  1. Absolutely mate I know that and totally agree. Who in their right mind would bother doing a single conversion to get max 350 kw on an RB26 ? That would be like a baby Precision 5558 or so and don't even know what that would be in EFR. The point I was trying to make is you can pretty much have a single that roughly comes in the same time as small twins but a LOT harder, as well as being able to deliver double plus the power. The singles were in no way laggier, but delivered the power in a much more aggressive way on the road. Cake and eat it too results I think when it comes to singles. The two white cars are both 2.6, running the same 20psi boost and spool from vac to boost was similar - but even on low boost with the 6466 the power delivery is much more savage compared to the twin hks gt-ss / -9's translating to a car that was much more of a handful.
  2. Defintely hectic, but heaps of fun Regarding the twin vs single debate it was a good back to back to compare pro and cons of each. The biggest issue with the singles is they have soooo much power, which upsets chassis balance in something like a Motorkhana with such tight conering. When the twins come on the power is delivered in a much more manageable way. In any other situation the singles are the far superior choice as the throttle response and spool up is great, matching or exceeding what the twins were capable of but with much more power being harder to control for mere mortals like myself. In my opinion, only power levels of 350kw or lower should twins ever be considered as an option, as the singles from here on do everything better.
  3. So with the racing done and no major issues or failures, time to start fine tuning things. A big shout out to Paul @Piggaz and Brett @r32-25tfor helping me out with a couple of parts to get this car on the road and racing in time 👍 After discovering the timing issue with the existing crank angle sensor retarding the whole map by about 15 degrees the 6466 on the 2.6 kicks arse. 6466 T4 1.00 a/r is not too big for a stock cammed 2.6 litre with 8.5:1 CR. Actually, I'd go so far as to say this is the smallest single turbo I'd recommend for an upgrade path on an RB26 and will definitely be sticking with Precision turbos as they just perform so damn good. Other things I liked about the car was the stock rebuilt gearbox is smooth, the ATS twin carbon clutch is excellent, unknown rear diff centre performs well (only part of the car we haven't touched so far) and the HKS Hipermax III coilovers are actually really, really good. So the next things to obtain and fit to improve the car will be: -NZ cam trigger kit. Crank angle sensors are so shit and unreliable, but won't be doing a full crank trigger at this stage. -Adjustable rear upper control arms. Need to dial out some camber as we all know. -Frenchys interior clock fix. I can't handle things in the interior not working. -Strip off the bubbling rear window tint without stuffing up the rear window demister. When have some cash to splash on this car the Splitfires will make way for R35 coilpacks, 1000cc Denso injectors to be swapped with Bosch 1650cc's, PWR or Plazmaman intercooler upgrade and piss off the Xforce Varex muffler for a decent unrestricted AES one. Until then I'll continue to road tune before heading back to Morpowa next year to flex fuel tune it and send it on E85. 4. Ok RCN 08 is done for 2022, so I'll debrief here. The R33 GTR above won top Japanese car for the event in the elite show n shine component. The car is immaculate inside and out really for a 27 year old car with a genuine 81500km, hence the retirement from ever returning to a drag strip. The racing for the weekend didn't quite work out as planned. The two 32 both ended up having issues at the strip on Saturday. White 32 shit a CAS restricting timing to a max of 5 advance, so as you could imagine it knocked the shit out of producing any power. I checked this after it's first and only run after it clocked a laughable 105mph 😆 Cue the blue 32. After a previous shakedown of 139mph, I put it back on E85 and was reading consistently over 70% ethanol content, so I decided to send it. I re-enabled launch control at 6500rpm and full boost at 32 - 33psi. Launched of the line at a not so great but ok 60ft of 1.82 and proceeded to smash through the gears until I lost power at top of 3rd when changing into 4th. Sensing something was wrong I backed out of the run at about 3/4 track and coasted through at 11.51 at 128mph. On further inspection let's just say something stopped the blue 32 from continuing on that day, meaning an early retirement from the strip on Saturday so we could try and rectify the cars for the Motorkhana event on Sunday. After "fixing" the blue 32, swapping the crank angle sensor out on the white 32 and picking up the 33 we headed out to the Motorkhana with all 3 cars ready to race. The Motorkhana event on Sunday was bloody awesome with all 3 GTRs performing flawlessly with no problems unlike at the drags. My impression from the Sunday event: -White 32 handles awesome and has a heap of power. The 6466 1.00 a/r is not too big for the 2.6 and was definitely very very responsive and great on / off throttle response. Amazing what the correct and accurate timing did for the car. -White 33 performed as expected - It grips, turns, stops and has a great balanced power delivery. Nothing new there. -Blue 32 🥰 What can I say.... Only thing to say is HOLY F**KEN SHIT !!!!! This car initially scared that shit of me out there as the power was frigging insane ! This was the car I drove the most on the day as it was just so much fun - I've never driven a car with this much power in an environment like this 👍After getting used to the 600kw + with the imposing concrete and water wall barriers, the car was awesome in its handling, traction and mind numbing power delivery - very confidence inspiring 😃 So in a wrap, the fastest GTR out of the 3 at the event was..... THE 33 WITH THE TWINS ! After winning the 2020 and 2021 event I couldn't make it 3 years in a row, by a tenth, securing 2nd place overall from just one try in the 33. The 32s with the single 6466 turbos were just too aggressive with too much power on this type of track, but were way more fun to drive ! TBH I think the blue 32 COULD be the fastest with more skill and practice behind the wheel, but really just showed that the 33 was just a much easier car to drive fast on the limit. Overall a pretty successful outing considering there were no major failures during the event. First time for everything eh ? 🤣 Until next time 👍
  5. They are good turbos, but you're not hitting 500hp at the wheels on these unless you're on E85. Even then they will be out of puff with no more left at 1.5 - 1.6bar. 400 - 450hp is it on unleaded on 1.3 - 1.4bar.
  6. Hi there. It seems one side was discontinued a month or so after I got them. Keep your eye out though as they do pop up at shops occasionally. I saw a new pair at Vega motorsports advertised. Failing that Yahoo Japan auctions will probably be the last option, as nearly anything you can think of discontinued is still generally being sold.
  7. All of the above - built to be an all rounder. Transmission is an H pattern dog box. Read my eternal money pit build thread for full specs on first page Don't overthink the diffs, buy the Quaife - nice on the street, excellent grip, turn in is great and locks hard when it has to.
  8. I use Quaife front and rear on the 600kw+ 32. Wouldn't use anything else after swapping to these as they are brilliant
  9. Got the 33 into the Elite show hall so it will be on display until Motorkhana Sunday racing. Drag racing with the two 32s Saturday.
  10. Still want - especially rear tool access trim cover 👃
  11. Final car through scrutineering for the weekend. I'll switch back to E85 tomorrow after I put a couple hundred k on 98 through it.
  12. Changed the 32 wheels out for my old 33 GTR rims with fresh Hankook RS4 and put some VP MS109 in the tank instead of E85 for the weekend.
  13. R33 accepted into Elite show hall for display before Motorkhana, which will be going for its 3rd win racing. Going to ditch the drags in this car. It does 11.5 at 120mph so I'm done with risking any further drag racing related stone chips, as ASID track is very gravelly. Top fuel cars are going to hate it.
  14. Nothing - just too many cars, so basically just being useless. I came on time at my slot, then they just said nope. They can't get through 1000 checked in cars in 3 days apparently... Just jumping in the 33 now to try and get through as quick as possible. If I get any shit I'm not going to take any shit - they are the unorganised and incompetent ones. And yes it's raining, the joy.
  15. Worked all day today getting the cars ready just to get turned away from scrutineering tonight at our allocated slot at 19:30 for the white 32 and 33. Grrr, now we have to get all 3 cars done tomorrow which will probably take all day, and it's supposed to be raining... Anyway here's probably the first time all 3 GTRs have been in the same location at the same time ever.
  16. 👍 Car was flawless. Dad drove it down to Stuarts well with me following in the Hilux just in case, we swapped on the way back... Being in the NT with out very loose 130kph speed limit I tested it out a bit. All sensors functioning normally - no leaks or smoke, fuel system PWM works great, max 82 coolant, 39 fuel temp at 65% pump speed duty, intake temps at 26, about 48psi fuel and 60psi oil pressure at 3500rpm at 130kph, oil temp 80 at up to 200kph on Penrite 15w-40 run in mineral oil. Pulls about 0.5psi boost at 3500rpm on 130kph cruising speed using about 430cc - 450cc per minute of 98. It feels great at 130 - 150kph overtaking speeds and is completely effortless, even passing a cop or two with a wave 👋 WRX and GTR group hug afterwards
  17. Nah not factory, I mentioned earlier the car was originally KH2 gunmetal grey and looks to have been changed to 326 Crystal white in Japan. I'm glad, I hate KH2. I think the KH2 grey is a terribly cheap looking colour - we had it on a previous R32 GTR I owned. We resprayed it again early last year when the side sills were being replaced. Going for a drive now for a couple of hundred k to just check everything.
  18. Yeah this car has had pretty epic amount of work done restoration and modification wise over the past 3 years. Still has nothing on the work or money spent on the other 32, but that has been over a far longer period of time. Power wise it will be something similar to this car as its now the same turbo but will still be a bit less given the long engine is not as extreme - I expect probably 80 - 90%
  19. For the Slayer fans - bloody brilliant ! Love this song 🤘
  20. Exactly what I was thinking. 👍 Throttle control is everything and the car only goes as fast as your right foot right ? Ok the cars will be set on: Blue 32 - 6466, E85, 33psi, 265/35R18 RS4 White 33 - twin GT-SS, 98, 21psi, 265/35R18 AD08R White 32 - 6466, 98, 15 - 20psi, 245/45R17 RS4 I've got a feeling the AD08R will come out on top and make all the difference.
  21. Yep same with the gearbox. Kudos actually sell a complete bellhousing kit which also went onto this car. Yes I see the Amayama packaging. Careful with their supposed UD "equivalent", as I have got some that were not even close to what they were supposed to be. Also just picked up some BP ultimate to give it a bit of a flush tomorrow for a couple of hundred k before I switch back to racefuels control E85 for next weekend. I'll be on E85 same tune for the drags and motorkhana, so I guess the question for motorkhana is do I run the full tilt E85 33psi 611kw or knock it back to 22psi ? 21psi on 98 with the 33 is a handful with 330kw on the twistes so I can only imagine what 600kw + will be like. 😆
  22. Yeah all gears are becoming expensive. I wouldn't let a set of crown wheel and pinion go for less than $1k now.
  23. Replaced both door window glasses, inner and outer door windows trims, door seals on the body and lower door seals as they were all stuffed. Installed new 4 x 6" front speakers and speaker holders while I was there too.
  24. Car is out of the blocks ! New plates and re-regoed. New 6466 turbo on, 15psi on 98 and 15w-40 Penrite run in oil. After 100km first impressions: -Twin ATS carbon is unreal and even more progressive than our triples. Absolutely shits on the NPC ceramic that was in it in every way. -Motor is very quiet surprisingly and unassuming. Drives great off boost for a 2.6. Gearbox refresh also feels great and stock rear diff locks hard. -6466 on 2.6 with T4 divided 1.00 a/r feels lazy compared to the 2.8 with big cams. Only running 15psi though, cam gears set to 0 and bugger all timing on 98. So far a bit of an unfair comparison to the blue car as I think the 6466 really needs a fair bit of boost and timing to really wake it up - my base is 22psi on the 2.8 on 98, 32psi on E85 on the other car. I'll call it a win so far at this point. More to come - I guess so far, so good.
