  1. That's a centering ring; get it off & you'll be laughing. A bit of WD, and a thin screwdriver behind it.
  2. Look, you're never going to get a perfect result on black using touch up paint; that's just life unfortunately. I think your expectation and reality are fairly different, you may have to accept that if you want a flawless finish; basically wiping paint on to your car is not going to work. I also have a black car which someone rather generously keyed down to the undercoat; and it sticks out like dogs balls. I'm just going to repaint the entire panels. I'd rather not, but you are seeing the alternative.
  3. there are plastic ones; but metal ones aren't uncommon, generally alloy, probably corroded on.
  4. Yeah, not implying that you're an idiot or anything; just throwing it out there. Sometimes easy to miss the simple stuff.
  5. Are you sure? I'm pretty sure the hub centre bore on all Skylines is 66.1mm; My Stagea is, and 350Z rims go straight on to it. There are numerous R33's that I've seen with 350Z and V35 rims fitted; if centre bores needed changing I doubt anyone would bother. Can you measure both your current rim and the 350Z rim and see? There's definitely not a hub centering ring in the wheel, or on your car?
  6. Quite possible; I'm more wondering if they're implying that the coilover breaking caused the car to crash, or this is what they found after a car crashed & decided it was the cause; rather than an effect.
  7. Couldn't get the link to work; what's the context behind the broken strut?
  8. +1 for the inline filter. If the cooling system is filled with the correct coolant, and replaced regularly; there is no need to filter anything. Every joint you put in these hoses is just another potential point of failure.
  9. Some of them just slide in the end and wedge in.
  10. The easiest way to check it to put a pressure gauge in line and check for backpressure; your cat might even have a blanking plug in it that you could use.
  11. He's always publicly stated that he would much prefer to be in Australia, and that he spends as much time as he can. Perhaps now he has a family, and in the wake of Simoncelli's tragic death, he's decided to hang it up so he can enjoy life. Hell; he's still got all his fingers and toes, not many racers end up with a full complement. I'd be happy to see him in a V8SC; he's got a no bullshit approach, and I'm sure he'd adapt easily. He certainly wouldn't be the first rider to race cars.
  12. Yeah, agreed. I think it's taking the piss a bit to wait this long with nothing, then expect 33% upfront with no guarantee of the content, or quality. Their previous reputation certainly doesn't reassure me.
  13. Casey Stoner has just announced that he will be retiring at the end of the 2012 season.
  14. I made it. It's a copy of the Ox Motorsport lower front brace, but fabricated in Lightweight Chromoly tube with steel ends. I'm going to do an EOI thread tomorrow, but there definitely seems to be enough interest to start producing. Link; http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/400157-daleos-under-car-brace/
  15. I've also fitted one of my own Chromoly front chassis braces! The difference in handling is much more marked than I expected. The front of the car feels much more tied together than before; a bit like increasing the damping of the front shocks. Obviously the lower part of the chassis moves around a decent amount with the amount of grip these cars generate. I also have a set of R33 GTSt calipers which I'd like to see gone if anyone is interested.
  16. Picked up a bargain priced R34 GT-t 4 piston 310mm front brake set up today, so I'm finally going to get some decent brakes happening.
  17. I very much doubt that it would fit.
  18. I'd imagine they would be able to extend the mat if necessary; couldn't cost too much more.
  19. Thanks for the feedback there guys; there will be a formal thread in the next day or so, but the brace will come painted, and with all mounting hardware and will cost $160 delivered anywhere in Australia. I've manufactured a trial version of the brace that fits between the toe arms of the rear subframe; it's a massive pain to make, and I'm not convinced of the benefits to be honest. Also due to the amount of time involved; I'm, having a hard time manufacturing it for a price I consider fair. I'm manufacturing some tooling to bend this one more easily currently; so we'll see how it goes. The Strut brace has clearance issues when used with the plenum spacer, so I need to test how much room is actually available I will be looking to do a brace that picks up the rear subframe mounts, but that is a little way off ATM. Cheers, Dale.
  20. Did you find the boot carpet damped the noise in the back at all?
  21. I've heard that the rozzers have been walking up from the old GWH (behind the locked gate) below the straight section, and getting people with a handheld gun coming down to the left hander just before the final straight section. They then pull you up as you exit onto the GWH. As has been mentioned; it's now a 40 km/h zone & since it has been closed & reopened, I've noticed a lot more cyclists riding UP; which could get very ugly if a car was moving fast. I'll admit to going quite quickly down there in the past, but be aware there are a lot more cyclist than I've seen before.
  22. That aluminium bronze one would be better than a brass one anyway. $12 is damn good; the OEM one must be around that price!
  23. Get him to have a look/listen; give him the opportunity to make a judgement before going off. Sometimes things just go wrong; it's how you/he deal with it that makes the difference. He may offer to do the removal for inspection for cheap/free; if there's an issue with the parts or the workmanship he will hopefully be fair with you. If he goes ballistic when you broach the subject; you might be better off going elsewhere; but if he's any kind of a bloke; he should be approachable.
  24. The quality of those looks great Scotty; I'll definitely be giving them a call. Nice work mate.
  25. Only shows ETC2 in the spec code. Oh well.
