Here's something odd for you Benny, an actual engine number that didn't cost me an extra few grand to get.- 56 replies

LOL Painting over rust? wtf are you talking about Benny? The only rust on that car was in the spare wheel well, a small section of surface rust which I showed the owner at purchase time. That was left unpainted. There was also surface rust on the strut brace I think? My towers were just the factory paint, the guards and Bonnet I had re-done because they had been done poorly in my opinion, Silver needs to be done a certain way, oh they were also fibreglass, so definitely full of rust lol Plus the front bumper was black, and fibreglass.... so I had it colour matched. The boot was also black, which I also had colour matched. Previous owner had them painted black because he liked it that way, not my taste but OK. The difference was I personally inspected the car and I actually know what rust, painted rust, and crash damage are, which is why I bought this and not one of the many others I looked at. How did you personal inspection go Benny? I also didn't claim it was pristine, despite being a lot cleaner than this example. I have this one on hand of the bay, the others are on a drive, but I'll dig around and see if I can find something better.- 56 replies

Hah, that old chestnut. I picked up a Ctek MX5.0 cheap at Repco of all places, good unit and came with 2 sets of comfort leads for quick changing between cars. You could also look at the cheap solar cigarette lighter trickle chargers. -

I'm usually down with "it", am across most memes but wtf is an art agent lol Anyway, I won't post my dereg and auction sheets as I do not own the car anymore, I do have them though (and the additional paid report I got) and I can safely say based on just that 1 picture that it was in better condition than yours yet at no point did I claim the car was pristine. I usually spent more time focusing on the blemishes and issues I wanted to address. I also didn't start a thread about a preservation society for "pristine" cars when I don't own one, maybe also why Mick'o hasn't made such claims if he's got a dented blemished Evo? Not all of us are trying to present a false image some of us just tell it like it actually is. From my previous. "Love your car, it's yours and you will make it awesome, but please stop trying to make it out to be some rare gem." You're only catching heat because you're going way over the top. You could've posted a build thread and shared the honest view of the good and bad on the car, your plans and hopes and you would've had 99% of people onboard, we love a GT-R build. Except maybe Fatz, who just wants you to blow it up so he can buy it cheap and strip it.- 56 replies

As I said to you Benny, I think your importer has a lot to answer for. Worst still is cars often look worse in the metal, pics and lighting can easily and unintentionally hide lots of blemishes. That's why they should inspect in person. No engine number? Rust? Grade 4.5? Wtf. Love your car, it's yours and you will make it awesome, but please stop trying to make it out to be some rare gem. As I already said, my car was arguably a lot cleaner and visually more appealing than yours and not one tuner/mechanic said anything remotely special about it. They see this shit all day. Nobody is telling anyone an average car is anything special unless they are trying to blow smoke up your arse and sell products/services. #staywokebro- 56 replies

Jesus christ Benny, this is getting out of hand. Please put down the pipe. A few of us are aware of the real condition of your car, so please stop making out like the photos you posted are current and accurate. It's fine to love your car, warts and all, but this banging on about 33s being the best thing ever has got to stop. I've owned a 33 and a 34, guess what they both suck for various reasons and are awesome for others. Each model is good and bad for various reasons, no different than any other series of cars in history.- 56 replies

I reckon it comes down to lack of confidence and lower standards. Society makes them think they are less than they are, so they settle for spuds like us This got deep... -

Seen those, does look handy. I have a mate around the corner who has all the big 3/4" gear so I will just borrow that from him, throw a cheater extension on if needed. Not looking to buy all new gear to replace $5 seal. -

You know what? I was wrong. You guys are incredibly helpful lol No progress on Silvia either, new house and changes at work eating up/costing me money. Need to put a stack away to ship the gear off so I at least have a long block built. I was having yet another flip flop moment with it all the other day, do I just sell all that SR gear, refresh the CA, cams turbo (the shit i sold....) and just keep driving it? But I'll just continue with the SR swap, knowing it will take a while to get it all done but that it should last a good while and have more than enough power for my abilities. Yes, I'm aware how painfully indecisive I can be, thanks lol Spare a thought for my missus. "Don't you dare sell all that stuff, just build the damn thing and drive it". -

That would mean removing the radiator. I have already had to f**k around enough lol It's a notorious bolt in Toyota land, people using all sorts of weird setups and tools. -

lol, I'll give it a shot. Next post "So guys, I'm posting from the hospital, things didn't quite go to plan. The bolt is still there, which is more than I can say for half the bones in my hand" I'll just get a bigger bar, it'll be right. -

I do have a couple little disposable butane bottles in the shed, the ones you swap the head piece from one to the next. Left over from removing subframe bushes lol Will need to remove clutch fan either way, which is also a shit free spinning pulley. That's a job for the new year as I'm off to QLD this Friday. -
