I will clarify point 2; The arrogant person I spoke to was NOT a Whiteline employee, he was an employee of a well known suspension specialist that I have recommended in the past. I have no issue with the shop in question, just this know it all. However, this is the showcase for your business, I would be VERY disappointed if someone I had entrusted with the reputation of my business behaved in the way this individual did. The problem is, I then tried to bypass this bonehead by communicating with the business directly, they decided my custom, and the concerns I outlined about my experience wasn't worth their effort. No worries, I get the message. Unless you own a common as muck car, that they can make a bucket of easy money out of; don't bother. My concern is for the guys that trusted me; on the understanding that I had made every possible effort to find the best possible product for the best possible price. I did, and I have. Then these guy waltz in and act all benevolent; "We'll do a deal for the person who helps us out" Naturally people are interested. Why didn't they want to help me? I don't want to seem like I'm taking the credit for the swaybars; I've always been upfront about who did all the hard work. Just wanted to share MY experience. I won't post anything further in this thread, as I feel Whiteline have had a fair ride on our coattails as it is, and I feel Todd from Signature Swaybars has earned our (definitely my) respect for being keen and willing to help enthusiasts by producing a quality product. He is the kind of person us enthusiast need. Hopefully, Whiteline will see my criticism not as an insult, but as a wake up call as to how ignoring a simple enquiry can turn a previous customer into someone elses best friend. What a missed opportunity...

Thanks wht510 for the physics lesson I was sure that was the case, but your explanation was awesome. Big brain FTW! I wonder if some of the misconception is down to the difference in DeltaV; due to the lack of crumple zones in a wall, versus the perceived relative "softness" of a car?

Whiteline, a few points; 1: Before I set up the group buy, I approached one of YOUR retail outlet points about the possibility of having Whiteline manufacture these sway bars, as I have used your products in the past. My reasoning was, that if we were to get together enough people, perhaps it could be made as a custom item, but in bulk. This way I thought, it would be worth Whiteline's time and if there was further demand, your company would be well placed to satisfy that demand. Someone's got to be the first car you do it for; Right? 2; I was mocked by the staff member of your retail outlet (who are effectively the face of your business) for requesting a product my car "didn't need" and that Whiteline "don't do custom orders" 3; I then took it upon myself to email Whiteline personally, to find out whether the arrogant retail outlet employee (note; Not the business owner) was misinformed. 4; I recieved NO reply from Whiteline, and therefore decided to go through another business who WAS interested in my custom, is a wealth of knowledge and has been energetic and helpful THROUGHOUT the entire transaction thus far. Frankly I find it a little rude, that now there is a chance to make a buck; after having completely ignored me, you post what is basically an advertisement for your product In this thread to take advantage of my and others hard work. If this is not the case I would be happy to discuss this issue OUTSIDE this thread. I would also appreciate it if others would stop giving a platform to this disappointing and apparrently calculated attempt to take work away from a business that was interested enough to step up, and actually SPEAK to me and provide a service I and others are looking for. That is all. Dale.

What Have You Done To Your Stagea Lately?

Isn't the stealth kit more expensive? Did they charge you the extra for it? If not, I'd be spraying it yourself. Just use a satin finish. -
+1 for BC's How are you finding yours with all the new bits mate?

Next time you park in a shopping centre carpark, try this for a fun game; Count the number of cars you see with visibly worn tyres. Not ones close to the treadwear markers, ones that are devoid of tread, either on the edges or the whole surface. Trust me, you will never want to drive on a wet road again once you see how many there are. People don't believe me when I tell them how bad it is, but once you start looking, it's hard to stop. Quote from the Western Advocate; "Ensuring your car doesn't have bald tyres has been found to critical when it comes to safe motoring. NRMA testing has discovered that driving on worn tyres is much more dangerous than the general population expected. It found a shoddy hold on the road could increase stopping distances by up to 21 metres in wet conditions. The real-time tyre testing that brought to light the alarming figures, is part of NRMA's Tyre Awareness Month, taking place this month. The NRMA also recently conducted a survey of 1100 motorists across NSW and the ACT, observing that age seems to be a defining factor in a persons tyre safety knowledge. More than two-thirds of drivers aged between 18 and 34 were unable to check tyre wear, a stark contrast against the 85 per cent of drivers over the age of 45 who were able to. Tyres and More in Bathurst, has urged its customers to take the necessary steps in maintaining tyre safety and to be particularly vigilant over summer. "Get your tyres checked regularly, and keep up to date with services," said Tyres and More Foreman, Ed Collins. "It's not reliable to check your tyres yourself as faults can be missed and expert advice is always best." NRMA roadside patrols will be offering free visual checks on call-outs and their car service centres will be providing tyre checks, both free during November. " Because it's so hard to tell if your car has bald tyres...

This Is The New Recipe Chat Thread...

I don't like the sound of this one little bit -
Matt, seriously I get it. I have sped I've been caught, and I've paid the fine; not happily, but as an adult I accept the repercussions of my actions. That doesn't mean the prevailing govenment wisdom is correct. Raising speed limits is only a small part of the puzzle, it needs to be teamed with better training and better roads. And some personal responsibility. Do we get any of this? NO! All we get is stupid slogans and more cameras, and more roads that have their speedlimits dropped by 20km/h for no reason. Fatz, If you ran into a stationary object and you were moving at 80km/h; that would be an 80km/h impact. If that object is moving towards you at 80km/h, and you are moving toward it at 80km/h, the relative speeds of BOTH objects must be added together. Therefore, the effective impact speed IS 160km/h. I left school in year 10, so no computer nerd here
-
So to paraphrase; what you're saying is, if you're both doing 80km/h, the effective closing speed is 160km/h. You will automatically survive this impact because you were doing the speed limit. Whereas a closing speed of 200 km/h (120km/h +80km/h) will result in automatic death. I put it to you, that you would die in both instances. And surely the issue in this instance is the "halfwit drunk idiot" on the wrong side of the road? If he wasn't on the wrong side of the road, the other driver could be doing 400km/h and NOTHING would happen. Instead we screw the speeding driver by making allowances for the drunk driver. THAT doesn't make any sense. But there's more money in penalising and villifying speeders than automatic 10 year jail terms for drunk drivers who cause accidents. When the "Hoon" confiscation laws were introduced there was a proposal to confiscate cars from habitual drink drivers. It was voted down . Much safer to leave cars in the hands of drunken idiots than in the hands of teenagers doing a skid at Macca's The points being made are; 1: That doing the speed limit is not a guarantee of safety as so many mindless drones believe. 2: Speeding does not automatically end in death. 3: Arbitrarily low speed limits do not necessarily make roads safer (research has shown that the opposite is often the case) The whole "don't speed, you won't get caught" argument is a cop out. If the speed limit was higher, would you still drive slowly? I very much doubt it, any non wowser understands that most of the roads we use can easily handle more speed, and the cars, most assuredly can. I'm not talking about suburban streets. 50 km is plenty fast enough for built up areas. I'm talking about arterial roads where there are multiple lanes and no stereotypical, pull at the heart strings "kiddies running after a ball", if children are playing near a multi lane road, there are other issues to deal with..

Is 7Mm Spacers Safe For V36 Rear Wheels?
Daleo replied to WeezzerR_1405's topic in V Series (V35, V36, V37 & Infiniti)
I would stay away from any spacer that isn't hubcentric, it's just too much load for the wheel studs. If you must use spacers, any decent machinist will be able to turn up a set for around $100- $120. Also, are they those stupid diecast multifit alloy things? If so, throw them far away, no good can come of it. When they fracture (and they will), you will break a bunch of wheel studs, and destroy a wheel/your car. Cheers, Dale -
What Have You Done To Your Stagea Lately?
Daleo replied to Hanso's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I had mine done 20%they're almost exactly the same as the back. If it didn't look so cool, it'd be a pain in the arse... I figure if I ever get pulled over I'm going with "it's all factory tint" If that doesn't fly, I'll just strip it , inspection, re tint. Mine only cost $100 for the pair. -
The whole Shannons "we only insure enthusiasts" thing is fine; you ARE an enthusiast. Tell them you love motorsport, you work on your own car,(servicing and mods) and others cars, 'cos you love it. Tell them you're on a forum with other like minded enthusiasts, this is what they're looking for. It's all true anyway. The only issue you may have is your age when dealing with Shannons, I think they only deal with over 30's.

Looking at the I.D. of your wheels Chris, I'm sure they would fit behind the 350GT 18's I bought from you. Maybe measure when you do the 1000km bolt check and I'll measure the 18's? The only thing I'd have doubts about is the caliper to wheel claerance, the calipers look very wide! BTW nice pics in the current AMB mag, best job ever?

Concave Driveway Fixed By Speed Hump?
Daleo replied to GTR-N1's topic in Exterior & Interior Styling
I think I understand what you're talking about Terry, and you might have hit on a fairly simple solution That is; it raises the nose just enough to get you past that low point, then once off the hump you no longer need the clearance. The proof will really be in a first hand trial, as the positioning will be critical. The other thing to watch, will be avoiding clouting the nose as you step down off the hump as the suspension compresses. Still, that's just a matter of going slowly. Using a steel plate works quite well, as long as the material is thick enough, (think chequerplate at least 1/2" thick) and braced underneath. The problem occurs if you have to extend the plate into the area where your garage door closes, which i'm assuming is why you're not looking at that? -

What Have You Done To Your Stagea Lately?
Daleo replied to Hanso's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Back to back tested with a non cotact thermal gun, my plenum skin temp dropped from 82deg to around 50odd deg after I fitted the spacer. It stops a huge amount of heatsoak from the engine, which has to add power, and the runner length increase definitely increases torque. -
You're copping it pretty hard at the moment. Is there much you can do about it, or is it a bit of a random thing?
