Not entirely true, I have seen cars with the CAS out by 1 tooth or so and they still start (obviously don't run well but still idled fine) Also I have seen (My car) range between 0 and 15 degrees timing at idle. Caused when the base idle is set way too high and the ecu pulls timing to bring it down.

do you still have the key on the inside of the exhaust cam? there can snap off and will let the cas go back on in any position.

My Cursed R32 Sedan
HR32GTS 4DOOR replied to HR32GTS 4DOOR's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Here is the best run of the day, after lunch so the VLSD had cooled down so I could actually get some traction up top. A 2way definitely one of the next things on the list. -
My Cursed R32 Sedan
HR32GTS 4DOOR replied to HR32GTS 4DOOR's topic in Members Cars, Project Overhauls & Restorations
Ok so its been a while since I have bothered to update this, but had the car out at Tailem Bend for the oz gymkhana come and try and today at Collengrove hillclimb. Managed a 39.87 on terrible Nexen N6000 (read treadwear 300 ) Since The last update, I poped the stock turbo at the gymkhana day and bought what someone was advertising as a stock turbo but took one look at it and knew it was highflowed. Turned out to be a hypergear 21U highflow. currently still on stock ECU and checked with knock headphones on road to make sure it was safe on the stock tune. Pulls harder up top but a little laggier on light throttle. Will be tuned soon once I figure out what I want to do with the fuel system. Hopefully make around 240rwkw Ill upload a vid of Collengrove soon if I remember -
R32 Gtr Hsd Coilovers, What Height?
HR32GTS 4DOOR replied to GarettH's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The problem with the HSD's is that you can't really get close to 340 front or rear, the highest I have gotten mine (Although a GTS-T, not sure if GTR coils have the same issue) is around 330 eye brow height. Although I have a bunch of adjustables to compensate -
These are good, have them on mine. Pretty cheep and ADR approved. http://www.gktech.com/index.php/r32-gts-t-gst-r33-gts-t-gtr-braided-brake-lines-front-rear-set.html

Does it make any noise when running, like a nock nock nock sound? To me It looks fine in those pics. My old RB20 did this, drop oil pressure to zero under sudden heavy breaking, then come back up straight away. Although it eventually developed a nock.

Items: RB20 Gearbox Extra Info: Good condition Contact Details: PM Price and price conditions: Around the 300-350

High Idle And Next To No Vacuum Built Rb25Det
HR32GTS 4DOOR replied to skygtsnt's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Cam timing is probably out, can cause it to pull hardly any vacuum. I put my money on that -
25Det Oem Turbo In A 30Det Dohc.
HR32GTS 4DOOR replied to texman30det's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Won't make much cause the turbo will be choking it, around 180-200rwkw. My mate has a RB20 turbo on his twin cam 30, makes max torque at 2000 rpm but has nothing after 4k -
R32 Rb20 Gear Box
HR32GTS 4DOOR replied to Ethanr32's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
It's a gearbox input shaft bearing, had exact same problem. I just whacked another 20 box in, or could get it rebuilt. -
Do you know if your car is wired with a 20 or 25 loom? mines an r32 with a 25 and 20 loom, ill have a look tomorrow if the plug is connected to the coilpack loom, but i don't think it is.
-
Yeah as above you can't actually see the bolts holding it in, just gotta feel around top and bottom of the valve and you will find them.

Wanted To buy. R32 GTS/GTS-T Nose cut. Preferably Just from in front of the strut towers. Must be in good condition as I need the rad support and Passenger wheel tub.
-
Vanquish is a fair whack heavier than the Porches. Its kind of a hollow victory for the GTR though since they took out the MP4-12C, Though I suppose it is only for new cars.

Nah It doesn't, It would be easier with it off, but then you have to take the plenum off which is a pain.

Wide Band Installation Help
HR32GTS 4DOOR replied to Missileman's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Run the actual sensor through the hole from the inside of the car, surely the sensor will fit through. MIne does. If you want to use the same grommet just put a clean cut through the side of it fro the wires and when it goes back on the car it will close up nice. -
Wide Band Installation Help
HR32GTS 4DOOR replied to Missileman's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
There is a grommet for the cat temp sensor wiring under the car, Just run it through that. Goes in under the passenger seat. -
Pulled my NA exhaust and cat off to put a 3" system on after the turbo conversion. The cat looked stock to me, but turned out to be a 3" one.
-
May have a blocked cat. Mine hunted at idle with a blocked cat. Also explains the lack of power.
