  1. I had a 3 1/2" to 4" Kakimoto on my last 32 GTR I found it quiet below 3k, very streetable (quieter then my 3" apexi), but on WOT it absolutely screamed!! ^^^^^^ Dan
  2. Just read the whole thread, seems you had some stinky luck with ur boxes, I've always used Lightweightshockproof on 32 boxes and never had an issue. Anyway, with the new gearset your probably fine. best of luck with your runs tomorrow night, let us know how you go. Dan

    R34 Niztune

Hey mate, i had a nistune ECU on my last GTR (an R32 though), had been tuned by Trent at Chequered tuning, for its basic mods it was fantastic (had -7's, 3 & 1/2 kakimoto de cat exhaust, cam gears, boost controller) was 296awkw and had no issues with knock etc. I never had an issue with it..... untill my car got nicked, but thats a story for another day. im looking at getting a new one on my current GTR if thats anything.
  4. i've moved to brissy a few months ago and in need of getting my car tuned (R32 GTR V spec, still running stock boost/stock tune) so thanks for the suggestions, its good to hear that there are a number of very promising options around.
  5. this probably should have been in the maintenance and servicing category. Sorry!
  6. hey guys, i had been experiencing higher then expected temps in my 32 GTR (although that was reading stock temp guage so how accurate that is... is anyone guess!) it was frustrating as the clutch fan was pretty well alway atleast 30% on even in <12c weather. and i hated the sound of it blowing all that air and the feel of the drain on the engine. So, i decided i would first of all flush the coolant and see if that did anything, if not i would replace the thermostat, if that didnt work i was gonna get serious and buy a Koyo triple pass full alluminium rad (see the steps increasing in price exponentially!) Anyway i got under the car, opened the radiator cap, coolant recovery bottle undid the air draig plug and then emptied the coolant.. the crap that came out was like murky brown... yuk, anyhow, i rinsed water through it, this is where the GTR service manual didnt really work for me. i tightened the drain plug at the bottom and filled (expecting it to fill untill coolant would escape the air drain plug (as per GTR Service manual: Pg. EN-249/250) where i would then fill to full no dramas. HOWEVER, the radiator just filled. period. nothing out of the air drain plug (i had turned the car power on to put the heater on too, as directed) anyhow, im like, 4L in... its not full.... FML, so started her up, let her run, turned her off and filled some more, (like 100ml) so i scrolled through the forums and figured fk it, opened the radiator and started her up.. and then just poored in with it running and the coolant flowing, this proved very effective as there must have been BULK air in the cooling system becasue it was just bubbling like.. something that needs to bubble alot! and not boiling, as it was only 50-65c to the touch (probably not smart?) anyway i was able to get about 5.5L into her in the end. TL:DR - my question is: when refilling the radiator, is there any harm in filling her till the radiator says no (just ignore the air drain plug) and then start her up cold, wait for the thermostat to open and start flowing coolant and then just poor and monitor untill all the tiny little bubbles escape and the system is completely full? Cheers Dan Ohh and looks like the coolant was the problem, cause took it for a 20 min cruise, and clutch fan wasnt really coming on at all!!
  7. Okay ressurrecting an OLD post here but seems im having the exact same issue as a number of previous posters... and wouldnt mind some insight on a solution without developing some wizzbang cooling system. i Own a 93' GTR V spec (newly aquired and i beleive i have the issue where the viscous clutch is permenantly engaged, as reguardless of coolant temp the fan just matches engine speed. so over 5000rpm it is absolutely ROARING, is this just a VC issue? i dont want to risk playing with the radiator myself so is this just a take it to a workshop and have them replace it with another VC? (obviously there could be a host of other issues like a faulty sensor etc?) would a normal radiator specialist handle that or would the GTR be too too complex and i need to go to an import mechanic that deals with GTR regularly? Dan
  8. these came off the engine with a blown head gasket?
  9. if the gearbox worked fine... why did you replace it? Lets consider: the wine red GTR you were trying to sell (including parts of) had a blown tranny when the previous owner was trying to sell it. he was selling with a spare r33 tranny to put in. Case in point: if it was from your Red GTR and its broken.
  10. i feel your pain mate.. (my GTR was stolen 3 weeks ago from melbourne) its a real keen sense of violation and betrayal. ESPECIALLY given your circumstances.. im sorry for your loss. best of luck with finding it! Dan
  11. Hey guys, i'm moving to Brisbane in about a week.i had my GTR stolen 2 weeks ago here in melbourne so ill likely be buying a new one down here and driving up (or buying one up their, i want to avoid the latter as it seems the market is much better for the buyer down here). IS QLD usually anal with RWC inspections?
  12. good point, although some people have never seen a US passport though.
  13. The koyo radiator was working fine in your gtr... but its got a blown head gasket from overheating. Elaborate?
  14. Agreed. I'm not just saying that as anyone, I'm Army and would never condone someone in public service treating people they are employed to serve that way.
  15. I guess they could get away with a bit of lag, their target audience will certainly not be 21-30 yr old car lovers looking for a daily with balls...
  16. FK that! I would be mad, i hope that i was given the correct incident number now, I called the police yesterday to get the # for the insurer(police didnt have it when i first reported), call went pretty well as follows "XXXXXXXX police station.." "Hey mate, My names Daniel. i reported my car stolen on tuesday and just need to get my incident number for my insurer. Are you able to help me with that?" "Listen Son. I dont know who the hell you think you are but i am not giving you piss over the phone. you could be anyone. and you reckon you can just call up anytime and get information off me. come down to the station." "uhhhh.... okay Sir thats no problem.. apologies, i wast aware i couldnt get it over the phone. i can be down in about 5 minutes." "well theres probably a lot of things you are not aware of" "uhh, bye" "click" I was quite taken back... and pretty pissed off too! i headed down though and bumped into the officer that i reported it to initially and she was great, the bloke i spoke to must of just had a pretty a bad day.. which is imaginable, Saturday close to Christmas, possibly working the next few days straight through, so i cant really blame him.
  17. Thanks Damir, i imagine thats proven to be a bit of a headache! And Alvin i completely agree, they just dont seem to care!!
  18. c'mon mate, nothing competes to smashing people in the face with the DMR... hells fun! although, they removed king of the hill!?!?!? grrr
  19. I saw this cars engine for sale separately.. so this is without the engine/radiator etc?
  20. Thanks for the support guys, it is insured, but my fist GTR... really had a special spot, this was the car that since i was 11 dreamt that one day i would own... finally bought it! and then... probably my biggest sentiment right now. pissed that people do this, and i don't want it to happen to others (although possibly the worst possible timing, since i am moving to Brisbane for work soon and needed to drive up!!) heres a pic of my baby (prior to putting the TE37's on) [/img]
