only just holding the swaybar. With the links screw the nyloc nut in till it is 1 full rotation past locking. you should now have enough leaverage to use the softest blade setting. once it is all in tighten it up -
Maxxis Maz Tyre - Any Good?
CEF11E replied to PHATR32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
the MA-V1 are a really good harder compound tyre and have heaps of grip. but being a harder compound tyre if you go spinning the rear wheels a lot you will loose chunks of rubber from the edges of the tread pattern. -
What Is A Sway Bar For?
CEF11E replied to joese7en7's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
swaybar = the best handling modification you can do on a skyline that has standard suspension. I have an R32 gtst and it suffered terribly from understeer and turn in was sloppy at reasonable speed going thru a sweeping corner. I fitted a whiteline adjustable swaybar to the rear and set it to medium. with zero other changes the handling has been transformed. my turn in is now fantastic and the cornerspeed is a lot higher the whole feeling is a lot better. at first it was a bit scary because i was not used to being able to put the car into the corner at the 20% higher speed but after a few days i got used to it and love it only took 45 min to fit and was one of the best $$$ to performance mod. -
