  1. Build / events/ story this will be a condensed version because a million things have happening in the last 3 weeks After making the car pretty and complete above went for a private test day to get back in the seat - limited laps due to time running out but sorted alot of gremlins and tweeks out and could tell the car felt more balanced and was happy to end the day with some good runs End of that week I went down to our other track at Collie for a round of our state sprint series - the track is more technical and good corner flows hadnt driven the long track basically - by the end of the day was starting to get a handle on the track and car ended up getting class win and 2nd overall to a radical We'd had a good day and thought we'd do one more session and go home not doing the last session but on the last lap - bang ... the death rattle what turned out to be a rod bolt failure and put a hole in both sides of the block With WA Time attack only 13 days way that we were gearing up for this was not great at all let alone blowing the engine fullstop WA Time attack is our premier event for what I want to race in and being in little old Perth its hard to get anywhere else to race with ease so we try to work towards this as our big event for the year All the round abouts and stories in between but basically we decided to have a crack at getting a billet engine in the hole for the event as this was our next move and a long term solution anyway - it was just being accelerated time wise Pulling out and cleaning dry sump lines/ system and 12ltrs + of oil off a car is not a fun job especially in a time crunch but we got to it We decided due to time constraints etc we would just run the old turbo setup as that would be bolt on and no fab needed so we stayed with that finally got the thing in the hole and base idling with 2 days to go Tune the next day everything went well and the result surprised us This is a Nitto RB2.7 running 11:1 compression with a full house Neo head and the little Gen II GTX 3582 pumped out the powas making 845 rwhp on the hubber at 33psi Next day was full prep mode late into the night but we got it done The first 2 sessions we battled engine cutting out with fuel cut issues, then we broke a suspension part the guys got to it Eventually we got a lap in won the event and put down a time attack lap record that Ive been chasing for a while Will just keep chipping away at the things we have planned and get more seat time as have to learn to drive the car as the way its tuned now is very different with throttle and way the power comes on etc which will be a good challenge as a driver to be able to push this to 10 tenths again will be fun One of the bigger things to come out of this for me is the car doesnt overheat at all the introduction of the new PWR crossflow rad and the Plasmaman cooler has just been awesome with lower IAT and resulting overall lower temps for everything therefore better engine performance has been great
  2. how good is it when the car just works ! well done mate alot of hard work to get it there tough good times on track though
  3. From here I dont know to be honest I didnt expect to have the engine I have and that result from my old turbo I bought the G35 1050 9 + months ago to go in a cast 9:1 rb28 with rb25 head converted to solid I was going to build to get a nice 800hp ish due to many factors Ive just put in a Billet Nitto 2.7 with full racehead at 11:1 and got that results because I had to make an event and didnt have time to put the new turbo setup on (needed fab) So spose id expect a little bit more, a newer turbo (time use wise) and be able to live in a higher rpm range a bit better which is where this needs to be run ?
  4. Very different engines and also different goals though But yes it did surprise
  5. 7.3kg with bubble wrap ha
  6. Not a G series so dont know if its wanted in here? If not can post in dyno results, but thought it might be of interest to show the actual capacity to move air of the Gen ll GTX3582 when pushed a bit and right everything behind it Not front loaded for mass response and specific for circuit car with sequential Rb2.7 neo head vct high compression 845 rwhp at 33psi 8500rpm hub dyno Dont get too technical on me I just drive and its fast it was more for interest sake of those whom might care 😄 G35 1050 1.01 to come soon
  7. mine will be going on in the next month or so ish by March latest think by powers of deduction we might have same tuner also unfortunately mine wont be back to back as im changing turbos also
  8. @Unzipped Composites in Perth - this is for a 4 door. Do it 😆
  9. Thanks mate Already have the billet to go in soon its just rb2.7 😄 No to 4wd lol, not allowed space frame or active aero so I can save money there hahaha Only been out twice with the car now both in the dry obviously - ABS you set it up with the ABS off how you want it - turn it one knob on. Any more than that on a good track it ruins your braking I think From quick analysis Its doesnt make you brake any better as such but it allows you to push your braking harder to test the limits and if you go too far it 'saves' you from locking up or binning it
  10. too much info through all this or not enough ?? new look is done out for testing so much to do still never ends
  11. not got alot of luck there do you new car interior really nice - wish they all stayed that way Is it literally going to be everything from the 180 straight into the s15 or anything new?
  12. I havent driven in 8 mths and changed so much in the car on a busy track I didnt know which way was up haha
  13. 9.3kg from roof and exactly 10kg a side saved compared to my gutted metal doors so 30kg all up Its amazing how many kgs creeps back in though with bigger this and that and safety etc 😳 Yeop. Nearly all the suspension arms had been messed with so much over the years they were all out pretty much
  14. getting the car going again and back on track has been slower than expected and wanted now its getting critical time to get it rolling so now there is a big rush = motorsport right The ABS in in and setup - g sensor shown - take a bit to tweek The new PWR rad and Plasmaman I/C installed - dyno testing and first time on the track and its proven both in power, efficiency and temp control to be a winning combo atm Kept popping silicone and been meaning to do it forever finally got around to putting proper clamps on piping no more boost leaks or splitting Got proper seat rails fabbed up this has made a massive difference to comfort and control in the car we did a complete from scratch over hall of the suspension setup all arms came out, adjusted to equal length, changes bolts, reset compression and droop etc - this has led to a higher ride height so have to get the splitter etc reset to a lower level this is being done now Along the way you might see now there is some new shiney and lighter parts on the car - more to come Given the time constraints of getting the car back on track I havent been able to get the head build to sit on top of the billet engine, really wish I couldve got it done, but alas. I'll spare you the massive back and forth dramas getting this dyno'd but It got done Finally got to the track and after more dramas got sorted from remote assistance and belted around for 2 sessions in traffic - no fast laps reallyand alot to get up to speed on very quickly so got to get as much seat time as I can asap but good to get out there That night went home and washed the car straight to spono car show night which is getting pretty big and awesome now. Car is mismatched atm - thats getting sorted very soon ........... end scene
  15. 💪 ducting looks good too what coils setup ?
  16. this is what I'll be doing - G35 - 1050 with 1.01 v band rear with rb27 and 35 psi would think be around mid/high 800 hubs still think
  17. Id say the hype is just the modern day promo spill you are seeing everywhere atm, 6 boost etc obviously dont need to pump themselves up these days i wouldnt think - the actual - I wanted to go V band to get away from warped mani flanges and had a heap of stuff coming form PRP and got asked if I wanted to run one of these. Accounts from a persons opinion, that I actually care about, they are said to be pretty good in terms of flow and boost management Good to know about intercooler only heard good things from a few over here that have made the change I initially was going with the 76mm then as engine things changed and future power goals accelerated changed to the thicker one Reverse rotation is just the packaging required for clearance on the artec mani - they are no different by all accounts accept for that - bit annoying tbh but hey im here now
  18. Yeah tis big 100% fine and drop in... i dont run a clutch fan though
  19. Literally just put one in havent run it yet. Track car though
  20. they do actually look pretty good to be honest and being cast no cracks - no that my 6boost ever did just warped flanges I am going to try my hardest to come over for WTAC yes - its a big time effort and $ for anyone anywhere being in Perth its even a little bit more so but hopefully
  21. got me a new thiccc boi plazmaman intercooler - been running a 500 x 300 x 76 PWR with 2.5" outlets to date its been great just never thought Id be pushing higher hp numbers around 600hp and IAT's getting up there especially in Perth where its always a million degrees. Also new engine I'll prob be pushing the hp numbers also so this should do the job still 500 x 300 but x 100 and 3" inlet / outlet - this will go on straight away Also accumulation of parts for the new engine - giving the new rb Artec manifold a go with Vband so no more warped flanges, better alternator and a coupla other little bits For new engine just need head finished and waiting on turbo as have to run a reverse rotation version Car itself now is close to being on track again - few cosmetic things being done atm , ABS is in Motec dash all setup lots and lots of little bits done from suspension settings and new suspension bolts to seating positions and all that stuff maybe 6ish week to go before on track testing again
  22. good it was picked up I went through 3 cast blocks recently to find the right one for spare lube 😆 you sure its for that ??!
  23. wallet out and get in touch with Perth Greg 😆
  24. 😄 get on it ! you've covered it I get told I dont post enough blaa blaa. im not really a 'poster' so came up with that but it is actually very nice bit of gear - and hopefully as close to bomb proof as possible without going 9 " billet spec
