When I took the car to the tuner I had no problems with the car. The tuner said it will take him about a day to set everything up and test everything on the car before he tunes. He had to install my new injectors and setup the fuel pressure on the regulator, he asked me what fuel pump I had and I said a 040 and he said ok its all setup correctly to be run in on the dyno. When he was about to start the tune(I was not there at this time) he said the AFR looked strange at low RPM. He said it may be due to surging of the turbo at low RPM and that is nothing to worry about. After the tune was complete he said he is happy with the power it made at the set boost but said it can do with more boost. I took it home the next day and the pump failed. I did not know. He said the fuel pressure was good. The pump was priming. If the pump was failing he should have picked up on it. That is like saying one of my piston rings is worn and I didn't tell him. I payed him $800 to check my cars health and do a tune. He made me pay him to regap my plugs. He made me pay him to fix my PCV valve. He made me pay him to test my fuel. Its a f**king joke that anyone would think its my fault. How was I to know? I drove this car for 8 months without a single fuel related issue. The only real issue was my coils failing on me which I fixed my self. It was only after I told him the pump failed AFTER the tune that he did suspect the pump was failing during the tune. When you go to a mechanic to fix a problem on your car, its up to them to find the problem based on your input. I told him what the car had, that it was fine. He ran the car on the dyno and say the poor AFR. He could have told me that he suspected the pump is going or it felt lazy rather than continue tuning and take my money. Another guy on here had his car tuned, payed for it, took it home and it was running rich as shit. He then realized he had something unplugged(which he unplugged him self). He took it back to the tuner and the tuner fixed up the fuel map for free even though this was the car owners fault. I hope for my sake that this tuner will not take me for more money.

Sau:nsw 24Th July Megalong Valley Social Cruise
SargeRX8 replied to GTRsean's topic in Events Archive
What is a CAMS permit and does it affect me coming to this cruise? -
Well lets bump this up just for comparison purposes. I recently had a few things put on my car(see the rb25 dyno thread). I put this stuff on the car and it was about a month or two before I got it all tuned. Before the tune I pulled the plugs and oil and what not to ensure everything went in fresh. The plugs came out looking just like above, nice and normal. Anyway got the car back and the problems started. I put the exact same model plugs in, gapped appropriately. 2 of 6 failed after 300km. Look at them now. I just put a brand new set in there because of the misfires and shit that the car has been giving me. I have no doubt in my mind that this tune is pouring fuel into my engine... I'm going to take it back and I expect not to pay anything more to have it looked at because this is a joke. I'll be chewing through spark plugs everytime I go to fill up a tank of fuel by the looks of it. I'm not impressed at all really and I kind of feel sick to the stomach. I thought I made the right choice in tuner but clearly the tune shows otherwise. And to note, when the two plugs failed, I replaced them temporarily with the old plugs up in the OP. The picture you see if the old plug up in my original post, it was driven on for about 20km.

I think you can do this with most aftermarket/programmable ecu. You just need the hardware and software to do it.
-
Dont just jump into an ecu, get some mods first. Also the r34 is a gtt for the turbo counterpart. The gtst name was given to the 33 and 32 turbo models.

The amount of black shit which came out of the exhaust when I got it started was amazing. I was cleaning the car behind me, the gate, the fence and hosing the ground. They are BCP7RES. Ive always used these plugs in both my skylines. This is the second set I have used in this car. First set came out and read perfect. These ones here are black as shit. It only became hard to start after the tune... I hate it when people are telling me its not the tune when it was perfect before the tune on PFC...

Genuine Nissan Rb Coil Packs
SargeRX8 replied to RBceffy25's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
These are actually better than splitfires. The only reason people get splitfires is because they are meant to be cheaper than Nissan replacements(they are generally a fair penny from Nissan). If I did not have my yellow jackets, I would have taken a set of these. -
Is it worth investing in a wideband just to keep track of things my self? Can anyone explain why my plugs failed so quickly?
-
It was all dyno tuned, the low down afr are rich to lean, not only by reading my gauge, but the graph he showed me at the shop. He couldn't get a straight line and he doesn't know why. When we found out about the fuel pump, that could have caused many problems. It may have ran fine on tune day but maybe the pump was running at 60% and now with a fully operational pump, the fuel map may be unsuited...
-
The AFR gauge thing is just more for the looks than anything. It reads just above rich when giving it, around stoich rich when cruising and lean when off the throttle. I'm not using it as anything definitive but its doing what it should. Stock ECU won't be good if I put it back in as the injectors are Nismo injectors. Fuel pressure was the first thing I checked. The line was pressurised so it was a sign I had some pressure, took the line off the filter and put it in a bottle. Squirted out alot of petrol so that was working fine. Pin pointed the problem to cylinder 1 and cylinder 4. Changed all coils back to standard, no luck. Tested each line with one of my spare coils and a spark plug and was getting spark the whole way. My brother said I flooded the engine with fuel so we removed all the spark plugs and they were soaked and black like ive never seen before. The engine is rich as f**k. I dried off all the plugs and cleaned off the carbon and still had the same issue with 1 and 4 so I used two old plugs and the problem is now gone. Its quite a surprise to see these fail and only after 2000km of use... With my old ECU and power fc(pre tune) my old plugs were near perfect on removal(I made a thread about it). With the tuned power fc and only after about 500km after the tune, these are black as shit. This tune is definately richer than it should be. There are no mechanical issues. Think of it like this. You got a switch, on and off there is no inbetween. The day I came out of the tuner, problems started with the car not starting, fuel pump failing, spark plugs turning black and fouling. The car was driven on the new turbo for quite a while before it was tuned and everything was fine(I didn't fang it around). I got the GTR pump cheap and Ive got a brand new 040 here. Only reason I put the GTR pump in there was because the 040 was delayed in post by 4 days and I needed the car ASAP so I was able to source, fit and drive the car in one day after finding the pump. It was funny watching it prime. Was a fountain of fuel squirting everywhere. But yeah this was the first thing I tested. Little things like this I don't mind fixing, its just diagnosing which is a pain. Yeah, I got new coil packs, new fuel pump ready to go. The AFM I bought was from the US and very new. Anyway I have narrowed the problem down to the spark plugs, replaced them with some oldies for now and the problem which started today is now gone.

I just went to move the car into the drive way. Won't even start today. My luck with this car is amazing. It started and sounded like it was misfiring running on 3 - 4 cylinders. Now it wont start at all. I drove home last night from work, quietly, parked the car. Now it doesn't even start. I never had a single issue with this car until I put the pfc in and got it tuned. I even put my old coil packs in thinking my yellow jackets are ruined and no luck still won't start just turns over and pops every now and then. I am sick to death of having to fix shit on this car. AFR gauge was just one of those needles which moves up and down so nothing special or expensive.

I don't know why but my car is reading 56 knock on the PFC when it starts up as soon as it turns over. It happened after I got the car tuned and we suspected the faulty fuel pump could be causing the issue. Ive got a GTR fuel pump and it looked fine for about a week until it done it again yesterday. Does anyonje know if this is normal? Could this cause any damage? I ran this power FC in the car for a month or two on its previous tune and have never detected any knock at all(only one time of about 45 but not during startup). Also the car was tuned and payed for in full. Is it fair that I have to pay again for the tuner to tidy up the tune again and fix these little issues? If the fuel pump was failing, they should have told me and not taken my money (700+) and given me a messy tune... It makes the power, it doesn't knock much at all(apart from the 54 - 56 reading on startup and the odd 28 during driving which rarely happens) but startup the car is spluttering and shitting all over the place and because the pump was failing, low down rpm, cruising rpm, is too lean and too rich at the same time so I get my AFR gauge hitting rich, then dropping to lean, then rich and lean and so forth. I really don't feel like giving them more money to fix this as its not really fair on me. Can anyone here tidy up the tune? I'd be happy to give someone here some $. Its mainly startup which is of a concern and low cruising rpm. If I do fit on a higher pressure actuator later on I'm going to need a retune for the higher boost. Cheers

How much for cross drilled slotted dba rotors for r33 gtst? Don't need pads. Very keen on this.

K Sport Brake Review
SargeRX8 replied to Checkbuzz's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Hey man, looking at your pictures something struck me pretty quickly... The direction of the grooves is running the wrong way around... Did you fit the rotors correctly? Also to the OP, do you think what happened to you was just bad luck or is it something which could happen often and overlooked? I plan to get a set of these for my car but have no idea about what anything you wrote means... Are you basically saying the rotor did not sit flush? The thickness is not the same the whole way around? What is this run out stuff? -
Any One Up For National Park Tonight ? 8/7/11
SargeRX8 replied to johnny443's topic in Events Archive
Do this on Sunday night around akuna bay and Ill be in. Ive got work tonight. -
The actuator we got is too soft, even with my EBC set to 100% the most we could get out of it was peaking 11.5 - 12psi... The fuel pump was failing giving some iffy a/f ratios so the whole tune is alot richer than it should be just to keep things safe, Ive got the fuel pump sorted out, just need a 12 - 14psi actuator and Ill go back in for a tune touch up. Yeah, the pump was on its way out, it failed on the second day after I got the car home lean popping all over the place. Its got a GTR pump in there and Ive got a brand new 040 as backup incase. Also the actuator we're using atm is only a 7psi actuator and the most we could get from it was 11.5 with ebc @100% We shall see how it fairs up Keep in mind what Ive said about the tune and what not, in a month or so I should be running it at full potential.

How much would it cost you reckon to get rotors machined? The shop down the road gave me the typical bullshit about them being racing rotors being slotted n s#&t im just like ah f**k off flamin mongrel. He thinks it will break the teeth on his machine and it might cost alot more to do them. Gonna need to hunt a place down in Sydney. If I come I should be able to bring my mate who has a VW R32 and another with the VW GTI.

I'm not worried about falling asleep, I just wont want to get stuck behind some slow car the whole way. I remember the maq pass cruise was sweet going there, but on the way down being stuck behind a piece of s@$t rav 4 going 30km I didn't feel comfortable crossing to the other side. Its other drivers who make me sick of driving. I cant f**king stand driving around parramatta area anymore, so many disgusting drivers on the road who either drive too slow, too fast or just with their eyes closed. If my brakes rotors are replaced/sorted and my fading issues are gone, I will be there.
-
Yeah, I loved it but during the rains I kept getting water in my coils and what not so removed and sold it. I want one again lol.
-
The drive looks really long lol, I need an honest answer, do you guys suffer fatigue or get 'sick' of driving that long on these roads? Ill be keen on this one. Hopefully a full tank can make that trip and I can only attend if I fix my brakes...
-
If this was in the afternoon and it was white it could have been me on the way to work lol. My old car has been spotted a few times. I had an R35 GTR parked outside my place a couple weeks back for a footy game in the park. Ive got a photo of it, looks mint. If its someone on here, come past and take me for a drive lol.

Wow, that is amazing. Love the cars styling too. That red and the bonnet look mint. I miss my CF bonnet Come to Sydney and do my car or if anyone here can recommend any details in Sydney who will do a top notch job, please PM me. How much does this type of job usually cost?
