FREAKS! First Tarmac Rally for Snowcone and their first rall as a team....huge accomplishment and good work on getting the car reliable and fast!
-
Yeh, they are getting way to clever with the reg changes and it looks very dodgy. It sounds like a class that Demtel are behind
-
I loved that car as well. So much better then your GTR I still remember you leaving the Cricketers Arm with a bit of gate off through the countryside. Such a nice car let me shoot up some pics
-
Well done Snowcone.... most of us would have binned it so outstanding work since your first rally was Targa.
-
Hang on ...300 at the treads and coil overs. So you are allowed a turbo upgrade (two of them) with ECU and exhaust with coil overs to go as fast as you are. But Tim in his GTSt isnt allowed a turbo upgrade and coil overs? You were also running better Federal tyres then what is on his car. I think i am just angry sitting over here behind a keyboard and not driving my car. I want to give Gareth the keys to my car to go and do some damage if the car is ready but im not. At least the car will be out there putting things to the test. He is the only bloke that could bin my car and still be able to make me laugh
-
I tend to agree, you slow velocity, you hurt low to mid torque as you affect cylinder filling. No doubt there are exceptions, but they are that, exceptions and more likely only the case when you habe 900hp of turbo hanging off a built motor with plenty of other suff going on in the head and inlet

I promise to shut up...or try to

I was running 1 bar from memory, so about 235rwkws. Could have been 19psi, i cant remember which sesssion or what boost. But being mid 23s and before the accident i suspect it was 15psi. Goes to show the difference in our lap times, 1:23 vs 1:19 is on the straights and not under brakes or the corners. I shoudl just go buy a Datto 1200 UTE Oh, and for him leavign me for dead on the straights i am sure some of it is the way it gets on power a bit sooner as he jumps me a bit on exit too while my sails are waiting for the wind to blow
-
I remember that Datto. It had nothing on me with regards to corner speed but damn it proves the point of power to weight. It hammered me once the thing spooled up. I did a low 1:23 when behind it from memory
-
Do you think you could get 300kgs out of it? As Dane said the answer is you would probably end up in a device like the Tartus and be able to go back in time. I think you could easily get 150kgs out of it. But 300kg. LOL a full stripped GTSt, but with all the safety gear and cage, brakes etc is still only about 90kgs lighter then my car As curious as you are to know how much quicker your car would be if lighter, can you imagine my curiosity as to how quick a GTSt would be if it had the usual good gear, it is already about 250-300kgs lighter Anyway, i have to get to work, enough posting here. I have some tuk tuks to race between goats and buffalos.

We need a common enemy otherwise we turn on each other. We need more GTR posters. And Hatred? LOL, jealousy on my behalf. You only have to look at that footage to see how much quicker your car is. I dont give a stuff if it has 4 or 6 driven wheels. Quick is quick, and i have a bit more work to do before i can look myself in the mirror...viva la 1:21s

All good and well, but i have typed enough BS...i seriously need help with storage space. Does anyone know of a safe, secure place i can store a car that i can access at anytime to do work. I am hoping to buy a car but have nowhere to store it as the apartment only has one parking spot ...and waits for GTR owners to return and point to the scoreboard edit... Fark me, just looked at those times Corssy posted. Mini Challenge Cooper S with Grant the Weather man i dont have a broken back right now does a 1:23.9. The R32 Golf time still stands from when i firt moved down from NSW with a time of 1:21.3 from the GT Performance caegory. With an AU Saloon Car doing a 1:24.9!. So there is a mix bag of cars there, and they are all Production cars with suspension and tyres with minimal power mods.

If you cant get into the 23s at Sandown then i dont think you are going to have the power to get sub 51s at PI. What is the best time at Winton? The weight of your car has to help you there as you would have to be 80-100kgs lighter then my car. I also suggest you sell the Racetech seat, put back in the Velo, engage brain, use your feet to run down the street and reach for said wallet and bin the HSD supension you have While you are at it sell the Garret and get a Greddy turbo. All things 2L go better with Greddy

Hey, not before me! I PM'd him regarding the cradle and waiting for a response? Bugger , i am now in a bidding war -
Didnt Adz bag a 1:26 or 25 in Juz's S15, thats pretty basic car. 180-190rwkws, jap coilover with exhaust, PFC and Intercooler with boost. I think it was running Yoki semis. The S15s are damn good things straight out of the box Ryan needs to get out of the sandbox and forget about carparks and DECA and do more track work OR just bite the bullet ad throw a dirty big turbo on it and boost his way to a better time
-
Yeh, just i want the guards, the engine, the wheels, the brakes etc. You can keep the front diff

Yeh Sandown is a couple of drag strips, but there is still a lot of time in driving the place. The fact that the straights are so long means it is mega important to get onto them well and carry all that speed down the straights. It also means you have to nail the sharp 90 deg bends and carry as much corner speed as you can. Then there is the back kink up to Dandy where again there is lots of time to be had...and panels to be damaged. Following the guys who have done more laps then me they smash me through there, i recall watching Matt in the R34 catch a lot of time on me there...i just have not got my head around how to get my car into and through that corner yet with the 30 or so laps i have done at the place. I think if you trivialise Sandown as just two drag strips you sell it well short of how challenging it is. At PI you get lost mid corner or corner entry then you have enough track and enough time to get it right and not compromise the exit, you just lose a bit of mid corner or entry speed. At PI a lot of it is hp as well as you are entering the straight at 180km/h so takes a lot of hp to punch a hole in the air. I am only 10km/h quicker down the straight at PI even though i enter the straight at about 100km/h quicker and the straight is down hilll and longer So, each track has its challengers, and PI helps the rwd guys rather then helping the underpowered guys as with the corner speeds being gso much higher, low speed traction out of corners isnt such a benefit. But you will still get left for dead out of Siberia up the hill through Hayshed if you dont have grunt. You will still get left for dead over 210km/h on the front straight if you dont have grunt. If you are rwd and dont have grunt then the best track has to be Winton. And speaking to Mick today, i think 18 July at Winton is perfect for me, as the panel and mechanical work will probably take another 8 or so weeks LOL, at Dutton i should have bagged a 36 if not for that F430. So with a few laps it would be great to try and bag a 36 or better

When my car grows up i want it to be just like yours

RB20 POWAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, every circus needs a clown But seriously, much the same reason as to why I started the Motorsport Track Times thread, it wasn’t to swing dicks etc, but was so that people could have a discussion on where they are at pace wise, what sort of pace is left in the thing and were free to throw a bit of thinking/speculation behind the disucussion. I use my lap time only because its what I know in detail. I can get a decent turn of speed from my car but I am not getting the most out of it. I argue the point of lap times as in 2004 people laughed at me when I said I expected sub 25s at Sandown because all the 330-350awks "GTR" guys were only doing those sort of lap times. If I had of listened to them then I would have parked the car and bought a GTR if I wanted to go any quicker then 1:30. Now that I have done three Sandowns I think my goal of 23s was shy of what I can do. I think I can strangle a 21 out of it. Still with a std RB20. Again, if I had of listened to people 2 years ago I would have needed an RB25/26/30 and 350rwkws to do that. AND they could be right…but its about working out when you are as quick as your car and when you practically need to spend money to go quicker. More importantly from that point where do I spend money to go quicker? Seeing Dean do a 1:22 on the weekend has pumped me back up … no way an SR20 powered Silvia is going to go quicker then me. The RB20 MUST rule the realm of rwd 2Ls
-
...and just a quick caveat. Spending money on your car isnt a sin. And saying that all the quick GTRs are worth a fortune is not a criticismn...and it doesnt dis-credit the silly turns of speed you get from them and the steering effort requried to get into the teens It just means you are women (not very good looking ones) because you dont drive rwd cars
-
Ken Oath! LOL, i dont think it will be easy because i am the guy driving it. But fark me the car should do it so its a challenge for me to get at least within 90% of what the car can do. I am hopeful, i just hope i am not delusional in thinking 21s are on the cards. I secretly hope that i can grab a high 1:20, something like a 1:20.8 will do it for me. Like Adz and his shopping list. Since the 1:23.1 i have gone a bit silly and turned what was a pretty cheap, basic modded car into something a bit more expensive so cant say its a budget banger any more...but it now has: - binned the old Bilsteins which it had for the 23.1 and now got the same suspension as all the GTR boys, - has about 20-30rwkws more - Has similar brakes, jut something a bit more repeatable and will give me more confidence. - canned the std cooling system and now have a setup that will allow me to do 4 laps at full revs, before i would only get 2 laps at full noise so often circulated at less revs etc for the first lap or two. - Slightly wider tyres - Fresh susp bushes etc so it doesnt feel like Crossy's Corona So considering i think i would have easly bagged a low 22 last time i was there if i didnt have the gearbox leak problem (=wall ) then ... lol. I liek sharing/discussing this stuff as i dont get to do it often enough, so talking about it is the next best fun And if i never even get in the 23s again, i dont care, its been fun trying and fiddling with it little by little year by year. I will add though i have not lost one of these bets yet:) I said sub 25 first time in the dry at Sandown, i said a 52 first full day at PI, lets just hope my crystal ball doesnt fog up on me We will have a real fight on our hands if i told you what times i am hoping for at PI And seriously, i need to know if anybody can help me out with a long term solution to storing a track car? I want an evil twin for my GTSt
-
I am being 1000% sincere. If i do a 1:18.7 or better in a GTSt running an RB motor you will give me 40k for it? Yes i am being 10000% sincere! I would make that bet, but i doubt anyone would wager it with me. Thats how confident i am. LOL, if i can find a garage which is secure, safe and accessible i may be at the next one or two Sandowns to put the theory to the test.... Do you want to offer up a keg and the money, as after its all said and done i want to be drunk enough to hang shit on people and say goodbye as i hand you the keys....or at least put up with the abuse i would have coming my way and cry that i now own two GTSts which are slower then most Vic GTRs Either way i win. I have a track only GTSt i have always wanted to own... OR .... i get to own it briefly, do a good lap time then sell it so.... I am being serious. I cant lose if this bet goes through. Question is do you want a GTSt quicker then your GTR My current car should hopefully be out of Micolour in the next 4-8 weeks, then off to Bens for some tweaking/tuning. So i will take my leave and be back for when the car is ready. I will gladly eat my hat if i cant at least go close to my 1:23.1 first time back out. The car should be a good second or two quicker then it was, only it will have been two years since i have driven it. No way my current car will do a 1:18 because it is only ever going to be powered by an internally std RB20 and be a full interior street car/club car. So the math, 260rwkws, 1300kg only adds up to a high 1:20 at the absolute best with me behind the wheel. But definitely a 1:21 something. But with 200kgs out of it and 320rwkws it would be interesting....and i am a gambling man! Come on Jack you have made a few posts about dedicated track cars, you have the truck, you dont need a trailer. I already have the colour picked out

I would say there would be very little in the AP vs OE Brembo to the average driver. But the APs would be better. I know a guy that did the install on his STI and commented that the APs felt so much better and the car was easier to stop at the track. So cant see why a Nissan would be any different. Be careful if you are running the AP CP4200, they are only meant for a 330mm rotor, but some places make up their own kits to run them with a 343mm rotor. So you end up with a similar situation with what you are doing with teh S14 caliper and 324mm rotor and running a rotor size the caliper is not intended for. I think you will also find that the CP4200 is only designed for a 30mm thick rotor, and just about all 343mm rotors are 32mm thick. So using a 30mm one might limit your access and lock you into a certain supplier for replacement rotors, whch may mean more then you shoudl pay Thats is of course assuming my memory is correct regarding the CP4200. There are of corse other 4 pot calipers in the AP range but none that have the same or similar price tag. If you want 343mm and 4 pot then you are best look at Brembo F40 or F50 or perhaps the CSC/B-Spec 4 pot kits from Melbourne
