Wow - just read the whole thread on that so called 2500R prototype. I get it is a real car, but it didn't actually go back to Nismo for anything did it ? What a really, really shit thread to read... so confusing and contradictory on the claims made.
-
So was this so called 2500R actually a thing ? As in did this car infact come from Omori ?
-
Yeah, if you have a WRX... 75w-140 if you give a shit about your diff. As Duncan said I think we've gone into detail about this more than once

My R33 GTST Bare Shell Build Up

It gets better with every post👌..... -
You are absolutely correct - keys are for timing alignment only and tension is provided by the bolt. Admittedly some tighter tolerances I guess help with stuff not flopping around as much. The Ross stuff definitely is tighter, as the lower timing gear and balancers do not go on just by hand like the factory stuff.

My R33 GTST Bare Shell Build Up

You're off your head mate.... -
Yep I do. I use one of my old RB starter motors that's been cut in half and welded locked, so I bolt that in place and get to 460 - 470nm torque quite easily with the 3/4" tension wrench. Doesn't move a mm when doing it in car. How's everyone else locking their flywheels ?
-
Absolutely the correct RB26 tension at 450nm+ on the bolt makes the soft timing gear and washers / shield problem more pronounced, but at the end of the day the RBs all use the same lower timing gear arrangement. On the white 32 RB26 we are doing the same setup right now after the blue car had this happen.
-
No not correct at all regarding the shields. I suggest to go and have a talk to the guys at Ross as I have spoke at lengths with them over months about it. Sorry mate but the the factory washers and soft timing gear are THE biggest problem over the damper, It only takes a very small amount of compression on these back items and then no matter what damper you have it will work its way loose. The shields compress way before the any damper will as they are soft as shit, and is why they are listed as a not to be reused on disassembly item in the factory manual because they compress. Even with balancer having an interference fit what do you think happens if the gear section and shields compress ? - the bolt comes loose. This is why Ross developed these only in the last 2 or so years as no one else picked up on it. I personally destroyed a Ross damper keyway and bonding material on a 1000km old Ross balancer last year with a brand new factory RB26 bolt tensioned to around 470nm at over 800hp. They replaced it under warranty luckily and now the entire assembly does not have one factory component bolted to the crankshaft.
-
Which is essentially just buying another turbo without exhaust housing, referred to as a "super core".
-
Throw HKS ecu in the bin and fit proper engine management.
-
The timing gear shield washers are actually more of the culprit on all RBs - they compress and the whole assembly eventually comes loose no matter how much you tighten. Ross have the best solution for this with the shields either side of the gear machined with a large step into them to increase the thickness of the loaded area which fits into the gear itself. They are also made out of a lot harder steel.

I think you're about to get a lot of likes 😄

Precision 6870 time possibly ?
-
This is why everyone who has one of these hardly driven cars should have a ctek mxs 5.0 I have 4 of them - only thing I'll trust to keep on charge for months on end.
-
Still running the PAR straight cut dog box. Car is extremely impressive with the 6466. I'm in Perth at the moment so I'm not near the car for the tune. Just bought another car and am seeing my work branch in WA. I'm definitely going to leave the NT and Alice soon - short list is now Perth or Bunbury in WA, but Adelaide is now possibly on the cards.
-
Great result mate from a 6262 frame. If you can rebuild / modify Precisions I'll definitely keep that in mind 👍

Yeah 611kw gen2 6466 1.0 a/r results from Morpowa's Mainline Prohub dyno, printout posted in the other build thead and 26 results thread. I know Precision power ratings are to be taken with a grain of salt, with the gen2 6466 is indicated at being 900hp rated. The 6266 gen1 vs gen2 power ratings are 735 vs 800hp so really sort of approximating estimates. -

After ripping off the HKS turbo on my 2.8 blue 32 and going with the 6466 I was astounded by the overall improvement everywhere in the power curve and peak power. Considering that 6466 on my 2.8 is over 450kw at 22psi on 98ron and over 600kw at 32psi on E85, I would expect the 6266 on the 2.6 to be maybe 400kw on 98ron and 500kw on E85 at similar boost levels. Sound around the ballpark ? -
Correct. BP ultimate for example is 98 ron, 86 Mon = 92aki.
-
VP race fuel like VP 109 ron unleaded is a waste of money compared to E85. Just go flex fuel setup so you can run on pump unleaded or E85 all without draining tanks or switching tunes. You go VP race fuel you will have to change tune when using it, then change back to a pump unleaded tune. VP109 for example will support about the same boost and timing increaes as E85, but it requires the afr's to be a lot leaner than E85 but richer than pump unleaded.

Yeah man full steam ahead now. Give me 2 months and should be re-regoed and back on the road 👍 I for one can't wait to see the 6266 real world. People talk a lot of shit on here but I truly am impressed by the Precisions overall. -

Finally getting some traction on the white 32. Mountain of parts, and Amayama finally delivered after about 18 weeks. Chopped the varex control crap out of the muffler Replaced Trust 13 row oil cooler and flushed lines after engine failure Modified front pipe to suit new Precision turbo New Precision turbo gen1 ball bearing 6266 with divided T4 0.84 a/r. Old T78 is in there somewhere Long engine starting to go back together with the CP pistons and Spool I beam rods. Head is stock apart from ARP2000 head studs, Tomei 1.2mm head gasket and Supertech single valve springs. Bottom end got the ARP main studs on a factory 26 crank. Still waiting for the Hi Octane sump to come back and then engine can go in. To top it off also getting rid of the NPC single and have a new ATS twin plate carbon to go in. Hopefully running by July.
