  1. Nice car Dan. The Albins appears to be a good gearbox simply going off the word of mouth around the traps so to say, I'm unsure who you were ordering it through or the custom 3rd party casing/adapters to fit in the R33 tunnel as described, assuming PRP then is the reason for your problems. Yes mirror image of what you said , things magically going missing, stuff that you paid for doesn't end up being in box (why is that so common??), general bullshit that is no good and shouldn't happen especially as it's a 30K spend the guy that runs the show cares not about the stuff you wrote about (work hard etc, pay big money, pay for best product = let down) also customer plays part of the R+D of the custom bits / linkages or whatever at their expense and burden. After sharing a similar view to you, I got bluntly advised its a privilege to even have any of their products so the waiting time (bullshit excuses etc, stuff magically grew legs walked out of the box, dissapears or magically somehow didn't end up in the box as you describe), which I experienced too ofcourse. The EFR8474 you bought off me is a great little unit very similar to the 9180, yes it's snappy and drove like you described and it's best suited for something to punch through a few gears in and then just cruise once upto speed, it was great in a H pattern box coming into each gear so I can only imagine how great it works with the sequential keeping it on boost.
  2. I also have Vcam Pro and my engine builder advised to stay upto 80 pound valve springs for it to work well
  3. You can purchase a 9280 rotating assembly and front cover, the existing rear housing from your 9180 will fit and clear. A lot of care needs to be taken when removing the turbine housing
  4. I ran a 9180 1.05 at same boost at you on a 2.8 with ported and oversize head, it was maxxed out. Yes E85 helps a lot. Switched to 9280 front wheel, made a little bit more power but wasn't worth it
  5. Spectrum Motorsports (Sold through Up Garage?) , appear to do twin turbos based on modern Garrett wheels. May be worth looking into but unsure of anyone in Australia who has ran them https://www.spectrummotorsportssolutions.com/collections/gt-r/products/r32-r33-r34-rb26-smr600
  6. Hi Beaker I've been looking for a similar thing looked into it a while ago then again recently, PM Sent.
  7. I'll also note that Herman did work I did not request and alluded that the reason he cant send the blocks is that he has done work he can't charge me for - total gypsy shit I wasn't able to get my two blocks back unless I paid for work he could not charge me for. I am aware he has done the wrong thing by a few others so I would not recommend to deal with him
  8. I sent an R33 block and an R32 block approx 12 months ago to be tested. 2 months or so passed and I got 2 reports sent back one of the R33 Block and then one of a R32 serial numbered block which had good results, unicorn spec. OK great I now can move forward and use good block as basis for build. Herman advised a mix up happened and that they needed assistance in identifying my block. I was shown a picture of a room filled with blocks and plastic tags, alluding that this is where the problem lies of finding my block. Later I was offered a swap of 2 of my blocks for a very good block, I simply offered to buy the very good block and bizarly was advised this is not possible and it's a one off deal kinda thing. 8 months passed and clearly the block had been lost or grown legs into another engine bay. Herman asked me to stop asking and advised that he does not like being hassled. Around a year onward from reception of my blocks, I received two blocks back , my R33 one and then instead of my R32 one, I received a mystery R33 block with tag "May be this one" and a test result with a date 2 years ago, pre-dating when I first sent my pallet of blocks.
  9. Just chiming in I also have noticed that quite a lot of high power GTR's have run N1 blocks yes ones everytime I spoke to an owner I noticed they had the N1 block. Seems that Facebook post oddly was removed, important information it was. I also remember at a similar time posting a question there which asked -- For every 20 or so high power cars on standard and N1 blocks, how many cracked?. Immediately Herman PM'd me demanding I stop asking baited questions. This was so bizarre. He also advised that he doesn't make any money on the $6-$8k PRP prepped cast blocks and it's such hard, messy and heavy work, and that it's a privilege to have one of them, which was the most bizarre thing i have heard. I Sent Herman a R32 block to get tested then 2-3 months got a report back with an early production serial number saying it was a Unicorn Spec 1500hp one, I then got told there was a mix up. During this time I got advised there is a great block with great test results I can buy if I like. 8 months later of asking where my block is, i got a pallet back with an R33 "61xxx" serial number block returned with a tag "May be this one" with report of a lower spec test results, what a joke. I'm going a Billet block I see better value
  10. I did a Step II with 9:1 comp pistons and there was a good amount of clearance, the go was to mock it up and advance the cam 50 degrees one way see if engine is still non interferance and then 50 degrees the other way and repeat on the stand I was not going to risk guesswork at all Yes now I have Vcam Pro going for 10:1 comp pistons and the go was to get custom pistons made with a dome shape that doesn't interfere where the valves normally travel to
  11. I purchased a few EFR's and yes quality kept going down with every purchase. Out of 5 EFR turbos every turbo had some sort of defect in the same general area however the 8474 was totally unacceptable / dogshit . They were distributed by various official BW distributors from Australia, UK and USA some purchased directly, others through online resellers. Most recent purchase 8474 was the worst. Some of the turbos had loose shavings and ends were extremely thin like foil It's been a while but basically the response I got was to the effect of - We or I can see it's understandably disappointing for yourself however the part works typical bureaucratic stuff.
  12. Hello. I am using a R33 GTS-T shell to mock up a custom turbo kit for my GTR, as I'd like to keep the GTR on the road while I make the turbo kit i'm using a GTS-T R33 Shell as a template. I'll fit a RB26 to it however what I want to know is whether the GTS-T subframe will clock (angle) and position height wise the RB26 the same as a GTR subframe. I'm unsure where the differences in GTS-T to GTR subframes lie, I assume it's in the drivers side for the AWD component clearance. Cheers
  13. 8474 didn't deliver anything special in my application, 2.8L high comp RB26 2.8l. WIth a 1.05 rear, compared to the 9180 it behaved very similar. It was quite more eager to come onto power faster on full throttle in 1st and 2nd gear, but it felt so restricted as soon as you got it moving. The 9180 didn't feel like it was choking the engine as much, overall felt much more healthy and a better match The 9274 was the next turbo I was going to try, but it looked like it would just be an extension of the drawbacks I had with the 8474. 74mm wheel simply too restrictive to swallow all the flow the larger compressor can give. Wasn't impressed with the 9280 from very limited testing I done
  14. I have a new Series 3 box, haven't broken anything yet with around 700hp, I go easy into 3rd gear. Have been tossing up about the sequentials. Lately the word has been PPG = probably not, a few people who've had them haven't been too satisfied with how they hold up A few big HP GTRs have switched to Samsonas and handling the power well. Albins seems quite new to market, unsure how good they are and how they handle the power. Big money to drop on a gearbox. I'm tossing up between Samsonas and Albins but will definitely want to know what's got the better track record on holding the power
  15. block brace is a good idea if you want to push for more power
  16. Speedflow hoses suit BW EFR turbo when used on 6boost manifold, removed from RB26. The short hose is used when a small dash fitting is welded to the factory hard pipe near the cam cover, it gives it a nice OEM look From the front. You may require an adapter on the block or turbo. Cost me about $350-$400. Sell for $100
  17. Stainless Dump pipe suit BW EFR 1.05 rear housing mounted on 6boost T4 manifold Removed from R33 GTR, RB26 Great for somebody planning an EFR Single turbo conversion. $300
  18. Red line is 9180, Blue line 8474. From limited street driving I can't tell a real difference at all in most conditions, no turbo is the clear winner but im inclined to feel the 9180 better suits my engine so far. I'll do some more testing with high lift cams and a 9280
  19. My EFR9180 and EFR8474 on 2.8 with Vcam Step II / ex HKS 272 8.7 Absolutely visceral to drive
  20. Hi Guys. I'm putting together my 2.8 engine. The exhaust will start off with a HKS 272 10.2mm lift. Eventually I wanted to experiment going with very big lift, such as JUNS 272 which has 11.35mm lift. I can only imagine to get that lift, the lobe will have a more agressive ramp and get more lift earlier in the duration. This question is for exhaust only as I won't be playing around with the intake. So far I had been under the impression high lift with same duration only ads benefits and no drawbacks. Can anyone with experience with this add some input?
  21. Yes that work in the pictures was done at Cut Corners Red Tuning
  22. The shop I used in Beckenham returned my car like this. It's a small sample of the amateur work done Turbo oil drain fouling on turbo manifold, look at it beginning to bubble up. Brought them a brand new gearbox to fit, they put no oil in it and Dynod it like that. They told me to not let it become a subject of an online forum discussion Drove a 50mm long bolt into the RB26 fuel rail mount thread replacing the existing 40mm Plazmamann one already in there. It bottomed out onto coolant rail, mount snapped, proceeded to Dyno car with snapped fuel rail mount. As I like to make fair assessment, I bought a spare manifold/spacer assembly and on the bench I was able to mock up that the installed bolt was indeed too long and caused the failure. Be careful on your choice and ensure you get good work regardless of who you choose. You earned the money fairly.
