  1. don't be shy folks. beer baron is getting poor and close to being unable to afford even my precious beer. so help a brother out and buy my seats!
  2. lol, and believe me it's not for want of trying. I think troy spends an hour a day looking for brakes.
  3. nismo AFMS are 60mm same as standard. they just have a VG30 sensor, inside a RB26 size body.
  4. yeah I saw the BMW F1 nordshlieffe laps on TV. looked awesome, but damn, 8min 34 seconds??? did he park on the back straight and have a quick smoke?
  5. dog engagement isn't what make the whine noise. it's the tooth profile on the actual gears. helical cut gears are queit. straight cut whine like hell. and as giant pointed out 1:1 means not as much whine.
  6. haha, to be honest I would have preffered the 33 brembos as they are black, and I wouldn't have to helicoil them. but on the other hand the gold isn't too bad, and the 34 calipers are newer. so it's much of a muchness.
  7. yeah, they are no good for what I want. but just interesting as it was the concept I was talking about before. using a smaller bolt with sleeve. they make these for people will cars like 34 GTT that have 14mm holes, but want to use 33 GTR brakes that need 12mm bolts. and yeah, I've gotten the heli-coils I need now. and it will be a piece of cake to fit the 34 brembos to the 32 GTR without permanently modifying anything.
  8. yeah that is true. we are talking new vs old. but even a used F+R big brembo or AP or Alcon kit is going to run to $4-$5K which is more than double what I've spent. BUT it's likely the other kit would be better. you're right I could have just done the fronts for around $3-$4K but even then it's still a lot more than this gear cost. and I would still be on my standard rears, and I do know of many people who have suffered after doing just a front upgrade and then had to spend lots of time trying to get some balance back. this is the poor mans upgrade!
  9. that's a good point. but I bought the following: a set of 34 brakes (included 4 X calipers, 4 X rotors, all pads, all brake lines). out of that I'm going to throw out the lines (re-use my 32 GTR nismo lines), throw out the brembo pads (switch to something more suitable for me), and machine the rotors (they are about 50% worn). and I needed 4 heli-coils (bought a pack of 10 for $15). and I bought a 33 GTR master which cost around $120. now an AP or Brembo front and rear kit for 32 GTR is up around the $8000-$10000 mark depending on which particular caliper and what size rotor you want. It will be better, no doubt about it. But so far I have only spent less than a third of that $$$. and that includes savman, the 33 master I bought second hand. Think it cost me around $120.
  10. 2530s are still available new from HKS. I would go the 2530s or even SS. as for AFMs, nismo AFMs will fit to your current Apexi intake kit. as for what RPM RS come on, search through Blitz's posts, he is running RS on a 2.6litre RB26 and posted a graph recently.
  11. lol, i wasn't asking you sweet cheeks! haha.
  12. yeah baby, you know it. should we allow b-man back in even though he's forsaken the lines? I think the last dinner he came to was at R+R manly. lol. that was a looong time ago.
  13. maybe we can please all punters and make these events the "monthly pissup" and then we can go back to having the SAU dinners of old where the goal was to try a variety of different restaurants, a variety of different types of cuisine and to enjoy a few beverages and talk about cars?
  14. the man has a valid point.
  15. well an little update for those that care (no one I imagine!). as usual Dave was right the heli-coil will be fine. I've bought the heli-coils i needs, and sent the rotors off to be machined. last night I tried out by hand and I can screw the heli-coil in a thread or two just by hand. so now I just need to borrow the tap to cut the thread a little and the mandrel to insert the coil and i'll be in business. this should be a much nicer way of fitting them than drilling out the hub. i've also bought an R33 GTR master cylinder which is on it's way.
  16. hey TJ, I would love to use some of your space. I have 3 small boxes weighing around 3kg each that need to go down. if you can help out that would be awesome. just shoot me a pm. skylinesgtts was taking it for me, but it's a mission for us to meet up as we live quite far appart. he is coming into the city today and I'm going to give him some speakers, but I couldn't carry all the other stuff on the train.

  18. somone was supposed to pick these up over the weekend, but they didn't come. so they are back up for sale
  19. yes, it's not working after a forum upgrade. there are a few threads in this feedback section on it. should be back soon.
  20. i should be there about 10am.
  21. i think the fact it fills the can on high boost, but not on low boost tells me it's rings/bores. and you said even when thrashing on low boost it doesn't fill the can (so it's not the high revs pumping all that oil that's doing it), but when you are running on high boost you are filling the can. so to me the diagnosis seems clear. but there is only one way to find out for sure.
  22. the exhaust cam gear doesn't replace VCT. VCT is only active on the inlet cam. think of it like an adjustable cam gear with 2 settings (1. response, 2 top end), but it can switch between them. so it gives you the benefit of an adjustable cam gear (again inlet only here) without the compromise. the reason people may say that fitting an exhaust cam gear makes up for no VCT is that they both have a similar affect on performance. but ideally you want BOTH.
