R34 GTR ECU removal
No Crust Racing replied to amrithd27's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
My 33R was stock and it still averaged 300km per tank on 98 being driven by a hoon... 185k per tank is well into e85 land lol -

No idea in Perth sorry. That's terrible economy. I would be looking for fault codes and checking EGT and coolant temp sensors etc. PFC will be fine for a basic tune, but you may have an underlying issue. If you are happy with stock performance, then stock ECU should stay in. -

I did this job in my 34R, yours has been modified incorrectly - As those should be 10mm bolts. You will need to brute force those pop rivets/shear bolts? as gently as you can to not damage the underlying bracket. As mentioned, it would be much better to use something newer. I had decent results with Haltech plug in, but there's lots of options. Ideally something that removes the AFMs if possible. If that's not an option, choose your tuner carefully as PFC+AFM has been known to result in various drivability issues. Ideally only use it for lower power goal. Good luck. -
About time.

That's bearable. If you're that far over onto a ripple strip you have bigger issues anyway. Can always shorten up the hanger if needed, how does it sound? -

I didn't say it made it all back and then some, I said it only just started seeing it coming back. It made less peak, less down low and we ran out of revs. 4inch is plenty big enough. Will gain nothing from side exit besides shit sound if you're into that. -

Given this is a track car, just make it flow well and not be too loud. Wanna be able to hear the bearing knock as soon as possible. Dunno about bigger power GT-Rs, but on my shit box Silvia we lost power down low and didn't start seeing it come back til the upper RPM limit when testing side exit. Use whatever shit you have to make it as cheap as possible. -

Thanks for trying! A seal kit is cheap and very simple to install, good time to paint/powder coat calipers etc if you're into that. I've rebuilt all mine myself and none of them have leaked, there's no heaps to it. To be fair, none of them were leaking when I got them, I just thought it would be good idea to freshen up before thrashing them. Only need basic tools, make sure everything is clean and smooth, that's about it. I also did my master etc, also fine. Well done on the PB! -

The last piece needed to start the long block build is here finally. Next step is to ship it all off when I find time as we're moving house. -
