  1. ZOMGWTFBBQ!!!!! Stageas in a magazine you say? Awesome! Seriously, I've been waiting so long for this to see the light of day. Good on Nick for writing an article, and thanks to Matt for spending a day in the rain to take his photos, and also for submitting them to the mag. Big thanks to SAU & the whole community for getting behind the cruise, on a day that most people would've bailed & stayed home. I love you guys.
  2. Er, ok; Gratuitous stolen sample photo; Jack up and support car safely, or drive up on ramps. Wipe a small dab of grease on the bolt thread (this will help avoid galling the thread and ensuring removal at a later date is simple) and climb underneath your car. With the washer and nut on the top of the chassis bracket; loosely attach bolt on one side, then go to other side and loosely attach bolt. Push the brace up flush against the chassis bracket, and see if the bar touches the rolled edge of the bracket. If it touches; remove and bend the edge back with a pair of pliers or vice grips. It's not very thick, so you shouldn't have too much trouble. Grab an 8mm Allen key and a 17mm (I think) ring spanner and tighten the Nyloc nut on the thread. Don't be shy; you'll need 60-70ft/lb of torque. Go for a drive; listening for any rattles that might suggest you haven't done the bolts up properly. No rattles; go for a decent drive on some twisties. Grab the closest person and commence rabbiting on to them about how great your rigid, black bar is; and ask them if they'd like to experience all it has to offer. Check bolt tension after around 100km.
  3. May have changed with the later "P" series? Mine has an LSD (along with HICAS), but the LSD option doesn't appear on FAST.
  4. You know there's a United with E85 at the top Old Bathurst Rd in East Blaxland now? That's only 6 or 7km out of Penrith Surely the 'Riff will get one soon.
  5. You're referring to a wider version of the OEM intercooler scoop right? The cooler sits so close to the back of the reo I'm not sure how effective it would be. Wouldn't be difficult to make though. It would all depend on the positioning of any ancillary coolers that are fitted in that area.
  6. Even with the vents; you've still got an amount of core that's basically blocked, but the vents and some decent holes in the reo would help. Doesn't do much for the integrity of the Reo; nor it's legality though. With a smaller core; you'd have the opportunity to do as Scotty has done, and move the core forward, giving more room for trans/oil cooler cores & fans. You end up with very little spare real estate with the HDI core in place.
  7. Yep, I've actually seen people weld small air diverters into the end tanks; which direct air into the top & bottom of larger intercoolers. Doesn't increase pressure drop, and increases cooler efficiency as you are using the full area to cool; rather than just filling up unused core area with pressurised air which is basically static.
  8. Cam, if the dimensions are within the ballpark, we can always customse the custom. Slightly shorter or longer to suit mounting points would be possible, as long as the basic design is the same.
  9. It's obviously not a restriction to power either. A third of the HDI core sits right behind the bumper Reo; getting almost no airflow anyway.
  10. Will do, there's a few others, so I'm definitely going ahead. Put me down for the centre subframe brace! Seriously guys, get behind this; as I won't be manufacuring this particular one. The GB price on this one will be better than I can do; it's just too much work to do by hand, and still keep the price fair. Yep, I will be; hoping to get the car up on a hoist next week for a bit of measuring. Then I can put together a materials list, and start making a jig.
  11. I might be able to help with that.
  12. Cool, glad to hear. I know I said 2 weeks, last week, but it looks like being around 2 weeks. I don't kill them; they just don't seem to wake up.
  13. Holly, she's all good, and we've got a good story (now that it's over). Their attitude was what pissed me off so much; that's why I went after them. Glad to hear you have your car sorted; sometimes it's better to chalk one up to experience, and it sounds like you've gotten a great deal on your repairs. No point letting it drag on forever, when you have to look at your damaged pride & joy every day. Next time; run the little f**kers down.
  14. Kidnappers weekly? You're on my list... Fair dinkum; you murder one backpacker, and everyone rolls out the Milat jokes... Went for a walk in Belanglo with a young German girl the other day, "Gee it's scary out here at night" she says, I replied; "You think it's scary, I have to walk out by myself"... Back on topic; I'm with Leon though; you're at the right end of the car, wouldn't do any harm to get it back to them for a look.
  15. Once they've had a phone receiver cable tied between their teeth; things get much better. I do find it very hard to rid the load area of the all pervading stench of bullshit.
  16. Don't make this information public to backpackers; or my entertainment is over. Mind you once the cable ties are on; they aren't very dextrous.
  17. Most awkward was freshly painted Aero front & rear bars and side skirts. I've had a small fridge once and another time; an entire flatpack bedroom setting (including mattress) in there, includes kids loft bed, 2 bookcases and a desk. I refused to pay for delivery, and the furniture guy bet me a sixpack that it wouldn't fit all in one go. One sixpack of Crownies to me.
  18. No worries mate. I use Autoglym wash solution which isn't very foamy normally. I put about 30ml in the 300ml bottle and the rest hot water. This foams like a mofo, so a more sudsy wash solution will obviously be much foamier. Give a few different mixes a go, and see what you end up with.
  19. Thanks guys; glad you like the Braces! You don't really notice the flex until it's not there anymore.
  20. Same one, and cheaper too! If they have the one with the larger bottle; go for that one, if not, the little one will do.
  21. Yeah spot on, mine was all good this morning, and I'll check it again tonight. Mine is now steady at around 86 deg, when going slow or stopped; it might get to 89. Big difference to 88-94 deg running and a max of 104. We'll see what it's like when we get some hot weather, but the core was more than twice as thick, so it should be fine.
  22. Lol, he looks like he's punching out the fart in that pic. I just carry cable ties, garbage bags and a shovel. Oh, and a backpacker.
  23. Tez, they often come with a detergent spray attachment, but they're not really a foam lance per se. They just spray soapy water. I bought a Karcher foam lance from Bunnings for around $30. They do one with a larger bottle (600ml) but my 300ml one will do enough foam for a whole car, if you don't waste too much time. It doesn't have any mixture adjustment, but you just need to fill the bottle with the right mix of car wash solution and water. Also using hot water in the bottle helps activate the surfactants in the solution, and will give better foam. The higher priced ones don't foam any better than the one I bought, once I got the mix right.
  24. Lol, err, maybe it is then... Still no pinging either.
  25. Not really, but I used a little tube & a funnel to get a bit of extra head height to get the air out of the rear bleed point once I'd filled the cooling system. I waited for it to cool off again tonight, then topped up the rear bleed point and got a bit more air out (put about 250ml more water in). I'll check again tomorrow morning, but I think it will be ok.
