  1. Hey Rob. Yeah I didn't even fit the new lines that come with them, still have them here as I though the ones on the car were already good enough. I didn't even unravel them to check the lengths but it seemed like a fair bit, but I'd assume they'd be to replace the whole lot be wouldn't they ? From memory the tubing that came with them is a smaller diameter than standard too. So you're saying they didn't include enough tube to replace it all ? On another completely unrelated note on the state of these shitty times I'm getting pretty twitchy with this whole Covid-19 lockdown shit around the country. 3 cases recorded in Adelaide today could ruin getting these cars tuned. I'm currently holding my breath and have my fingers, toes, legs and dick crossed NT doesn't shut the border to SA this week !
  2. The race continues to be ready for tuning, putting the car back together. Here is a bit of a look at the brand new replacement outer sills that have been replaced on both sides. Just about to put the freshly painted sideskirts on after fitting new front inner guardliners and new series 2 rear mudguards - I have a mountain of genuine Nissan clips and bolts for the jobs ahead. Doors were also removed as part of the paint job and realigned. With new strikers they shut perfectly now, as they were shocking before. As you can see I'm a bit shit at taking photos though
  3. Yes I was born in Shepparton. My whole family is from there, so yes secretly I'm really a Victorian - Shhh !
  4. Which ones can't you find or want ? If they're not in Nismo, it means they could still be available as a Nissan part possibly, as the Attesa rear hoses are like that - 3 are Nismo parts and 1 is still a Nissan part just to confuse things more.
  5. 2 weeks until the big trip to Adelaide for tuning, I'm trying to get stuff done flatout and running around like a headless chook. I've run into 2 obstacles while rewiring and resizing my fuel pump feed through the car 😄
  6. Yeah us ex Shep boys going hard now ! Old man was like fk it, give me your old R33 GTR wheels so it'll hook up.... Came back with fresh Hankook RS4 !
  7. Been awhile since an update on this one. So after what seems to be an eternity of 14 - 15 weeks, it's back home from the panel shop. Just picked it up tonight- I have until the end of the month to put everything back together. This car is also now booked in for tuning at Morpowa on the 3rd of August !
  8. I actually did try to give Anthony Cece a call to potentially give him a go with the cars, as he does seem to know his stuff and has a 4WD Mainline Prohub dyno. Couldn't get onto him and then found out he's basically uncontactable, burnt out and not taking on any new work for the rest of the year. Not to worry, Simon from Morpowa called me today and we nutted a few things out as his Mainline 4WD roller dyno and Prohub dyno arrived yesterday. Car is booked in for tuning on the 3rd of August. To say I'm relieved this is now confirmed is an understatement ⚡
  9. Nismo direct pictures generally have seemed correct but forget the pictures. Find what you need through NIssan fast and then find Nismo heritage replacement part number.
  10. No, all the brake lines are available from Nismo for front and rear and the abs and non abs pipes are not the same part numbers. We replaced both the ABS fronts from ABS pump on the white 32 recently as someone had made some pretty average replacements. For example front left ABS ones are 46242-RHR21 (old part 46242-04U00) and non abs for left is 46242-RHR20 (old part 46242-01U10).
  11. Not for the stuff he wants to do, so I take it CeCe must do most of the Jap stuff he doesn't want to do ? His bread and butter is diesel tunes and most performance stuff he tunes onsite is LS engines. His current dyno is a dyno dynamics 2WD roller, which is being pissed off to make way for a new Mainline 4WD roller and a new $70k+ Mainline Prohub. His Prohub was sent out on Wednesday from Mainline and they're in the middle of building a new dyno room for it. He doesn't do much JDM anymore except for a few specific customers as he can't handle the flatcap wearing, shitbox owning, cheap arse expects the world for nothing attitude of a lot of Jap performance car owners. Can't blame him really, I can't stand a lot of the performance Jap car owners myself, but a few GTRs are still going through there like Denzos R34 and some R35 owners. He is even the one tuning Keir Wilson's R35 from Willalls, which is interesting indeed if you know what I mean.
  12. Yeah it's cheaper because you don't need the $250 - $300 coilpack loom on R34
  13. Yep the were the first ones I seen selling them. I have the Godzilla motorsport kit on my blue 32 with the genuine unmodified Nissan coilpacks as I wanted the genuine coils. Full kit was about $1200 from memory for coilpacks, billet bracket and wiring harness.
  14. Its not hard, you buy from reputable resellers in Australia like Golebys, Just Jap or Kudos Motorsport. You could even order the coils direct from Nissan if really really worried and purchase the mounting / wiring separately. The coils aren't the expensive part, it's only about half the price of the kits as the billet brackets and wiring harness make up the other half.
  15. That's the thing that complicates it even more, as the updates don't seem to correspond with the series change. For example, the update definitely occurred on the R33 GTR on the 12/1997 according to Nissan, but the R33 GTR series 3 came out on 02/1997 - meaning there are lots of R33 series 3 GTR without the update. For the ECR33 GTS25T Skylines I can't say I've ever seen one with the synchro update. I've worked on less RWD boxes than GTR boxes to be able to compare but I will say all the R33 turbo boxes I've seen inside have had the spring steel 3rd / 4th insert. Nissan fast doesn't seem to indicate that the ECR33 RB25 turbo box ever had the update, and indicates that it happened on the R34 GTT from 05/1998, so I would say probably not.
  16. Yes, not a problem. The dwell time for standard RB coilpacks is lower (shorter charge time) than what the R35 coilpack saturation point is. This just means if you leave it at stock dwell you're not getting the full energy potential from the R35 coilpack. Even so, the R35 coils at stock RB dwell times still massively outperform the stock or Splitfire RB coilpacks anyway. Just get them and whack 'em in, money well spent 👍
  17. Yeah ok. I also have handy the complete parts list to convert from early to late, which is needed for synchro gearset upgrades like OS giken, PPG, PAR etc. or just turning your old box into a updated series 3 box.
  18. Maybe. I dunno mate but I thought I'd shed some more light on this for any future references, and try to cut through the bullshit. I will be even more clear this time.... 1st / 2nd gear shift insert: In all the RB 5 speed gearboxes there is a solid type shifter insert on the 1st / 2nd synchro hub arrangement. There is 3 of them and they are a solid key design, which acts against 2 circular springs - one each side of these solid keys. This is the design on the 1st / 2nd synchro arrangement and never changed on any 5 speed Skyline R32 - R34 from 1989 - 2001 or R32 / R33 GTR box from 1989 - 1998. It looks like this and is the original part number 32609-30P00. 32609-23P00 is the new R33 alternative part number but still same thing. Both very much still available. Original 3rd / 4th shift insert (most common): Now the 3rd / 4th gear synchro hub arrangement used a different setup that did not use 3 solid shift inserts acting on opposing springs as mentioned above on the 1st / 2nd arrangement. Instead it used 3 spring steel inserts. As they are spring steel they provide the spring tension, and is a bit of a shit design as they are prone to losing their "springiness", fatiguing and breaking. Why Nissan decided on this design compared to the 1st / 2nd gear arrangement is beyond me, but it is the most common 3rd / 4th synchro setup and is all the 32 / 33 GTR / GTS boxes until 1997 when the series 3, 5 speed GTR revision took place. Again, it looks like this and is also still available - part number 32609-70L20. Revised 3rd / 4th shift insert: Now obviously Nissan finally decided that the above 3rd / 4th gear shift insert design was infact very shit and changed it. It was revised to be like the design of the 1st / 2nd gear arrangement, in that it went away from the spring steel clip type insert and went to 3 solid key insert with 2 opposing springs - the way it should've been in the first place. This is what is found in the R34 GTT and 97/98 R33 GTR 5 speed transmissions. The bad thing from an upgrade point of view is that everything relating to 3rd and 4th gear was also changed like the selector fork and synchro hub coupling, etc. Part number 32609-70L15, superseded by 32609-AA510 and both very much still available. Looks the same to the original 1st / 2nd insert doesn't it ? - it's not. Now if only you've got a keen eye you'll see the raised hump section is different. On the 1st / 2nd one it is substantially shorter in the middle than the much larger / longer revised 3rd / 4th insert. The overhead shots show the clear difference in the raised edge. Again, compare: 1st / 2nd insert Revised 3rd / 4th insert Now look at the opening dyl33 pics which has the much shorter raised centre section: Hence why I said originally from the 1st / 2nd assembly, as most Skyline boxes out there will still be running the spring clip 3rd / 4th inserts unless you a have an R34 GTT, 97/98 series 3 R33 GTR, a recently brand new complete 5 speed transmission or done a gearset upgrade as they all use the new 3rd / 4th synchro design. Hopefully this clarifies the differences with some pics showing a clear way to easily identify internally the early and late transmissions when disassembled.
  19. Being in the middle of Australia, Sydney is 2800km away and Adelaide is still 1500km. I'm taking down the two 32 GTR's to get tuned so even Adelaide is a major exercise and cost to tune 2 cars, when I'll be towing this one on a car trailer and getting the other one driven down. Really it was Con at CRD going to tune it since he built the short motor because I didn't have time to do this one myself. I went to Sydney last year and seen them about it so I'm a bit bummed about that, but the way things are I'm not going anywhere near the east coast when borders get shut at a moment's notice. Even still the SA / NT border is closed at the moment so I'm really counting on that changing in the next week or so. If I have to go to Adelaide, Simon at Morpowa will be the only one touching these cars. He wanted me to hold off coming down until he had his Prohub dyno to do them which by the looks of it should be any day now.
  20. Getting closer, but I did take it for about a 100km drive yesterday. The thing's a freakin' animal to drive with just my road tune. Still waiting for..... ...and the bloody SA / NT border to reopen.
  21. Twin entry rail with dual supply -6 would be the reason. Nothing wrong with doing it all in 200 series PTFE, which is the way most people do it. Also Speedflow red filter is 40 micron.
