R32 Gtr Tein superstreet Spring rates
BK replied to SiR_RB's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Nah they're softer, front 5 and rear 4kg/mm. Bnr32 part number GSN14-B1SS3 I run Tein mono flex on bnr32 and they are 7 / 7 by comparison. -

Didn't think the 05U blocks ever went out of production. Still always been obtainable. New 05U casting type maybe ? We need to find some more info on this. -

I am so sick of this shit being posted on SAU in some poor guys thread about a problem he is having with his car. This is not Facebook Edit - do not reply to this, reply to the topic of the thread. -
Stock R33 GTR Clutch slipping
BK replied to R34GTTBoi's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
The ebay link for the xtreme clutch mentioned has pictures for illustration purposes only. It is an organic clutch. See link of actual clutch from the Xtreme guys. https://xtremeclutch.eu/product/24562/KNI25003-1A/. It will almost drive like a stock clutch. The 1170kg pressure plate will make the pedal heavier, but nothing outrageous. I've used their singles before and they are quite good for the price. Will last at 300kw for a fair while and will suit small low mount turbo stuff with the occasional launches. It is about the cheapest good clutch you are going to find so yeah, good standard replacement. -
cool, no sweat then. PPG charge around $2k to do the work, so if you can get someone to do it cheaper, bonus. 26 tooth 28.5mm input shaft is still a good idea over the standard Nissan 24 tooth 25.4mm spline, and it's not an extra cost from PPG. Obviously different clutch or clutch centre hub is required though.
-
PPG or OS it still uses stock Nissan synchros. If you do go this way some of the synchro baulk rings, shift forks ect. have to be updated to the 97 -98 series 3 stuff which adds about an additional 1k in parts. OS used to do an early synchro version gearset but not anymore.
-
On a GTR it is, it f**ks them quick smart. Anyone who says drag racing a synchro box repeatedly is a good idea and that it will last is an idiot. You have been warned. Stop calling me roger smart arse, I've seen the "fully sick" videos.

low 10 @ 150mph is atrocious ! Should be doing AT LEAST mid 9s. I've done 10.6 @ only 126mph before. Without the dog OS Giken low 11s by comparision. Looking at TAHA he will run much quicker with a dog and that's a fact. Really don't know why all the dog box bashing. Like I said horses for courses, but drag shifting at 8k+ rpm ain't good for synchros and definitely ain't good in a drag environment, and will die first in big hp gtrs. BK out, TAHA once again good luck.

Hey whoa up mate. No need to talk to people like shit. Stop calling people homos and wankers. My name is not Roger. OP TAHA is asking about box choices. He drag races. I pointed out a dog will be better on the strip, which it is. Yes a synchro is easier to drive on the street, which it is. No one is getting emotional except you rice, with the need for a triple reply in a row and name calling like a child to defend some point. TAHA, I was just trying to give you some real world advice from using and owning both types of boxes - in a GTR. Synchro or dog, both have their pros and cons and it's up to you to decide what fits your needs. All the best with it.
-
What bullshit. If that was the case everyone in motorsport would be using synchro transmissions. OP drag races. Any time you can do on a synchro box, you can AWAYS beat with a dog box. Kunts who don't know how to drive break Dog boxes.
-
Dog boxes can definitely be driven smoothly on the street. It does take practice as you have to be thinking about your shifts all the time. I do find you really do have to rev match properly on downshifts to be smooth. No just put the clutch in, let revs drop and select gear like a normal box. I drive mine on the street just fine, a 3F1 Quaife / Trust straight cut 6 speed (I have another one for sale currently). I love the straight cut gear noise over helical too, but this can drive some people nuts. This is in the 32 which is not a daily. The 33 I do still use an OS giken set though I guess so I can have a synchro and a dog box to choose from. I know also PAR (I know they had a bad rep for a while. Been assured the new stuff is actually really good since about 2014) is getting a good reputation from their current straight dog 1st - 4th and helical synchro 5th. Maybe that's an option for you ? PPG do similar with the helical dog 1st - 4th and helical synchro 5th. Check these options out. Edit: Try and get a drive of a dog box if you can also.
-
Very similar to a OS Giken from all reports strength wise as it generally comes down to the synchros lasting. Pretty much one of the two to go if you're going to stay synchro. All about how much you want to spend. If you can afford it go bigger input and centre plate. If you continue to drag you'll want a dog box in the end. I had dog box from 2009 - 2012 then went to Giken synchro until last year. I am now back to a dog box again.

1992 R32 GTR Atessa Leak at sensor/switch
BK replied to EJSenpai's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Expoxy is fine if it will hold. Do I think it will hold 250psi ?, no. If you can get a switch great, at least there are some used full units around if you can't. -
R32gtr attessa solenoid into r33gtr gr running rwd
BK replied to danny14's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
I have 32 and 33 gtr. Looking at it you could use a 32 setup on a 33 to make it only a power down attesa ecu situation to run 2wd, but you wouldn't want to do it. It would make the 33s Attesa system shit. 33 Attesa system is better not only from faster acting ecu, but because if the difference in the hydraulic side. The 32 runs Attesa solenoid. Normal conditions has 0 psi. When the g sensors and tps signals tell the ATTESA ecu to apply 4wd pressure is applied anywhere from 0 - 250ish psi depending on how much 4wd is needed. The 33 runs dual solenoids. One, referred to as the failsafe solenoid keeps around 30psi at the attesa actuator at all times, essentially preloading the front drive slightly. That's why 33s always have a small amount of front drive all the time, and you cant just kill power to attesa system to go into 2wd like on a 32. The second solenoid is to feed in the varying high pressure to the attesa actuator commanded by the attesa ecu to control the 4wd. Because of this preload, the system can get up to full pressure much faster, making for a faster reacting 4wd system. swapping to a 32 setup would be going backwards. The method mentioned above is essentially depressurising the failsafe solenoid on a 33, so that there is no attesa actuator preload on the transfer case, meaning you can get 33 into rwd without dragging on your transfer clutch plates. That is the safe way to do it without hurting the transfer case. -
1992 R32 GTR Atessa Leak at sensor/switch
BK replied to EJSenpai's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Don't use epoxy man, the system pressurises to around 250ish psi and would be a waste of time. Had a quick look on Nissan fast for you and you are out of luck, you can't buy switch by itself, probably because of the sealed nature of the unit under such high pressure. New ones for the whole assembly is over $3000 too ! Anyway found some good second hand ones. One on gum tree for $165 and JDM garage in Gold coast for $180. I'd be giving Brad a call at JDM garage and getting the entire R32 GTR pump assembly he has, as it looks pretty clean and he's really good to deal with. Cheers, Ben -
"Carret"! Sorry but I'm still uncontrollably laughing about it ? On a serious note, might be time to look for another turbo...

Why the hell is this in the for sale thread ? Come on. Edit-Thanks Duncan for moving this shit thread out of the for sale section.
