  1. Get it imported from a reputable importer (I used Iron Chef Imports - very happy) I am still on the Chef's facebook and he has loads of good EVO's coming through almost daily. Much safer and much better oversight over the Japan side of the process. You will be told whether the kms are genuine or whether there is some 'concern' in that area, you will get the auction sheets, you will have access to wide variety of stock and they will find you colour and grade that you want for a good price. If you are prepared to wait for the right car - its the only way. I'd never get an import any other way. pm me if you want more details on what I went through to get my car..... Cheers The Baron - unashamed Iron Chef fan
  2. PM'ed Cheers The Baron
  3. Just my (limited) 2c If you want an R32 GTR nowadays - a good one - be prepared for upwards of $30K. I'd recommend importing from a reputable importer (see separate thread for trusted names) I got my dream car with none of the problem listed above - but you pay for what you get. It's easily and pleasantly usable as a daily driver - but usually its a once a weeker (it hurts to add to its 18,000 kms ;-) With a bit of TLC, garaging and a good workshop - there is no reason they can't last forever. Cheers The Baron
  4. Hello all, great to finally meet some of you guys in person. Hope to make it to some more future meets etc. without having to leave early to buy a Christmas tree ;-) Nice pictures too :-) Cheers The Baron
  5. This was forwarded to me. It appears to be virtually identical to my car - with even less kilometres !!! It surely needs to find a home in Australia http://page8.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h180695056 Cheers The Baron PS I have no financial stake or otherwise in this - its just a nice car in need of importing ;-)
  6. I've got the full service history with the car - it did all of 800 kms between 2002 and 2012 - mostly to the 6 monthly service and back...... Not sure what the story is - but it has a little trickle charger attachment for the battery and must have just sat there for a decade...... I liken it to awakening Godzilla from the slumber under the ocean.... :-) Cheers The Baron
  7. At 18,000 kms the suspension hasn't sagged through yet ;-) That and the extra VSpec tyre inch...... Cheers The Baron
  8. These are a bit better...... 1994 R32-GTR VSpec 2 Stock 18,000 genuine kms Imported through Iron Chef in Oct 2013 Cheers The Baron
  9. This one is mine at the top of the Black Spur after my first good run in it :-) Hmmm - in retrospect - iphone pic doesnt really cut it - will head out with the EOS today me thinks.....
  10. I've been a proud Skyline owner for all of three weeks now ;-) All I've done to my R-32 is take the boost restrictor out and I dyno at 196 rwkw - which is plenty for me. Are there more powerful, faster stock family cars nowadays ?? Ofcourse there are. Will they beat me ?? Ofcourse they will. But in the end - I am driving an R32 Skyline GTR VSpec 2 - and they are not - and I know who has the bigger smile :-) For the comparison to be valid however, I would contend that the R32 should be measured against the cars of its era and if you want to throw in a VF-GTS, the accurate comparison is against the GTR of the day - which is the R35 - and we all know who wins. BTW in terms of dollars - this comparison is still justified when looking at the prices of 1994. The GTR was and remains an 'Apex' technology car. Just my 2 c
  11. If you have the VIN number you can try and get the auction sheet from Japan which will give you some of the history.....depending on when it was imported.....
  12. The R32- GTR is in my humble opinion one of the true 'apex technology' cars - the true highlight of its generation.....there was nothing more..... The current Subi isn't at that level yet. If anything the R35 GTR approaches what I would expect from an 'apex' car using todays technology. You feel that difference....... Cheers The Baron
  13. One of the motivations was definitely to be the coolest dad dropping off the kids. The child seat for my daughter sits remarkably well in it ;-) Cheers The use it or lose it Baron
  14. Ok - took delivery of my car last Friday and its now fully registered. 'Racepace' here in Melbourne put it through its paces and it got excellent compression of 175-180 all the way through. We removed the boost restrictor and I get 196 rwkW nothing more planned at the moment. Some of the vinyl needed some loving and there is a small corrosion hole in the exhaust - nothing serious..... We mounted a Rapfix quick release and Momo as well - only thing required now is the Blaupunkt stereo. Also received the full service history in the mail today. The car did 800kms in the last 11 years, which seemed to mainly consist of the 25 kms round trip to the Dealer twice a year. I wonder what the story behind that is...... Needless to say I've put about 6 years worth on it in 1 week (is that bad ;-) I'll take some nice pictures when the Melbourne weather is better Cheers The Baron
  15. Get the car you want. The only way I found to do that and that met my budget and expectations was to use an import broker. They have access to far more stock then any local dealer. I used Iron Chef and got a great clean, genuine example with logbooks at a fair price. The only downside is the three months wait - but boy is the anticipation worth it when you finally pick up your car....... You get what you pay for and there are no 'super cheap bargains'. Just my 2c Cheers The Baron
  16. Having taken delivery of my R32-GTR on Friday, I can happily recommend the services of the Iron Chef Entree (finding the car) , Mains (getting the car) and Dessert (compliancing the car) were excellent. Cheers The Baron
  17. I picked up my Iron Chef sourced R32 GTR on Friday in Melbourne. The entire process was painless and the car is excellent. I can highly recommend the service. Cheers The now actually driving it Baron

  22. 2013 Toyota Camry hybrid Value: n/a - company pays Price per tank: n/a - company pays k's per tank: 800-900 depending on eco vs sport mode Cheers The working for Toyota Baron PS The second daily is a 1964 Morris Minor - but that's in the shop to have some car-cancer removed........
  23. Why yes, yes I do. Cheers The Baron PS On some other forums I usually try to put an adjective or descriptor between 'The' and 'Baron' depending on the nature of the topic and this can be quite difficult in order to avoid repetition, but its the little things that amuse :-) Cheers The somewhat OCD Baron - see there's an example
